Thread: Too Scary To Marry
I have a problem with being stalked by various strangepeople as well
One little bothan would sit and stare at me, hand me roses, and basically follow me around the cantina without saying a single word. That went on for a few days, until I stopped smiling and thanking him. Another started off by telling me all about his divorced status, the size of his....body, andhow much he loves his kids. I usually start off being friendly and playing a bit, but there's only so much you can take. I guess they're excited by a female character that flirts with nearby females. Until I tell them I'm a male irl. ![]()
Oh, that initial shock is classic. I have to shake my head at the people who seem to want an rl relationship as soon as they see Eira's cleavage...

I've been dancing for about 6 months in game now and I've found there's a few things you can do to avoid most of the stalker types, and if you're lucky most of the simply annoying, juvenile players.
- Be professional with them - make them realise you're an entertainer and a real person, not just eye candy. Some ways to do this are not to call them 'hun' or 'sweetie' or other generic pet names - it's nice in theory, but used on the abundance of juvenile players in the game all it does (from what I've seen) is makes them overly confident and then they start hitting on you. Blech.
- Don't be afraid to stand your ground - too many entertainers are super nice and will ignore comments or actions that they would never ignore in real life. Example - I was waiting at a starport one day and forgot I still had my AFK tag on, a male character came up and /licked my character and then decided to slap her on the butt. I said out loud 'What the hell do you think you're doing??', and his lame response was 'oh, I thought you were afk', but he also got laughed at by everyone waiting for the shuttle and I doubt he'll try that trick again. I think simply that if you want to be treated and respected like a real person in the game you have to draw the line where you would draw it in real life, plus you've got that wonderful /ignore function
Use it! It makes your life easier, and it teaches immature players that they can't treat someone with disrespect and have everything continue as normal.
Anyway that's just my $0.02
. Re the marriage proposals I've had my fair share of them, but usually once I tell them I'm already married they drop the subject.
