Thread: How much should I tip you ?
I agree with the majority of the other posters. Tip what you feel comfortable with. I have been tipped 40cr from people who have sent me tells thanking me and apologizing that they don't have much moneyand their sincerity has meant more to me than the l33t d00ds that drool on me and slap my butt and tip me 5k or 10k.
You know better than we do what is affordable to you. And anything is appreciated, even if it's a thank you. It builds a relationship with the customer when they are not afraid to come watch you when they are broke, and that is very important in this business. Your reputation will make or break you.
We are not in this business for the money. There are easier ways to get it. We are here because we enjoy it and isn't that what it's all about? ![]()
Hi,
You have an agreement from me too. I rarely post here, but I am a master dancer and had a fair share of your experiences. I like the fact that many dancers are leaning toward this conclusion.
Few weeks back, I heard a dancer "demanding" for her service because she had no other profession.Macro-ists didn't bother me as much since I do use macro's to connect flourishes. So am I to believe the dancer profession is the begger profession? That's when I left Corellia.
I was making 10,000 credits a hour from the first hour. Once I got a good combat skill, I was earning 20K. Now I can earn about 40k in about a hour or two. I never needed to beg. Tips are so sporadic at best. I wonder why one would make that as the "only" profession. You would be waiting few days for credits to buy a new outfit while I can raid a tailor every hour. ... Tailors beware!

Just to clarify on one server I have a Master Dancer and wont bother logging on much till afk entertainment healing is stopped, most of the friends that were in cantinas when I was going up the tree have either left the game or moved on to different professions. Not only did we greet players, we interacted with them,,and thanked them with tells after receiving a tip,,and had a super time ,,but afk entertaining haschanged that,,,so,,
On the server that I need entertainer healing I use this formula,,,
I listen or watch the first person to greet me when I enter the cantina and tip 100 per bf healed,,
If I am not greeted or ignored during the time I heal, I never tip, I dont expect a lot of interaction ,,but pressing a macro *smile* or someother friendly macro indicates they arent afk and unless that happens I dont tip.
If afk entertainers are the only entertainers are in the cantina I never tip.
Looks like I'm in agreement with just about everybody too.
Someone (and I can't remember who but someone smarter'n me!) noted that if EVERY person tipped the entertainer they /watched or /listened 200 credits EVERY time they came into the cantina, nearly all the entertainers would be fairly well set for credits. I think that's true and I think it's unlikely that will ever be the case.
I don't there are many among us who expect the people who do tip to make up for those that don't. I certainly don't. Tip what you can afford. I've gotten high tips, low tips, and NO tips. Nearly any tip is better than nothing, even if it's in the form of a little interaction!
Hey, Paycheck, thanks for being nice enough to ask!
Wow, I have walked into many a cantina with 500 bf many times. I tip well, but not 50K.

Good and informative thread guys! I personally think its hard to know how much to tip people.
Hi,
Don't bother trying to come up with a system. Just tip whatever you feel like. I really don't care if you tip me at all. I am not in it for cash anyway. (Plus I make good money in methods I can be proud of.) I trade few gossips and couple smiles for a good healing. When buff someone, I tell them tip me whatever. Sometimes people heal me. Sometimes people buy me a drink. Whatever that makes you feel free of guilty conscience.

P.S. Don't lose sleep over it. Idon't careif you don't tip me anyway.
I have some rules that I follow. Please note that these are my personal experiences and your experiences or oppinions may vary:
Do not tip below 100cr. If you cannot afford more, then by all means keep it, you are worse of then I am ! But if you can, it's an insult. Don't be fooled, I don't play only this dancer in only this place. I know **edit** wellhow muchyour weapon and armor costs.
Do not tip AFKers. They are don't provide a service to you, they wrote a bot to cheat xp. No gratitude to egoistic Macrotainers.
Do not tip entertainers in their underwear or kissing you when seeing you for the first time. I'm there for entertainment, not cyberssx.
Do tip people who greet you when you come in. Wow, amazing, a polite, live entertainer... every museum should have one before they go extinct ![]()
I have been an entertainer since beta. I have seen many people come in and tell me to get a job if I need money. "I won't give you any of my hard earned money, go out and earn some yourself". Well, I'm Entertainer, Dancer and Musician, not much points left to kill things with and "get real work", right ? So I went Novice Artisan and went up to "Money Printing IV" ( I think they call it something else in game... ) and guess what ? It's zero risk and I earn more money than any of the 1337 crowd doing missions. I'm probably richer than any fighter coming in. Which means I will not do anything I don't want to do. Need a buff ? Have fun, go get a job to pay me. I'm not charging much because I'm greedy, I'm charging much because I don't feel the difference if you pay me 3K. That's peanuts, change, something I lose on my way to the starport. To bad I "got a job" *g* Now I have one and don't need fighter types any more
Seems they need me though, too bad.

What does that mean?

Wow, that's the lamest attitude I have seen yet from an entertainer. BTW: the richest fighter I know is worth 44 million, and he walks into bars.

Paycheck,
You HAVE to come to the cantina to get your battle fat and mind wounds healed. An entertainer HAS to heal you to get EXP. So my feeling is that were even and you don't owe me a thing (most entertaienrs will disagree with me).
*cough* *sputter*
I'm shocked to read that in the Dancer forum. I suppose that some Entertainers do really feel that XP is their payment. But the XP is for the benefit of the patron and does no good for Masters. Er, let me dig up an old post.

Perhaps this may not change your mind, Sultrina, but I felt I had to get that off my chest.
That being said, I'm good with anything from 20 on up. The comment that if you can't afford 100 credits then you are worse off than the Entertainer is very true. When I started a new character, I meekly shrugged and said, "I wish it were more." Now his cash is about 30k, so I can put forth a few hundred credits. If I ever mind myself in dire straits, I'll kick in a lot more.
And AFK Entertainers do get nothing. I made a lot of comments in one cantina waiting for the Rodian dancer to answer. I started insulting the dancer (yeah, my secondary character is a racist jerk). I sent a /tell to the dancer along the lines of, "Playing the silent dancer type?" Once I verified that he was AFK, I left with a few rude comments and a private tell (which should have been an e-mail) indicating how he missed out on a tip.
My dancer character is happy with a "thank you." She is happy with money. I'd say that a 1-credit tip is a definite insult. If someone does 20, I don't know if he means to be insulting or is just unaware of the economy (or is dirt poor). With a 1-credit tip, it's pretty much a given that it's an intentional insult. I'll respond appropriately. Usually, it's a snide, "Oh, well, if you cannot complete the easy missions, then you need this more than I do. Here you can have it back." Make sure you wait a little bit. Someone could have meant to type /tip 100 and hit return too early. heh.

I mean what I mean. Figure that one out.
Yes, I don't have much respect for those who only engage in only one single method of game play especially when that method requires heavy dependence of other people. (Yeah tip's dependence because it isn't commission. You only get it because your customer wills it.)
