I'm curious - how many of your run or dance in a player-run Cantina? What are your experiences there?

And where are they? (Galaxy and location) I've only found one player-run cantina in my limited travels, and it was pretty dead. I wonder how successful they are, how you get your customer base, etc. Can you /kick and /ban an unruly player from a player-run cantina just like you can from a house (I'm assuming so). I'd love to hear your experiences and find out where these cantinas are!

Hjouse of Spjank is opening a cantina/med center/general store next weekend called Spjankers. It's on Talus about 200m outside of the Imperial Outpost on the Lowca server. While not that many people live/play on talus there are a large number of parties coming though the outpost and the closest cantina/hotel/theater is 6000m away so I think we will do fine for business once we get known. At our grand opening we will have a band and dancers, 1 credit Jawa beer, free heals and buffs from our medic, fireworks and numerous wares on sale on our various vendors. We're still decorating right now but I really like the set up. You can /kick and /ban since it is just a house. The main difference between it and a public cantina is if no one is dancing there people do not heal.. at all. So you have to be consistently staffed or have well known hours as people coming out to an empty cantina stops them from coming again. Since it is also the Talus front for our general store we should have people in an out at all times able to get something.. maybe not BF healing but a nice pre-sliced scout blaster.

I think it will work out, but I really don't expect player owned cantinas to get big until player cities are up and you can have a cantina which shows up on the planet map. It's just to hard to get the word out otherwise.

I haven't yet used the ability, but can't entertainers use an ability that places them on the map?

I forget the exact name of the ability, but it would seem that might solve the issue if it worked. Not sure about player-run cantinas, of course.

Yes pickles, it's called "register with location" and I believe it only works in city cantinas and med centers at this time, though I'm sure it will work in player cities eventually.

You have to have the building registered on the map first, which is some Merchant skill I believe. As for player run cantinas, they just really need outside services before they'll take off (shuttle, mission terminals, ...).

Unless you want to put one up right next to some popular dungeon like fort tusken.

We have the ability to "Register With Location". Apparently it marks the building we're in as "manned" (why not "womaned"?) so people know where to find us.

Also, the Drunken Jester due north of Keren Shuttle Port, Naboo*Radiant* (I can post the co-ords later tonight)is a fantastic player owned Cantina. It's still pretty new, but our drink vendor is second to none. Try the Tatooine Sunburnsbefore a fight... It's not often "womanned" at the moment cause we only use it for scheduled parties!

The register command doesn't work even if the place is registered on the map via the merchant skill tree ability.

I run the Oasis on Tarquinas server. We are loacted between Mos Entha and Mos Taike. Not having a shuttleport or med centre doesn't hurt us at all. Our cantina is located in the PA hall and medics can heal wounds there while the patrons watch the show. we have a pretty steady crowd every night with 3 notable rush periods when people log on at about 6pm CST, mid evening at about 9, and again around midnighbt 1am when we get the log off crew.

The register for location thing doesn't work in a player owned building at the moment . I have the merchant skill that lets me put my merchant on the map and i do, but the register for location tells me that the building i am in must be registered.

I work in a player run Roleplay Cantina, The Glitter Pit (Temenos Island, Naboo--Kettemoor).

I actually wait tables there right now, but I am hoping that someday Miss Tandaava will let her be a dancer.

Best environment I have ever worked in in game. We have bouncers and very strict rules at the Glitter Pit. It is some serious roleplay, and more fun than you can shake your lekku at. I love it...going back to a regualar cantina or hotel would not be a real option for me now.

Kalia, I'd love to have the loc of this Cantina. I've been itching for a little exploring and my friend doesn't want to stay in Moenia forever.

Hmm I've been to a few player-run cantinas in my ongoing quest for a consistentlyenjoyable cantina experience, and I've found myself in basically three types on Starsider.

First, is the Tumbleweed Cafe. It doesn't matter what the name really is, it's called Tumbleweed Cafebecause nobody is there but perhaps a vendor who is at best understocked, and often unstocked, with food and drink. The owner is probably off doing destroy missions and/or dancing in cantinas to pay the rent.

Second, is Cheers. It doesn't matter what the name really is, it's called Cheers because it's like walking into the TV show. Complete with theclique of regular patrons (often the friends of the owner) whohang outthere. You can usually break in to this type ofclique over time just by being around long enough, but if you travel a lot or have limited playing time, it's probably not the best way to spend your hours.

Third, is the RP-Enforced Cantina. Many of these are run by people for the sake of RPing with their personal circle of RPingfriends, rather thanto make money or servethe general public, in my experience. Alot of them probably are losing money, but making their owners and friends happy, so I guess there are worse things.

What I haven't seen are successful cantinas that aren't a meeting place for a specific clique, PA, or group. I also haven't seen any brothels or strip clubs (maybe they all moved to Chilastra *nudge Sinda*) though I've always been hearing rumors of them existing somewhere, run by someone. There probably are a few, but if there were any highly successful ones I think they'd be infamous. Like El Guapo.

Well, My friend Kiki and I opened up a Cafe and spice den on the Intrepid server just south of Theed. The waypoint is -5400 3142 I play there when i have the chance im a master muscian and a novice chef so i keep the drinks and food flowing. We have a seedy spice den downstairs where we serve liquor, beer and spices.

Kiki did a great job with the house. Its lavishly decorated. All we need now is a bunch of people and we are set

Come on by if you have a chance.
