A brand new player, still in diapers (Desert crawlers) taking up dancer. It really puts things in perspective to watch someone discovering the game and simply glowing about how wonderful it all is.

Yeah, the blissful ignorance of someone totally unaware of our plight is kind of refreshing. Then I tend to get depressed, knowing that they'll either eventually turn into a buffbot, or just an AFK macro'er, OR run from the profession when they see this plague upon us. The only thing that cheers me up is that they might find someone who plays live to show them how things used to be, and are supposed to be, with the Ent professions.

Heh...me too, Warryyr. Sometimes I have to hold back my tongue with a newbie. They'll ask all these questions, which I am very happy to answer, and they seem so excited and wonderful, and I do what I can to teach and encourage them.

But, in the back of my mind I want to spam them with warnings about how horrible things are and that they should just give it up now because they will come to be bitter and jaded as I am.

I honestly can't decide what is worse...letting them be blissfully ignorant and wasting there time and money on a profession that will end up severely disappointing them, or telling them and popping their happy balloon.

I'm still very pissed we haven't heard so much as a fart from a Dev in our general direction. We don't deserve this silence, we don't deserve to get treated like this when it comes to FINALLY seeing positive things happen to us.

The Devs struck out with me today. I was hoping for a "first thing Monday morning" kinda deal to get us our info, yet here we are, 1/2 way through Monday, and nothing - not a peep, not an announcement, not a fart, NOTHING.

Bah.

ANYTHING would have better than nothing, at least then I'd have SOMETHING to tell a newbie Ent that'd be positive, like "we're screwed with bots right now, but soon we'll be able to ________________________________________ and that's going to be lots of fun."

Nah, instead if I run into a newbie, I think I'll just burst their bubble and say, "the Devs don't give a hoot, the players don't either, just work for a Jedi."

Yeah, but Big Fuzzy, you have to remember that it's just a job, like everybody else has. My Monday's are often filled with alot of yawning, stretching, and several cups of coffee. I really don't get very productive until Wednesday, going fullspeed on Thursday, and then Friday hits. Who the hell works on a Friday? All we can do is tell them to hurry the "fart" up, and maybe they'll get it out to us, whether it's perfect or not.

I know, I know.

But you can ALWAYS be sure that, in my job, when I told someone 2 weeks ago Thursday I'd give them some info the next week about something, and I don't tell em a THING, that next Monday I'll be jumping right in to let them know what's going on (especially if I'm called on it).

I can't tell you the name of one person who's a professional who would do otherwise.

Yeah, it's annoying as hell, and if it was anything other than a bunch of gaming geeks sitting behind a computer playing with code, I'd be royally pissed too, but c'mon, how professional do you think these guys are?

(Yes, that was a dig at you, RedNames. You gonna take that? )

ROFL

That about sums it up.

Of course, I can't help but be cynical about this 'announcement'. I'm living in fear that they're going to say "Guess what! We're getting rid of skill point requirements for dancers!" Or "Guess what! We're getting rid of all buffing/healing abilities!"

I will go on a shooting spree if something like this happens.

You know, six months ago when I was starting out, someone actually did say as much to me. She did her level best for half an hour to discourage me. She was pretty active on this forum at the time too; I'm sure a lot people would recognize the name if I said it. Given the amount of bitterness she displayed, I'm not surprised she's not still around.

So Warryyr, please go do something to relax and recharge, because I'd hate to see you go the same way.

Thanks for your concern

I guess I was just hoping to come back into the forums on Monday, and see some kind of update or info on stuff for us. I have been pretty short today, and I apologize for that. I even lambasted someone for asking about a macro, and I haven't done that for awhile. I'm not feeling too well today, and I think that's part of my problem. I had a massive headache during the little get together last night with Deila and everyone, and I couldn't hang out long once Deila got there because of it

So, yeah - sorry forthe grumpiness, folks. I'm going to take your advice and just relax and recharge, I think I need it, and I really shouldn't post anything or be on the forums when I feel like poop and things are frustrating me.

And sorry I couldn't hang out longer, Deila and everyone - I got really bummed when I logged so early. I ended up just going to bed. Stupid headache.

How do you think I feel? First time ever I get a DEV to respond to one of my posts and look what it turns into. I wish I had never made the post in the first place, all it's done is result in a lot of frustration for everyone. I'm sorry. Maybe next time rather than complain about being crapped on I should just hang up the ol' dance shoes and walk off into the sunset.

No, don't do that. Be vocal. I was just being Mr. Grumpy up there.

I'm glad you made the post, really I am. It might not have turned out in the best way just yet. But good will come of it. The Correspondents have been working too hard on it, and it'll probably end up stellar and I'll feel like a doofus for blathering on today.

We can't afford anymore of the good ones just walking off into the sunset, we've gone so far...and maybe we'll finally see some results from all of our complaining about being crapped on
