i totally like the base to theatrical 2 much better than just theatrical! hehe, now if they would just fix them so other players can see how fun they look as well 
i had to get 100k theatrical xp plus it cost 400k dancing xp tp train in theatrical2.

Well, word has it that you need 100,000 XP earned with dancing theatrical. I only can say for sure that you need 400,000 XP all in all. TThis is the amount of XP the choreography teacher asked from me and the amount that was actually substracted from my XP by learning theatrical2.
If 300,000 XP can be earned with any dance or the number of 100,000 XP is in fact wrong I cannot say for sure. Since theatrical gives you XP on approximately the same rate as footloose I wouldn't try it if I wouldn't like it.
Remember that you have no advantage in game functions by gaining theatrical2. So there is no point in doing it if you do not consider it fun.

Thanks for that. Not too difficult then.
As for not liking it and it having no gaming value, I agree, but it's the challenge of doing it and achieving it that spurs me on.

Does anyone know if this is bugged? High on the hopes that the base dance fixes were comming, and with then a reason to get theatrical 2, I also started working towards this dance. After 2 hours of boredom and irritation wnadering all over the cantina and not being able to chat to my group properly I broke the habit of a lifetime, locked myself in my house and set a dance macro running. 18 hours on a fairly high flourish rate later and I still don't have theatrical 2.
That makes more than 24hours solid dancing when I add in what I'd done in the months previous to this in performances and rehearsals, both live and grouped as well as solo macro'd. That seems well above any sane requirement for what is in effect just a pretty emote.
Anyone know for certain?

Two other dancers recently reported that they had at least twice maxed their dance xp but still didn't get the system message that they could learn Theatrical 2. I know Esh was looking into it and I suggested they file /bug reports as well but I don't know if anything was resolved yet.
I can tell you that it took me about a week to get the system message. Now that obviously wasn't a week of 23/7 dancing and I didn't just dance the highest xp granting dances so others might be able to finish sooner. Just hang in there and if you think you're reaching the dance xp limit and not getting the system message file a bug report. Good luck.

In spite of the uncertain future we all face, I am still taking on new challenges. Having learnt Theatrical recently, even though it sucks apart from a couple of pretty flourishes, I want to go on and get Theatrical 2.
How much dancing xp do I need to get it? I know it has to be xp in Theatrical only. Presumably it's fine if any xp on top of that is from other dances.
Keep your chins up boys and girls, we will come through this CU with a brave smile like the true performers we are, the show will go on.

I am halfway to getting the 100k xp doing Theatrical and some way off getting the 400k total. I will keep the bug in mind and see if I'm affected by it.
I have been complimented on Theatrical today, so I guess it isn't so bad a dance.

My trouble is that I _have_ capped dance xp, so I can't tell exactly how much I've gained. AFAIK it still counts towards the total, but that might be the problem.
Theatrical is a wonderful dance, on the stage in a theatre and with a large troupe. It just sucks for cantina dancing, much like formal and lyrical.

You do not have to be a master dancer to get the theatrical. A dancer on Shadowfire (congrats Itac) just got this and hadn't yet reached Novice dancer (or maybe he had just reached it but I don't think so).
Also, I do lyrical, formal and theatrical inside the NPC Cantinas fairly regularly. The best spots are right in front of the bar, being sure to stay behind the two tables there or off to the side. I'm working on being able to do Tumble inside as well. I got it to line up well once but ever since then I keep getting slightly offline and end up tumbling through tables and chairs or hitting the wall. But then again I do not usually perform in a packed cantina either since I'm on a smaller server. If there were 20+ musicians or dancers in the cantina there might not be room for these dances in there.

I have managed to get 50k so far in Theatrical, I haven't tried a change dance macro with it, but I'm not in any great hurry. I had converted dancing xp before I began and am keeping a running total of the xp I need. I shouldn't have a problem capping before I get the relevent xp.
It is surprising how many people have said how nice the dance is, so it must be one of the few where they see all the flourishes too. However I am seen in a different place in the cantina compared to where I see myself.

With publish 14.1, when they fixed the base dances (so others could see them the way we do), they had to alter the mechanism that synched client and server location of avatars in the world. The location where others see us no longer updates while we are dancing (the cause of the jerky, walking/skating movement in the base dances previously). We appear in a different location to them until we stop, when we appear to run back to where we started.
