Just for the heck of it, I went to Mos Eisley and did the New Player Introductory Quests. After fulfilling all of the basic "learning how the game works" quests, I got sent to the Mos Eisley Mayor, who offerened me some profession specific quests. So I took the Entertainer Specific Quest, which starts by sending you to an Entertainer Contact in the Mos Eisly Cantina.
This was a FUN quest! I was first sent to three different towns where I performed for a few minutes, then talked to an NPC to gain some information to take back to my Entertainer Contact in Mos Eisley. Then I was sent to a party where I performed for ten minutes and got a few pop-ups containing information that I "overheard" at the party. The quest finished by my returning once again to my Entertainer Contact to "report" on what I had "overheard" at the party.
The pay wasn't all that much, but the quest itself was so much fun that I didn't really care... and I also got 500 points of EH xp to top it all off.
All in all, whoever designed this quest did a much better job than whoever did the Theater Manager Quest. It would have been so much better than the stupid "spam flos until you staisfy the audience" crap that we have to do for the Theater Manager's Quest.
I did get something of a shock when the "air raid siren" went off the first time. I thought the cantina was under attack or something, but it was just the 10 seconds left on the timer warning.

Wow! This is very cool. In my RP I have taken up the role of information specialist because of the things I can and do overhead dancing and IDing (because we all know people tell their hairdresses things they wouldn't tell anyone else
). It's great to see that role actually supported in quests for us.

I agree, this sounds like a much more fun quest than grinding the # of people listening to you (blargh) or flourishing for 2 minutes to randomly chosen flourishes on randomly chosen songs/dances.

I hate to be contradictory, but I thought this quest was even a bit duller... I didn't really enjoy the theater manager quest, but I felt it was even simpler than that one.
Go here. Dance for this long. The conversations were easy to work through, there was really no possible way to get it "wrong".
It wasn't a bad quest for a newbie, but I got bored fast.

Sure, it's a quest for a newbie... but it is a good foundation to build on. More advanced quests with this theme could be made more difficult. Maybe in a more advanced version, the NPC will refuse to talk to you if you say the wrong thing... maybe you have to take notes on the pop-up conversations you "overhear" and pass that info on to another Player to do a combao quest (with a smuggler or bounty hunter for example). There are many things that can make a quest based on this model more complex and interesting.

Yup..not bad for a new player, in its present form..but boring for a more established player. But look at the elements ofit from a design perspective rather than seeingthe current presentation. Each piece of it is a module in the template that can be expanded upon. Layer modulesupon each other.Apply a more interesting backstory. Apply a puzzle element. What if you had to figure out, from the dialogue you "overheard" what actions you had to perform or which NPC you had to visit next?

Yes..the only pre-requisite is that your character has to have novice entertainer.

Wow. This is some great news. I hope they keep moving the entertainer professions this way.
I look forward to doing this quest when I get my computer back ![]()

I think they were just sort of testing the waters with the Theater Quest, seeing if something linked to flourishes would be fun. I agree though, the newbie quest is really cool! Plus, there's just worlds of ways the spy/informant role could grow for us. If we ever really do go to quest based leveling, I hope our quests build off of this new theme.
Edit: Oh, and I know Esh loves this new quest so I think she's planning on getting some feedback from us about quests like these as soon as we get through all of these new changes.

I'm prepared to encourage that as the plan. While it would be premature for me to start pushing for that now (we have quite a few things that will need testing and rolled out to live between here & there), this is a good time for all dancers to become familiar with the template of the new entertainer quest, recognize how modular it is and start thinking of creative ways to build off this template.

As usual, I'm the opposite of everyone else.. But I had a blast doing the Theater manager quest. From time to time people would send me a tell asking if I could buff them and I would tell them to come by the theater because I was there. I loved when they asked why on Naboo I was there and I could proudly say that the manager has asked me to do a performance there and let them know that I'm hoping for a real job there instead of that stinking cantina.. of course, I never got that job
but still..
I agree though, having to have x number of people watch you was a bit boring. Although it was fun to get the text telling you who was really watching you
But I think that enjoy more the idea of trying to excell at what I do rather then the spying for information. Although, give me any kind of quest and I'll do it with a smile on my face
Personally I think that there should be quests for learning skill boxes. Maybe not all of them but sort of the way it is for space. Maybe do a little bit of that for the healing xp trees since they are so slow. Do a quest and get the box for free sort of thing.
