I'm not. I'm just pointing out something from my own experience. I work in software development, and I couldn't tell you every detail of the product I'm working on. There are some aspects of it I couldn't even give you a high level overview of.

Heh...I'm just wondering how long it would take a developer to create a Master Dancer toon, if he/she doesn't have one arleady and fact check something as simple as this before posting.
Ignorance is no excuse.

I mustconfess that I had no idea about this. I did always wonder why the effects changed as I advanced.

I didn't learn about this until shortly before I trained in my last Music Technique box. I'd been sad that my /dazzle ability had been "nerfed" from being pretty golden hoops flying around to pink and purple noise over my head. One day I happened to type /dazzle 6 or something and got the notice that I didn't have the skill to perform that effect and it would do the highest one I could perform. I started plugging in numbers behind my effects and discovered they hadn't all disappeared on me.
It made me happy. (Hey, what can I say, I'measily amused.

The best part about discovering this...
Try /smokebomb 1... You've never seen it before if you've never used that trick.

Not knowing all thenuances of your profession doesn't make you a newb in my book. It's a learning process regardless of whether you have been a 'Master' of the profession for 1 day or 500 days. What was frustrating for me was the title of the "tip". It should have been called "Did you know there are 3 levels of special effects?"anyway....
I learned about the differences entirely by accident because I hadn't been payingclose attention to the information about the new skills learned as I advanced - I was overwhelmed by all the mechanics at the time and had no mentors on my server. But one day I was experimenting with the timing of the effects and certain moves and noticed that the effect I had typed didn't look like I had remembered. Having not heard about any changes to the effects I began to look closer and noticed all the effects looked different {in my own defense I am often in first person mode and can't always see the actual special effect}. I can't remember now where I learned about the ability to control the appearance by selecting the different level of the effect but I know I didn't find it on my own. I read about it in someone else's post here on the board. IfI had missed that post, I'd probably still be trying to figure it out. So never be "ashamed" about learning something new.
cheers,

Which one is the pink smoke? I know the final smokebomb is sort of a green color, but I like the pink smoke much more. I think it's smokebomb 2. Anyway, that is the one that I always use for costume changes (the pink one I mean).

I have a macro hotkeyed for /smokebomb 1 (I think it was something we did during an early CC and I've kept it ever since).
Love it.

I have known about this for about 6 months...but, yeah, it took me awhile, and I only found out by accident. I think I just accidentally hit a number or something. But, I was all excited when I found out. I really like smokebomb 1 because it combines smoke with a lightning-like effect. I also love the rings on dazzle. And I enjoy doing distract 1 and seeing where the puff of smoke ends up.
Funny how my favorite ones are the level1 effects. heh.

I like the smaller ones better because people don't complain about lag when you use them, lol.

If you run a looping macro on the /distract 1, you get a cool warzone effect, which is really nice when A)Telling war stories, or B) sing war songs!
