As I've mentioned a couple of times, I worked for several years for ammorpg which was badly damaged by unattended play. I also played that game, ran a guild and my main character's profession was the one most detrimentally effected by the AFK play. During that time, I was very outspoken regarding myopinion against unattended play, both amongst players and staff members (players never knew that I was staff). It took several years before the game's management wasable to address the legal and coding hurdles and put a stop to unattendedplay in thatlong established game.Whether or not I am correspondent, when the time comes that unattended play is addressed in this game, I willdo everything that I can to assurethat our concerns are addressed in full.

My contribution to a thread in the Jedi forums about Radiant AFK Jedi getting "pwnt":

AFK Entertainers were never needed, they were just the product of people willing to pay $15 per month to systematically destroy a playstyle that is unique to SWG - so they could benefit in combat. This is why Entertainers are now "useless" and have a 10% xp buff - because combat players seem very much keen on making alts to not only destroy professions, but also playstyles and communities, if it benefits them. And it wasn't enough to benefit from the Entertainer, heavens no, the bot owners had to provide them to everyone for free, and be nimrods about being a bot...how fabulous it was, how it didn't break any rules, it was their playstyle choice, it was GOOD for the game, and so forth.

Well, most all combat folks feircely defended AFK'ers, yet now there's unbridled joy at Jedi AFK'ers getting destroyed by NPC's who were likely spawned by some lame renegade CSR who selectively decided to take the matter into their own hands.

All of the joy expressed in this thread, and countless others like it, simply displays the hypocrisy of the SWG playerbase. AFK is fine if it hurts non-combat professions to benefit combat, but if it hurts a combat profession, then throw confetti and bounce around the room when a CSR spawns NPC's to "pwn" AFK'ers.

The simple fact of the matter is that AFK is inherently bad for this game, and the Dev team's lack of action regarding it will only harm the game further, in various ways, until it's finally deemed the destructive thing it truly is and is eradicated from SWG.

As far as I'm concerned, whoever spawned the NPC's should be fired - not because they shouldn't have done it to the Jedi, not because AFK is okay and they shouldn't have spawned the NPC's, simply because whoever the hell it was that spawned them was needed in cantinas around the galaxies months ago, and not one of them did a dang thing to help Entertainers who were mired in AFK/bot/incessant macro blathering. I've had it with fly-by-night CSR's who change policy according to their own terms. I want consistency in running this game - let Jedi AFK freely and get full template in a couple weeks if AFK is allowed...if it's not allowed, destroy all AFK'ers around the galaxies regardless of their profession.

It's okay to make the gameplay experience of combat players better by killing AFK'ers with specially-spawned NPC's, but I guess it's not okay for non-combatants like Entertainers to have fun in the game, too - by not having to deal with AFK'ers. I call BS on the CSR's, and whoever amongst them that spawned these NPC's should be shown the door swiftly, because I've had it with their on-the-spot logic and wavering policies.

Either AFK is fine and dandy, or AFK is worthy of being obliterated by spawned NPC's, sending you to the cloners.

It's crap that non-combatants are to have their games turned to a steaming pile of macro blatherings and zombie group members, but combatants get their wishes granted when too many Jedi are killing too many Wookiees.

You guys make up your minds, and while you're at it - tell the CSR's to do the same. AFK, or no AFK...it's one or the other.

I'm tired of the hypocrisy.

And then one more reply:

The interpretation of the EULA, as exemplified countless times through the Entertainer nightmare, was that unattended gameplay is only punishable if a third-party macro is used to accomodate it.

I've contacted a CSR, CSR_JasonP on Starsider, when people were AFK macro'ing in the Aakuan cave, and he said, "that's not illegal."

It's just exceptionally annoying that some CSR's actually follow policy, while others decide to break policy to hurt Jedi...yet there were 100's of Entertainers who suffered through pre-CU AFK'ing nightmares, and have STILL stuck in the game, yet if you dare ask any CSR to remove an AFKing Entertainer, it's like asking them to askthe king to get off of their throne.

The "just continue playing the way we see fit" concept is all well and good, however the problem will remain until something is done about it. It will compound until it seriously hurts this game, maybe irretrievably. This process may already have begun with all the macro'ing Jedi.

it's just too bad all of this nonsense and potential harm to the game could've have been completely and totally avoided, however combat people just HAD to have their Entertainer slave bots churning out free Mind buffs.

Sucks that AFK grinding Jedi have made Jedi a mockery, doesn't it?

All for the cost of buffs that aren't even in the freakin' game anymore.

gg kthxbye

OMG...you have NO IDEA how much this whole thing pisses me off. I had a couple of go rounds of the exact same thing on the Kettemoor forums. I didn't realize that it wasn't an isolated incident.

But, it seems now that it's affecting combat players...Jedi boards, galaxy boards, other boards...they're all screaming "STOP AFK."

And, what's even worse, is some people don't even frickin see how things are similar to the entertainer struggle. Seriously, every time I see one of those hypocritical, short sighted posts I want to claw someone's eyes out.

I am seriously livid, you don't even know.

Yup, same here.

Its the typical Double Standard we see imposed on the entertainer community by those who simply don't care unless it disrupts their ability to use/abuse the system. I've been around this merri-go-round so many times on Sunrunner and been called everything from a whiner, useless character to even a "zealot" (and that was by a so-called Dancer colleague, most likely a bot themself).

Its just like the uproar when AFK starport loot campers where considered a problem, yet very few equated the camping of newbie spawn areas to be akin to camping floor space in the cantina. Even the argument stating that you are an merchant who makes and sells their products with pride, then along comes me and I set up a vendor with the same products right next to your one and sell everything for one credit - as an analogy example of how buffbots degraded our profession.

Aye, makes my blood boil as well.

Maybe someone should argue that the AFK Jedi are providing a valuable service by keeping the trail safe for CL1AFK Entertainers to perform there

- Neeill Orkaorchi, Elder Entertainer/Elder Musician, Intrepid
- Nai'ren, Trader, Intrepid
- ATK and enjoy your day

Drop Off Vendor: FOE Canyon, Talus (4408, 2199)

There's a guy on my server (Naritus) who camps a set of caves where loot drops (Not sure which ones... did not pay that much attention) but basically he does it as an industry. He has some looped macro and uses it to AFK-macro-loot and then has some contract people he sells the loot to. Everyone was complaining because he stops OTHER people from getting the loot and since he is AFK all the time, and never stops, he's basically taken total control of that cave system, and there is no way to get rid of him. Yup... this is exactly the same problem dancers always complained about. The combatants are just NOW noticing that this is bad for the game? LOL...

Yup, its mainly the Geo caves on Sunrunner - and to be perfectly honest I say all the power to the BHs who go in there and clean them out. But it is incredibly frustrating that we are constantly faced with thisdouble standard - the majority of combat players couldn't give us toss about the AFK problems entertainers have, but oooooh nooooo, as soon as it starts encroaching on the combat arena - its a whole new kettle of fish.
