I am definitely in the minority. My plan was to be dancer/commando, just for the shock value (That little blue Twi'lek girl in the leotard wields a flamethrowerin her second job!).I started with the dance because it was alot of fun at first, and got to Choreographer/Captivator before starting on Commando. Now I am Novice Commando/Novice Pistoleer/Master Marksman as well with the dancing, and I have enough points to go for Master Commando. So I think I offer something to a hunting party almost nobody else does. Firepower with mind healing/buffing. And no, I havent yet been invited to a hunting group. Maybe someday!

I can't say its been easy. I have no medic or scout, so its tough soloing. dancing and combat are not co-beneficial. It's like I lead two lives. But I think that's the fun part of it, and that's what it's all about. Besides, I can't wait for fight club night at the club I dance in, when Iannounce that I'll take on all contenders.

I'm with Lunah. I'm also a Carbineer / Dancer / Image Designer. I went on a hunting Party on Lok, and I'd have to say, it's nice to be appreciated when people come to you for healing that normal medics can't quite handle. It's also fun to be able to defend yourself if the situation arises. I may not pack a BH punch, but it's quite a bite. Just my 2-cents.

That hunting gig sounds dangerous.

Although dancing in town can be dangerous too, gunfights in the cantina, how uncivilized.

Yeah well entertainers will be obsolete soon enough. Check out the test center stuff. Seems Combat Medics are going to be able to start healing mind damage. Sure they will be taking some themselves we may have to heal but it will be cutting our business and yes it is a business...to ribbons. A handful of CM's as compared to the players that come in for healing now? Pfftt.

Negative on that good buddy.

Entertainers can't heal Mind Damage as it is, we heal Mind Wounds.

Combat Medics (At level 4 in some chain or other, I forget) will be able to heal mind damage, at the expense of mind (and secondary) pool(s) wounds.

It can, potentially, lead to a greater need for entertainers in the field to heal the mind wounds of the CM in Down Time.

that's correct... at Master Ranged Healing Speed, CMs get "heal mind" which (for those who are also medics or know how they work) is like a mind version of "tend damage". each heal takes up a nice chunk of mind, and incur 30-45 wounds in each of mind/focus/willpower. CMs also can't heal themselves.

i'm not high level enough to try this out... but i had the CM correspondent confirm the info. after several application of heal mind, he had a nice collection of mind wounds... good xp for my dancer

I am currently the only Master Dancer in my PA therefore I go on every hunting expedition that my PA goes on. Even BEFORE the mind buff was ever even mentioned, I was begged to go on hunts with the guild. We have a small house out at krayts to heal bf, and it makes things move along alot better. Not only am I getting to see the things most dancers never do, I am having a blast getting to KNOW my guild members. I never wanted to be a cantina only dancer though, so therefore I am also a master medic/novice doctor...but I am always asked to come along for my entertaining...not medic skills.

The people who don't tip are most often found in those hunting groups and the people who do pay for our services can be found at our cantinas or in some of the public cantinas. So we go where the pay check is.

LOL, a joke right? People actually tip in cantinas? (sorry had to be said) I make more in a hunting group than in the cantinas nowdays, even my guild leader reminds everyone to tip the buffers...doctors and entertainers.Believe it or not, I have A LOT more fun in the hunting parties than I do dancing in the cantinas with the AFK dance bots, at least in a hunting party you KNOW that over half of your group isn't away from the keyboard.

Wow it was great to find out I am not the only dancer/carbinier in SWG. And I say to each his/her own, whatever play style you have again as long as you are having fun so be it!

Stopped by the Theed cantina tonight. Found 8 afk'ers and 4 warm bodies. One was very interested in taking a trip out to the adventure planets wtih the group but Sunday wasn't a good time I'll try again tomorrow.

For those of you who don't think you would be appriciated or needed out there, scroll down and look at the last third or so of this thread:

It's just a few posts but I think it shows what I'm trying to say. That you all are needed out there

My experience with this was a negative one. Three of us were dancing and playing music and a group came in saying they were going on a big hunt. We volunteered to go and were laughed at and told we would be a waste of stims.

Yeah.

See this is the type of experience most dancers and musicians have, and being mocked and humiliated once or twice is enough that you won't bother to ask after that.
