Thread: Entertainer Upgrade! Newsletter #16 Quote

Well, I think TH probably does see Combat as the main game and then Crafting after that... and then the rest of us, but, knowing how he plays his Dancer really cleared that up for me.
He's the kind that sort of lives in one cantina (a player Cantina I think)... he logs in, chats for a while if people are there, and then leaves to go play around in the outdoors if it gets too slow or someone obnoxious comes in. He's never buffed anyone and he still had not mastered last I heard. So, it makes sense that he sees Entertaining as an add on kind of thing based on how he's played it.
*snip*
Remember, Devs do more for happy players who will appreciate their effort! Creative types love to see people excited about their work!
I know, Panthu, they'll be happier if we'rehappy. However I need something to be happy about. We've all heard lines and lines of rhetoric, and I'd like to see some results. Barrign that I'd like to see the plan. If his vision of entertainment is that limited then he has no idea what he is talking about with regard to us. The way and style of entertainer play extends in alot of different directions. It would be helpful if he would open his eyes a bit and see that. We are all paying customers and as such it's really sad he sees us as second or perhaps third class citizens.
Less Talk, More Codeing.... please ![]()

I don't think he means to be rude, I think that's just how he thinks Ent is played the most fun, as a side. He's also never done group performances, so, he's just a little limited in his Ent play experiences is all.

A free year’s subscription for those that were here when they inflicted the hologrind on us.
QFE - not that the other ideas aren't good as well, but this one seems especially appropriate and especially due for us for all we've had to put up with from the hologrind and buffbots and indignities we've had to suffer from other players and the CSR's who've been unwilling or unable to support our basic playstyle as it was intended and whatever scheduling/staffing issues in the development process that have allowed these conditions to go unchecked for so unforgivably long.
*whew* sorry
/rant off
I started and it just kinda snowballed...
As to other comments made, I really don't take much offense in TH's words. To me I see what he said as more like "Not only are we giving you all this stuff, but we're even adding an entertainer revamp." Frankly I'm just glad to see it take a prominent place if nothing else. I would also have liked to have seen a smuggler revamp mentioned because I think they're deserving of one as well, but I do think that our need even trumps theirs (and no I'm not a smuggler either).
As far as what I'd like to see, there is one thing I want to mention. Even though I'd love to see more songs and dances released in an upgrade, I would't want them to just give us a bunch of stuff at once and then not give us anything for another year or two. Let's say that they have 4 new songs and dances ready, and have no chance to add any again for another couple of years, I'd rather they release the new content slowly, like one new song and dance now, another each following about every six months. This way it gets spread out and we feel more like they are constantly releasing new material for us. If they just release it all at once, then it'll be fun for a few months, but then we'll spend a long time waiting to see anything new again.

Well, it's good to see an economically viable Euro versus the American dollar, and acceptance ofEurope to join with those who occupy their little corner of the world is heartwarming, but I think if any serious strides areto be made, the UK is going to have to sign on and adopt the Euro as their currency. This, however, challenges the historic and nearly legendary life of the British pound sterling, known throughout the ages as an iconic symbol of imperial and colonial power.
Ohhh, wait - you meant the Entertainer Upgrade!!! Well, isn't my face red...
Anyhow, the following would make my millenia:
1) More instruments for Musicians. More diverse/new sounds for these instruments as well.
2) New sounds for instruments currently in the game. I shouldn't learn skill boxes to gain the ability to play a new instrument, only to find out it sounds exactly like what I've been playing, but it looks a little different.
3) New dances (minimum 10, 20 or more - better)
4) New songs (minimum 10, 20 or more - better)
5) Extended periods of AFK'ing an Entertainerbecomes a distant memory of a forgotten nightmare.
6) Games hosted by Entertainers in cantinas, to keep the people interested while there.
7) Some way in this game to have anywhere near the earning potential of other professions
8) A Bantha whocan accompany me on Slitherhorn.
9) A durni who can hop in circles around me while I dance, jump on shoulders, jump on another player's shoulders, add some benefits to my performance stat-wise or healing-wise.
10) Make effects MATTER. They're currently just eye candy, lag inducers, and Action burners. Make there be a reason to be in-game instead of that they "just look cool."
11) Create a distract function with Entertainers. Let us distract factional NPC's, other players, creatures, etc etc etc. NPC's already instantly recognize when we're playing music or dancing, and they start clapping. Start with that, and go from there, go nuts with it.
12) Keep people from stealing Musicians' Ommni Boxes and Nalargons from them - in fact, why don't you go ahead and remove the Nalargon and Ommni Box-specific requirement that they be targetted in order to play them. I don't target my Bandfill or Chidinkalu horn, and I seem to play those just fine.
13) Look into Master Dancers falling, and remove it. Someone who's that skilled doesn't fall during performances. The chances, if they reeeeeally need to be in there, need to be at least 1 in 1,000,000 chance of a fall occurring. Or, remove the whole falling thing completely upon learning Master Dancer, but put in a /fall emote. Let the Dancer decide if they want to fall at a certain time, maybe in an RP situation.
14) Give us more to DO in this game, chances to get cool loot, places to go and perform, reasons to do so, missions to go on that don't involve playing for some invisible critic.
15) Speaking of missions, if you won't overhaul them completely, can you stop the title from being "Dancer" even when getting a Musician mission? And, can the Dancer missions not have a Nalargon pictured in their description? What are you, TRYING to drive us all mad?
16) Have the Devs talk to us. We're good folks. When we don't feel stepped on. Pick us up off the ground, I beg you.
Thanks.

Firstly the phrasing is just insulting to entertainers the game over.
Secondly, I don't want to know we are getting an Entertainer Upgrade. After all, the Smugglers were told they were getting a full revamp not long after launch when the devs found out how broken they were. The game will soon be 2 years old and the Smugglers are still waiting. I sure as hell don't expect to see anything in terms of an 'Entertainer Upgrade' for at least 4 years based on past history.
That said... if they would like to prove me wrong, go for it!

The detailed lists people have put up already are fantastic - I honestly cannot think to add anything else, everything on my wishlist has been captured by someone here, so kudos to the people who took the time to write them out.
- An end to AFK non-play
- A buffing interface such as IDs have for their work with Secure Payment
- Finish the dances we have so there are 8 full flourishes for each doance and fix the buggy ones
- More dances/music/instruments
- Missions worth doing
