Thread: Life of an Entertainer Quest on TC.
So when I started SWG and entered the cantina I thought "Oh, social hub, been there done that." To me the cantina was meant to serve in game the function that our library serves in real life. Information, entertainment, socializing; a place where everyone goes sometime, and where I know you are and what you do and can tell you who you should talk to to get what you're looking for. But I suppose we have never really been given, or developed on our own, a real definition of "social hub," even though we throw the phrase around fairly often. I remember a couple threads from way back on what entertainers' "jobs" were, though.
erm. yeah. Since I'm at work and getting interrupted a lot I forgot where I was going with this.
Oh well. *gives everyone cookies*

You know, the one that, by and large, no one is doing, resulting in the current lack of a solid social/interactive hub in the game? Heh. It didn't mention healing, didn't meantion buffing, didn't mention passing notes like HS freshman or giggling like annoying little girls.
Without a "vision statement" the above quotedefines, more closelythananything else I could latelyemphasize, what I have come to understand thedevs'ideal for us to be.Panthu hasbrought this up with usa number of times. Andonce in a while linkage to papers on the topic of "Third Places" get batted around.I know that with our functional emphasis for so long appearingonly to beto support other's performance, it's kind of hard to step back, regroup and see ourselves as something else. It's tough to think outside the box of our existence..our value..being intimately tied to providing something that no one can live without. Weare concerned that we won't be wanted if we're not needed. I'm looking forward to reading what others think of this.
I don't think I got a badge though.
Mebbe you have to do the whole quest series. Or maybe after 2 years I just have so many darn badges that I can't find it.
Heh..gotta love ya Dori! 3
