I really don't understand how the developers think. They have this really unique game, that yes has some problems, but I would think they could be solved. I don't have any hard statistics, but just going from my own reactions to it (being a grown up woman)I wonder why don't they go after and cater more to female players (and guys that like alittle substance too
)? If someone is looking for just a combat game, unless they are huge star wars fans, those will probably go to wow, or eq2. They have something so special, and are too blind to see it, makes me sad. They could be working on more social content, or at least fix the problems with what they have, and instead they rush to make themselves clones of all the other games out there. Wake up and take off the goggles soe.

I completely agree Risharra. I play because my husband started and I saw how unique some of the proffesions were compared to some of the other games. I do not do combat! I have on rare occasions gone with my guild to heal but now as a master doc and dancer, I am forced into combat and have my other proff completly changed. I dont play as much as some others and not nearly as much as my husband but I fear that after the CU I wont want to play at all and will cancel this account.

The upgrade I tried on test is not an upgrade at all. It is a brand new game that just happens to look similar to the game I beta tested and played for the last two years.
There are some things I kind of like in the new game... I like the concept of the armour system. I like the concept of the combat professions. I like the new HAM design. The concept of the new weapon system.
The things I absolutely hate though are;
1) Level based combat/progression (This is a game killer for me. This system drove me away from CoH and it will drive me away from SWG.)
2) 8 person group design
3) The change in font for player/object/NPC names
4) The inspiration buff system (I like that mind wounds were replaced, but a buffing system was the worst way to go.)
5) Removal of the visible combat queue
6) New fantasy RPG style particle effects on specials (A HUGE IMERSION KILLER).
7) The added importance on taking all combat skill points for PvP rather than giving us balanced combat professions that allowed a wider variety of template/character choices.
8) Removal of armour and weapons as costume
9) The new cartoon style interface (I prefer the old one)

I'd like to point out that; while a lot of people are complaining about SOE porting code from another game, for example.... Like porting from EQII... just to make maintenance easier...
The Development Teams for EverQuest, EverQuest II, and Star Wars Galaxies are located in three different States.
EverQuest is Headquartered in San Diego, California.
Star Wars Galaxies is Headquartered in Austin, Texas.
Everquest II, I beleive is in Washington State I read somewhere.
So how would this make maintenance easier? They going to put their EQII Tech/Dev on a Plane and fly 'em down to Austin every time a major bug crops up in the code?

Oh, one more thing... isn't the Expansion: RoJW being developed to take advantage of this CU?
They scrap the CU, sure that'd be nice since no one likes it... but what would that do to RoJW?

They're not scrapping the CU because you're right. Not only are we getting the CU as a free DL, it's also being put on the expansion and the expansion relies on the CU. So this is just a big load of crap. The CU and the expansion are going through, like it or not.

there was a game, a very good game (imo), that was three years in development. 9 days into beta 2 the entirety of the game was scrapped. no reasons given, it was just thrown in the crapper. thousands of man-hours down the drain. that game was Wish, that was the game that would have been very likely to steal me from SWG. that was back in january, i still don't think i've fully recovered from it.

There have been rumors about such things since the first day it went to Test Center. Until there is an official announcement, I would not buy into it. They would be throwing away a full yearof development and design. Such a decision would not be taken lightly.
Far be it from me to help somone away from SWG, but to comfort you about Wish, there are some rumors floating around the industry that Wish may still be on the way, but under a different liscence.
Now these are only rumors mind you, but a glimmer of hope is better than no hope.

My friend was working on Wish, it's canned. Gone. Etc.
