After taking a new toon thru Legacy to level 64, and another CL80 to CL90, I've concluded that this game is bereft of value, and no MMORPG can survive so many role and economic devestations.

I wish I had the time to devote to it. I'd gladly put my name in the mix if I did. That being said I think Dath would make a wonderful corr. Never have I known her to back down on something she feels is important and I think right now that may be one of the most important qualities our correspondent could have.

*Note that I am in NO WAY saying that any of the previous coors backed down on anything. I'm simply stating my support for Dath should she choose to apply*

Ican think of a couple of people id rather see as a dancer correspondant before myself.

But without knowing who has gone for the position i figured i would go forward myself, i've a lot of spare time for quite a while so id happily take on the role if it was given. So goodluck those that applied, whoever gets the position will not getbored i am sure

THE UNFILTERED VERSION:

Player Correspondent Opening: Dancer

  • Are you knowledgeable about the Dancer profession as it relates to combat?
  • Are you a community leader yet a yes person? IE: when we say were going to destroy your proffession in the name of combat and ask you if its ok... will you say yes?
  • Can you objectively identify relevant issues and distinguish them from simply passionate arguments (such as those that wouldn't relate to combat)?
  • Do you like organizing information and corresponding with other members of a community? Can you "look busy" so it looks like were busy on your proffession while actually doing nothing we care about?

The Development Team is looking for a volunteer correspondent for the Dancer Profession. Participation is completely voluntary and you can stop helping out at any time. We’re just looking for someone who can help us sort through the various issues for this profession so we can effectively spend Zero time on it.

Some things that you need to consider when applying:

  • Developing online games takes a long time. Results happen with long time involvement. Expect years and years before we bother to listen to non combatant items.
  • Player Correspondents should be leaders in their community and set a positive tone. Even if its a bold faced lie.
  • Player Correspondents should understand the technical aspects of playing the profession and the needs of their community. Things like how you'll support combatants and how we can get them to interact with you as little as possible.
  • Player Correspondents should be in touch with the communities concerns, understanding the essence of why players pursue their chosen profession. So that we may be able to toss them a bone once and a while to appease/ quiet them while actually doing no work.
  • Please include your forum name in the letter and you'll be chosen based on how well we feel we can placate you.

If this is something you are interested in, please write a short paragraph on why you think you would be a good candidate and email it to [email protected]. Please put Dancer Correspondent in the Subject Line. By submitting this email to us, you agree to allow us to contact you in connection with Star Wars Galaxies and agree that all correspondence with and material submitted to SOE will be the exclusive property of SOE and SOE may use such materials without limitation and in its sole discretion.

After we have reviewed the submissions, we will pick one person to be our correspondent. We will set them up with a special community title here on the forums and ask them to help highlight for us the relevant issues relating to this profession.

We will still continue to monitor the forums and read as many threads as we can. The correspondent is just to help us focus on the top issues and community concerns of the profession.

Thank you.

*Note: please make your letter the main body of the text. E-mail attached items are automatically deleted as part of our spam filter.

Over the months, there have been a few of you who wanted me to apply for the correspondent position. And now, like those times before, I must decline.

I'm too much of an advocate to do the position justice. What we need--more than anything else--is an ambassador, not an advocate. We need somebody who doesn't see this as a position of leadership as much as it is a position of service to all of us on these boards and in the game. We need someone to be our voice, not our mind and our heart.

Know that anything you say will be different once you wear the blue tag. No longer will you be "just another poster." Every word you utter to us will be read with great care, deliberated, and approached with a seriousness you may not be used to. Because for better or for worse, we have no choice but to assume that what we read from a correspondent is what the developers themselves are reading, and what they are saying. And if opinions clash or seem too radical, be prepared to receive some criticism. The position requires a subtle type of diplomatic skill, and above all, a non-judgementalnature. Difficult to attain, but vitally important to possess.

Ravenmist, Panthu, and Xyrdre were good correspondents not because they tried to move us in a direction, but rather related all directions to the development staff. For the most part they have done well. I would like this to continue for all our sakes. We have many articulate, well meaning community members. We all deserve to be heard.

I know myself enough to understand that while I understand and have some knowledge of the history of the professions, this alone is not enough to be a correspondent. I do hope that the one who does become our next correspondent understands what their role is, and what it is not. We shall not be led by our correspondent. We shall be served by our correspondent.
