It's called 'hope' and 'lack of options'. If any other game offered anything like this instead of the regular old hack and slash, and did it better, I'd have long since left.

Beery don't be so paranoid, the Devs are not stringing anyone along. Almost no profession has seen any changes in the last 2 publishes, its not just a big conspiracy against Entertainers. They've been putting all their time into Player Cities, Mounts and Vehicles the last two months and FYI, the dev that did the vehicles is also the same dev that works on Dancers. Yes they may be undermaned but they are not stringing anyone along. Once the bugs and major kinks are worked out of the Vehicles and Mounts we should start getting some changes made for us again. In fact I think we'll start seeing some things in the next publish, but it may be one later. Can't say what just yet.

If you left the profession then thats fine.. but please don't come back here causing more trouble like you use to when you where a dancer, your negative attitude isn't needed. Theres a lot of professions that need some love from the Devs right now and have for a long time, and we'll all start getting some soon. Believe it or not there are professions that are more pointless and broken then Entertainers in this game. When the top 5 is posted hopefully beforeChristmas you'll all have a better idea where we stand oncertain issues and what time frame we're looking at. If you have complaints still then feel free to post them but leave theDailyStar conspiracy theories out of it.

> Why do you keep doing this when players want you to disappear [...]

I will not speak for others, but I get requests constantly to heal and buff people. I sometimes find it hard to explore outside the cantina. I rarely can gomore than 30 minuteswithout getting a tell from someone asking me to come back and give them a buff. I am also working on doctor, so I like to hang out in the cantina to help heal the action of other dancers. That is extremely hard to do, since I always end up with my dancing clothes on and buffing people.

I'd like to think I am wanted and needed, but maybe it is the clothes.

"Beery don't be so paranoid, the Devs are not stringing anyone along."

Well it's been 6 months since I last wrote on this subject. I cancelled my account in December, and I just started it up again yesterday. I wanted to come back to the game to see if anything serioushad been done to fix my beloved profession. So far, after a day checking things out, it doesn't seem like much has changed. Entertainer missions are still useless, I still fall down while dancinglike an amateur, and entertainers are AFK-ing more than they were before I left. I spent much of yesterday in a cantina full of around 20 entertainers, speaking only to the two who actually bothered to be at the keyboard. Meanwhile, the macrotip requestspam was much worse than it was 6 months ago. The only obvious changes are that Master entertainers can now teach Master Entertainer, and they can set up private cantinas. Whoopee! Is that it??? Six months of development and nothing at all has been done to fix the basic underlying problems with theentertainer professions.

Dofolks herestill claim they are not being strung along? How many updates need to go by before entertainers start to realise that the developers simply don't care enough to fix the profession??? I mean it's been 6 months. Are you going to sit by for another 6? Another year? 5 years? When is enough enough?

Why are entertainer missions still totally useless? Why aren't they at least changed back to when they actually encouraged entertainers to travel??? I mean the current system STILLactively encourages AFK-play, even with the active buff feature they installed just before I left in December.

Necroposting is bad for you. It may seem rather safe, but clinical studies have shown that necroposting can cause all kinds of adverse side effects, such as clotting, bloating, sores, stomach aches, headaches, fever, hallucinations, decreased white blood count, shorter eyelashes, hairy palms, blurry eyesight, ingrown toenails, constriction of the throat, ear infections, nose infections, lung infections, tooth decay, muscle decay, a strong desire to watch Baywatch reruns, skin irritations, nosebleeds, vomiting, coughing, sneezing, hacking, excessive porn website browsing, discoloration in the left thigh, weight gain, weight loss, dizziness, nausea, mad cow, tipped cow, a reduction in your appetite, decreased libido, carpal tunnel syndrome, sweaty palms, brittle bones, wandering tongue, arthritis, a knee that can tell the weather, lesions, flaky skin, loss of bowel control, loss of motor control, loss of cruise control, an urge to eat peanuts, an allergy to peanuts, glaucoma, bruised ribs, bruised knuckles, bruised ego, and even the spontaneous growth of a tail.

Necroposting. Hehe. Haven't heard that one before. Sadly, the issue is still veryrelevant, and since I've been away for a while I think the readers deserve some context - which must come from 6 months ago when I posted last. Anyway, I thinkthe issue isworth proper consideration.

Believe me, I understand where you're coming from, Beery. Yes many of us are totally disenchanted with what the devs have done to our professions. There arefour things that hold me in this game.

1. Community - I am a Master Entertainer/Master Musician on Bria, and we have a thriving community of LIVE entertainers who actively work together to support our professions and those who are in them. Yes, the field of live entertainers is continuing to shrink on all servers, but there are still enclaves of us who have not been driven from the game or to new professions.

2. The EntertainmentProfessions - I love being an Entertainer and a Musician, and in the past I have with one character or another always had a Dancer as well. I love what variety we currently have in our dances and songs right now (of course, I do want more!), and they continue to entertain me just as I strive to entertain my customers with them. One "positive" thing about the hologrind is that people are used to hearing just SW1, Rock, or SW2. They are also used to hearing a variety of songs played together (uggh). When they are given the opportunity to listen to songs which are not often played, and on instruments not often used, I think more people realize the worth of live entertainers.

3. Spite - If the devs intend to run our professions into the ground, I plan to be there 'til the end, a constant thorn in their sides reminding them of the professions they apparentlywant to forget.

4. JTL - This has nothing to do with entertainer which is why it is last in this list, but it is one of the primary reasons (tied with Community)I remain with Galaxies. The reason I originally bought Galaxies was because it was a Star Wars RPG, someplace where I could create my own adventures in the Star Wars galaxy. My dream was to create a Mon Calamari artisan and gather credits, resources, friends, and customersso I would be able to become the best Shipwright in the galaxy when the space expansion came out. I still have that Mon Cal character, and I still plan on becoming the best Shipwright when JTL comes out.

So yes, I'd say that virtually every Entertainer knows we are not important to the devs. We play because we love our community, we love our profession, and we love ourselves...even if the devs don't.

If you are not feeling accepted on your current server, I invite you to visit Bria. You will find some of the live entertainers on almost all the time. You can also join Ent chat on Bria, a chat channel which is usually running and allows the entertainers to keep in better contact than through /tells. If you do decide to come to Bria, you can contact me and I'll be happy to help in whatever ways I can.

I agree with most of what you've written, except for reason 3 - the 'spite' argument. Sticking with the game out of spite just encourages developer apathy. The longer entertainers hang around, the less developers feel they need to make changes. I also value the entertainer professions, but surely enough is enough. I like the idea of an entertainer profession too much to actively encourage thedevelopers' abuse of these professions.

I was a Master Dancer and am currently a pistoleer with minimal skills as adancer and musician. I gave up dancing abilities to get pistol skills because although I loved dancingand much as Ihate wasting poor critters, I just can't standbeing made a patsy by developers who clearly have no intention of actuallyfixing the entertainer professions. This nonsense has been going on for a year now, and entertainershave either left the profession (or the game)altogether, or they'restill standing by in the forlornhope that their abuser will stop beating them.

This game could have changed MMORPGs forever, making it possible for players who weren't thrilled by the idea of murdering innocent bunniesto actively participate. So far thedevelopers have failed to do anything more than make a joke out of the non-violent professions.

Thanks for your invite to come over to Bria. If there's a way to transfer a character, please let me know, as I've grown to despise Tempest. I joined it as a complete neophyte, not knowing that as a PvP serverit would be overrun with 1337s. I like my character too much to give her up though.

"Has the progress of the entertainer professions really been so stagnant? Until I created my character on Ahazi, I had nearly no first-hand experience with Dancer skills. My initial impression of the various entertainer skill trees has been positive, but the longer one plays, the more faults they find with the profession they're pursuing."

It's not faults with the profession that become clear as you continue to play. That's not reallythe issue I'm concerned with. The faultsthat trouble mewere glaring on day one of starting an entertainer - that is if you started after the entertainer missions were nerfed (I think that was backin August if my memory serves). Entertainer missions simply don't work in any useful way, and this has become worse as the developers meddled with it. There used to be a time when taking a mission would take you off planet and give you some kind of reward. That was changed for the worse about a week after I first started playing. Now all missions pay less than $200 and none of them take you anywhere new. You may as well borrow a gun from some pistoleerand go out and kill something - you get more money by taking the simplesthunting mission. There's simply nothing inducing anyone to take an entertainer mission. The feature is completely useless.

As to whether the entertainer profession development really has been so stagnant - well yes, it has been. I just took a close look at the professions development through all the patches. Entertainers got something like 3 minor adjustments, and the positive value of all of them is debatable. Meanwhile the vast majority ofother professions have had major improvements done.

I was speaking of my own personal exposure to the 'faults' of the profession I had no idea base dances did not display properly when I picked up Dancer, did not realize how pointless and boring missions were, and believed all 8 flourishes did something different with each dance. Oh, how naive I was The longer I play as a Master Dancer, the more I realize how little attention the devs have paid us. Alot of starting dancers don't realize what the potential of the profession is, nor do they realize some of the negative turns it seems to have taken. It's really time to educate the community, and arm them with the knowledge of who to contact, who to petition, and where they can find the chorus of voices speaking in favor of immediate changes/fixes to the profession.

BTW, we've got a good correspondent on the case, so we'll see what's around the corner for us I still have alot of fun as a Dancer, even with the multitude of little 'quirks' we have to endure.

I hate to sound pessimistic (trust me it comes through months of negative experience waiting for the developers to do something), but that's exactlywhat they said about the previous correspondent, and it's exactly how they used to rationalize sitting and waiting six months ago. The problem is, we don't need a good correspondent. We need a fundamentalchange of attitude on the part of the developers. However good the correspondent is, he/she isn't going to get anywhere unless the developers have a complete sea change in the way they treat our profession. That clearly hasn't happened, and I don't see any signs of it happening. Just look at the development publish archives. Nothing is happening.
