Thread: no afk xp

Not nothing at all but to master an elite profession.most people who go in a cantina dont pay much attention to the lower level ents because they dont have buffs or they're not as good. Therefore the money doesnt come in which, in any profession, is needed wether to buy instruments or clothing or a new house or furniture, just anything that combat trades get to buy.I know, if i dont like it i should just go to combat trades...fair enough but again in all fairness i would like to have been able to work my character up the way everybody else has.Wether its for the conversation or meeting people or whatever, everybody has been afk and everybody has used a macro.
Ever thought about the possibility that noone ever tips you because you ARE AFK?
Think about it.
If I come to a cantina on my combat char to get a buff, I tip the ATK entertainers only (and that doesn't mean those without a (AFK) tag above their head, but those that actually reacted and talked to me). Who cares if I get my buff in 1 or 3 minutes? I don't.
If you're afk, I won't even watch you, much less give you money.
On my dancer I have no problems getting tips, if you chat and interact with the people they will tip you. Not all certainly, but some.
Oh and I /ex dancers/musician, and if they have a "top 10 tippers list" they won't get my money either, no matter if AFK or not.

Not to beat this dead horse, but there are lots of entertainers, dancers, and musicians who worked towards mastery of their professions while looking at their characters for hours on end for months just for experience, without going AFK while skill animating. And they enjoyed it because they were interacting with people.
It took me three months to master dancer the first time around, and I didn't even learn how to do an alias macro until two weeks ago(more the newb, me). I think you'll find this is somewhat common here.

working up towards a master dancer or musician is too tedious for the amount of money gotten so maybe the best solution is to get rid of the entertainer professions
I think you may find that if you interact with the people in the cantinas instead of going AFK, or go out to where there are people to interact with, you won't find it tedious, nor will you be worrying about money. I'm sure there's a better solution to your problem; suggesting the removal of all entertainer professions because you don't enjoy being at the keyboard sounds a little extreme.
It would be nice if this bug were a feature instead. ![]()
I think 3 months is normal for playing a normal schedule 100% ATK. That's what it took me the first time and that's the amount I hear others say the most too. My second time took me under a week.
Two weeks of hardcore ATK leveling has gotten me to master too. I've mastered so many times though, I just don't really understand the point of pushing any of the methods. I play level ATK usually because it's more fun and I can mess around with other profs while I do it. I AFK level in a private place where no one can see my av or get to it and I know I'm not hurting anyone else if I'm in a rush.
I've never really understood why anyone would care how someone levels as long as it doesn't hurt them. *shrug* I've got my 100% atk leveler badge though, many times over. I'm just not a purist about it, heh.

Clarification: I never expected tips from being afk because people will usually watch the master dancer/musician to get faster buffs which is the reason why i want to speed up the leveling process, so that then, i may get some tips as well, atk.as far as finding a spot in the desert to afk, i do it in cantinas so i can be grouped and get more xp.i dont use this game as a chat room although i do communicate with others, i just want to play it.And like old blue eyes said " I did it myyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyy"![]()
A few reasons why afkers annoy us:
- They take up space, often drifting all over the place, "bumping" into tables people are roleplaying at.
- They generally give people the impression that we are all afk.
- They make bots possible.
Now you can minimize the impact, as you mentioned, but usually the afkers have some annoying tip me/invite me macro, and spam flourishes that move them through the whole cantina, or even spam light effects that lag out people.

How does being afk disturb other peoples gameplay? others dont usually tip afk'ers and thats fine, i agree with that.I just dontseehow mebeing there (my macro is all about flourishes,no spam) can bug other performers though.I dance in one of the booths and cant really be seen but i still stay with my group. You may not agree with levelling that way and to be honest, i think its a bit lazy myself but it is as it is and i'm gonna use it.Although all you will be happy to note that i'm still not getting xp by being afk. guess i'll have to do it the old fashioned way.I'm mostly just annoyed at this bug affecting my character, thats all.

I have to ask you then: Why did you choose to become a dancer if you're clearly not interested in interaction?
You know what the term "Social Profession" means?

There's a whole thread devoted to this issue somewhere, and others here have already summed up the major issues, but . . .
It cheapens the profession when you AFK in public: Sure, players don't have to tip AFK entertainers, but for those just there to get a quick inspiration buff, they're certainly not going to offer credits to anyone when there's a cow from which they can get the milk for free with only a few more seconds of waiting.
It also encourages other new players to play AFK in public which increases the problems and discourtesies mentioned above.
Do you think it's a good idea or "fair" to have people AFK macroing their way to a elite combat profession mastery or parking themselves on a loot spot to AFK loot? I don't think anyone running a character unattended in a public area while they're asleep, out of the house, or just too bored with the profession to actually play the game, should ever be able to provide or obtain the same benefits as a character played by a person at the keyboard, regardless of profession.
Choosing a social profession when you don't want to be social (or playing an entertainer when you don't want to entertain) is about like playing special forces and complaining that people are shooting at you, or playing a crafter and not enjoying making or selling things. I'm confused; are you sure you want to be a dancer? This isn't a /respec thing is it? ![]()
