Falling intentionally is best done via the exotic dances. My opinion (mine alone) is exotic 4 is probably the easiest. I can pretty much intentionally fall about 80% of the time I want to.
Some might say "So?". Well.. let me tell ya, intentional falls can actually be handy. I like to follow one with a "That was your chance to catch me" line or something. Heck, even if you fall unintentionally, follow it with that line and it will APPEAR to be intended.
Now here is Fifi's MAIN tip to successful dancing for tips:
Get them to look at you. That is what it is all about. Once you get them to look at you, then you win them over with your skill. The main competition is who they look at when they walk in the door. And trust me, the majority of people walk right past the people crowded around the door, and they ignore the spammers. That narrows it down to ATK dancers pretty fast. People that would rather watch the AFK dancers are not really people that will become ANYONES regular customer. The bread and butter is repeat customers and you CANNOT macro those!!
