Thread: Wow! Why couldn't the Theater Manager's Quest be Like THIS?!

I want fun quests and real missions for us. Neat ways to interact with the game and take part in stories with NPCs... but I have to admit I don't actually like straight questing myself. Even with combat, I like it to be an optional way to level and get goodies - I want to have the option of static spawn locations where you can just hunt while you level and get loot/money.

The option is nice. Sometimes you are in the mood to interact with the game world in a very scripted manner and other times you just want to be in the game world doing your thing. I really think that games that ignore either mode really suffer from their bias *cough*WoW*cough*.

So when this is done full out for Entertainers, I hope we have a lot of options:

Dance game type quests like the Theater Quest

Cantina story quests like this new one that can expand into real Spy/Informant roles

Our normal activity - just doing our own performances or socializing in the Cantina (with anATK check-in)

It would be nice to see a hefty reward (XP/creds/loot)for these active options though - like four hours of doing one of these interactive options would equal twenty hours of doing something non-interactive.

I don't like that!!! I don't want to be FORCED into doing a dance or a flourish I dont like....

Sorry... Somone had to say it....

Option, just an option. I think it would be bad as a forced thing. Could be fun as an option.

I like this idea - kinda like helping that Twi'lek in KOTOR. Granted that implementation was a little silly and very simplistic, but a type of quest where you had to accompany another dancer or a musician, and the point was to follow their lead could be kinda fun. You could succeed or fail based on how long it takes you to follow the lead and whether you make too many mistakes selecting the wrong dance/song or wrong flourish. It would be kind of a test to see how well you know your profession. The lead dancer/musician could switch between different dances or songs too to make it more of a challenge. You could even have missions like this on Ent. terminals. The premise could be something like, "we need a dancer/musician to fill in for one act, and we need someone who can follow a cue" or "Jabba is sponsoring auditions for a new private dance troupe. If you think you can keep up with the group, show us what you've got.". You could vary the difficulty by requiring the player to be in closer synch with the leader, and by allowing fewer mistakes. That could be fun to try.

Nothing makes you feel like you've been kicked in the stomach like having an audience tell you your outfit is tacky and then failing the audition because they wouldn't tell you what they wanted. But if they could remove a bit of the randomness then I'd be all for more of that style. I enjoyed the concept behind it, I just didn't like the "sorry about your luck" implementation.

That's the only part that really bugs me too (other than the rude comments from the NPCs, heh). The roll wouldn't be bad if you could do it right away again. The roll for info along with the timer is just too much though - it's fun sapping to have to wait to try again at something you have no control over failing.

It wouldn't be so bad if it were a one hour wait. The 24 hours of in game time is a bit too much though in my opinion.

I really liked the noob entertainer quest. Mayabe it's cause I did the other four first. Kill 25 Tuskesn, harvest this and build some traps, build one of every survying tool, ecscort this guy to there. Still iwas pretty cool, too bad there's nothing else like that after it. Maybe the "Music is my life" thing will come into play later down the road. Least I hope it will.
