Hows that for a fast response? Who loves you guys and gals? And BTW Beery, unless they run into a snag our buffs will no longer be automatic with this update as well. They will be targeted.

Ooo! On the performer buffs, a request to RavenMist: please go and test this for us and let us know (hopefully) that it doesn't mean we have to perform for people for an hour before they can fight for two hours. Two hours is much better, but needing an hour of downtime before two hours of fighting would be... er... too much.

I can assure you that it won't take any hour to buff someone, LoL. I'll giveya'll all the details on how it works and how much etc. etc.tomarrow morning after I get done testing it out tonight. Until then, just keep dancing (for joy for a change!)

This is outstanding news, for performers and the rest of the community. Congrats on the love guys.

Can you guys help me understand this, because I am confused.

Old buff situation: buff = +50% mind, 2x duration watched, maximum watch duration = 15 min (translates to 30 min buff duration).

New buff situation: buff = +100% mind, max buff duration = 2 hours... What is the ratio of watch:buff time? Is it still 2x? That would mean someone would have to sit there and watch for an hour to get a 2 hour buff. If not, and it is still 15 minutes, then what about smaller increments. Is it all 8x? So that a 5 min watch = 40 min buff? Someone help me out here.

For both old and new -- resting. How does this work? Does the dancer have to dance, continuously, nonstop, for 15 minutes? How the heck can you do that, unless you never flourish and only dance footloose or something, or lower? Even Formal dance with flourishes I can only do for maybe 8 minutes (never timed it -- that's a guess -- but I know it ain't no 15 minutes).

So does this mean the dancer has to stop really performing and just sit there and do unflourished basic or something to provide the buff?

If so I consider this pretty much a useless add on, as I am never going to dance unflourished dances.

Note: Useless to me. You're all welcome to use it and enjoy it. I just wouldn't ever do unflourished dances myself.

C

Dancer - Increased the effect of dance mind buffs. A master can now increase a stat up to double of its base value. Maximum durations have been increased to 2 hours.

....wow....

As a Wookie Rifleman who's constantly draining his mind bone dry whenever I use my rifle, I have this to say about the development change abovefordancers.......All my credits are belong to you.

"So does this mean the dancer has to stop really performing and just sit there and do unflourished basic or something to provide the buff?"

That's a good point. I like to flourish a lot, and I can run through my action bar in a couple of minutes. I wouldn't like to have tochange to anon-flourish, low-leveldance just to give a mind buff to someone who, let's face it, probably will take it and run without a word of thanks. I mean, the fact that you can target it, doesn't guarantee that the customer will be any more thankful for it, and if it's more ofa hassle to give it anyway, why would I bother. Why do I get the idea thatthe mind buff thing will only be used in the field by dancers who camp out with combat groups?

Added to this, are we even sure that customers know, or even care, that we can give a mind buff. Sure, the power players will probably be breaking down the cantina doors to get them, but it seems to me that these are the same folks who treat dancers like somethingsmelly they stepped in. They're hardly likely to pay much for the buff, if anything. I'd be surprised if many of them evensaid thanks, based on my recent experience with the game. Other, less knowledgeable, players probably haven't a clue that entertainers evengivemind buffs, and I'd guess thatsome don't even know that actively /watching an entertainer heals them faster.

True, the above is all "devil's advocate" stuff, butI fear we'refocusing in on a feature that may not be as big a success as some are predicting - I fear it could be another thing that the developers work very hard on, that will not make much difference to any of the issues we're trying to improve. Anyway, I guess we'll soon find out.

You can in fact stop dancing and start dancing again during the buffing. You must be dancing both when the buffee starts watching (duh) and when they stop watching, however.

Good to know.

Also, to Ravenmist. I notice you addressed to me your comment about the mind buff being targeted. I don't want you to get the impression (from my previous message)that I'm changing my tune over something I was in favour of previously. I've never (as far as I can recall)been a proponent of the mind buff increase, either targeted or otherwise. To be completely frank, Ifear it's achange which will be unappreciated by most ofits recipients, and isunlikely tomake entertainers anymore respected/influential in the game. I hope I'm wrong.

Anyway, I just wanted to make that clear, 'cos it seems you got a different impression of my position on this, judging by your earlier post.

I can't see how anyone would take the buff and run, just make sure you get the credits you want be fore you target them. And the fact that they have increased the mind buff this much, will make a big difference too, I can't say for sure ofcourse. But I just have that feeling

I am really, very happy about this

The mindbuff that food provides will still stack, and also food you can carry with you and use when you need it. I can't see what diffrence this will make to your profession, but I am sorry to see you sad. /comfort
