Thread: Too Scary To Marry

I get mean if polite refusal doesn't work. I always try polite first though a few times...
Edit: Oopsy, posted too fast! Anyway... if it's a kid joking around and being silly, I can usually turn it around in to something funny. I like that better. ![]()

I get a few proposals a week. Guys just walk up and next thing you know they're down on one knee and all I can think is, "Oh good lord..here it comes again.". Fortunately (with the exception of some kid just after launch who would just stand there and stare at me..this went on for about a week), I've yet to have anyone not accept it when I just politely said, "No thanks, I'm taken."
I did have a problem in another game with a guildmate who wouldn't acceptno as an answer. Eventually he had to be removed from the guild as many people were becoming uncomfortable with his outbursts and displays. The weirdest part was he was playing a female avatar and became angry, threatening me in e-mails, because I was unwilling to roleplay along with him that my female character was his character's lover!!
One of the saddest things I've ever seen inSWG though involved a girl in the cantina in Coronet. Some of ushad noticed this guy was just standing there staring at her, finally someone in group asked if everything was ok. She explained that the guy had been following her around asking her to marry him several times a day for weeks. Her friends had advised her to just be nice and he would eventually go away. He obviously wasn't going anywhere. Some in group talked about how this was just a game and wasn't real. Others told about some of their experiences and how they had felt threatened in a very real way, including being contacted in ways more personal than in game. One of the guys who had originally been of the "it's not real" persuasion had a change of heart and pretty much told the offending fellow, in no uncertain terms, that his presence was not wanted. He left.
If it were me being harrassed in this game, I'd use the in game means of reporting the harrasser as described in the sticky on the ID forum and not speak a word to the offender. I think if you talk to them, they're more likely to try to get closer thanto just go away. It is far too easy for real life contact information to be found over the Internet.
I've never had a gay guy hit on me in this game. LOL...I'm not sure I've even met one that let me know about it.
Haven't been proposed to by a woman either. heh...
I really can't understand this considering how hot my avatars are.
I only seem to get proposals in the NPC cantinas - obviously no one bothers to read bios anymore since mine clearly states that I'm married ingame (I'm also married out of game). I have had a few sticky situations with guys wanting to either marry me or get a lot friendlier than I want (including a couple that wanted to get to know me out of game . . .). Just this past weekend some guy (kid, most likely) dropped down on a knee and begged me to marry him after simply giving him a buff! I told him I was married, and he emoted that he grabbed my ankles and started to kiss my feet!! I told him to stop it and he backed off some, but offered me 3 million credits to divorce Roho and marry him!! As IF a measily 3 million would replace Roho! Fortunately, the group leader (a guy) decided to try and take him up on his offer!
He disappeared fast!! At the same time I had some guy sending me tells that started out friendly enough but all too quickly became a bit more personal than I felt comfortable with.
I also had a Mon Cal threaten to kill Roho once and force me to marry him . . . he was roleplaying and didn't keep it up more than a few minutes, so I let it slide. It figures that would be the time Roho would get a phone call in RL and be completely clueless about the whole thing! ![]()

Ub-ick is little miss CoA... Center of Attention! She loves to have all eyes on her when she performs and flirst outrageously when she does. She's not a deva about it or anything, just loves what she does ![]()
This of course gets her into big trouble. I've had a few guys who wanted a female Twi'lek dancer in their pockets. Lots of proposals, marriage and otherwise ![]()
I first try to roleplay it out. I say I'm married to my profession first, have no time to settle down, places to go, people to meet! If they become insistent, then I start to be so as well. The "No means no" line, and I usually do it in spacial so that everyone knows I'm being harassed.
Anything beyond that and I usually tell them that they've been reported. Sometimes I don't actually report them, but either way that's when the begging for forgiveness usually starts.
I hate it when it gets that far, since that means I've lost an audience member. But there's no way I'd allow someone to ruin my fun time. ![]()
