I made a dance cage and placed dance poles in the dance area of my cantina and I must say the reactions I get when people visit are quite nice.
Yea people may think 9strip club) when they see this, but im not going to complain as my place is always visited by customers.
If you do it right, its a great way to show of your cantina decore.
Wow, that's a clever idea.
Dance poles are legitimate. The strippers will like them, and other dancers may as well.
Now, I guarantee that my dancer would never use a dance pole. However, why would I want to stop someone else from using such a pole? The idea has merit, even if I won't use it. I won't use a flame thrower, either, but I wouldn't dream of discouraging the devs from working on that.
yeah that's actually where I got the idea... I saw someone that had made a cage out of combat staffs...
but
It'd be better if the dancer could actually use the pole instead of having to make some fake looking stuff that clutters my stage ![]()
I've always liked this idea. Like many others, I've tried to recreate the dance poles/cages idea with combat staffs and metal staffs. Of course, there will always be people who think that anyone who uses them are utterly perverted, but my opinion is, in order for them to think that, they had to have had those ideas in their head anyway.
*bumps the thread*
I like the idea as well. I know many people are very uptight about 'the image of the dancers in SWG" and I happen to be one of them. I do NOT want my profession tarnished. But that's just it. MY profession is NOT the profession ofthe dancer next to me. I do not bring unwanted attention to myself, and if I happen to, I take it in stride. Getting my panties in a twist over one tiny thing is just too much work, you know? I like to keep my adrenaline saved for other stuff.... like outrunning a mountain lion.
In Jazz, in Ballet, in Hula, in in in... nearly every kind of dance, there are props involved. In these dances (besides erotic ) I have seen poles utilized without the feeling of 'stripper' in it. Hoops, flaming sticks, canes, garlands, boas, staves, poles, swords, fans, and on and on... I've seen them all used.
This is a game where there isn't really a way to strip. The whole POINT of stripping is the tension that the slow and erotic removal of clothes brings. .....somehow I doubt that is possible. Other than text cyber. And if someone is into that and you are not- no biggie. The thing about text is that it is text and can not occur without you writing it.
Again, I don't like adding to the view that dancers have in SWG. I heard a guy the other day say that we were useless. (THEN beg the 3 masters for buffs... which we righty refused, and I still will for this particular guy.)
Any prop, not just poles, has the ability to cast the same dark cloud over our profession.
I don't see many of the girls I dance with IRL (Ballet) whining about the image that strippers give to the dancing profession. It's not THEIR profession. What I do and what the girl next to me does is completely different. Someone may make the mistake of thinking I am like her, but he won't get anywhere and will move on. No skin off my nose. That's the funny thing about choice.....I have one. ^-^ And I won;t tarnish mine. But she (whoever) and tarnish theirs.

I prefer to just equip a fishing pole... It's fun to see who goes . o 0 ( ? ) and who laughs when they come in ![]()
Oh, and I want pom-poms, too... along with /cheer 1-8 so I can do something other than watch if I go with a hunting group ![]()
thank you Breestan...
I agree completely...
btw I am currently in need of a high level dancer for a partner in running my cantina on Bria.......
mail me if you are interested
thanks!
I have never seen a fixed pole used in any dance venue other than a strip joint. They do not have them in recital halls or dance studios. If you want to watch sleaze (and I don't fault you for that), go somewhere else.

I was thinking it'd be great if dancers could make an item called a dance pole that they could 'use' anywhere just like musicians can 'use' nalargons and omni boxes... they could even add a new dance for master dancers which would make use of the pole
Ive actually taken this idea into my cantina a few days ago, before I see this post.
I had a novice weaponsmith make metal poles and had them renamed to Dance pole AND cage bar
I made a dance cage and placed dance poles in the dance area of my cantina and I must say the reactions I get when people visit are quite nice.

I'm soo stealing this idea LOL... I love it. I want dance poles too.
Of all the props dancers have ever used EVER, I would love love LOVE to see them give us fans. They would look SO great with the erotic dance, and add a touch of class to the dance thathelp diminish our "stripper" stigma. Oh man, give us fans, please!
