Thread: how can we get thier attention?

Basic problem I see is this: While its true that public cantinas have gone to the kuasks, at least I can find work there. Ironically, Coronet is where I make a KILLING in buffs, simply because I'm usually the only girl online and at the keyboard. While the working environment in the private cities is much less cluttered and annoying, performing in private cantinas in player cities just don't give me the kind of foot traffic neccissary to make my in-game job interesting or economically viable. Thius, the BEST situation for us is to either get the foot traffic happening in the player cities, or get a lot of the clutter out of the public cities.

Good luck with this all. It is rather difficult getting the bull's attention.

The devs want there to be an excuse to come back to town - they don't want people to be able to heal up in camps if one member of the party has novice entertainer. Well... then make the camp-healing skill tied to level of dancer, and level of camp. For example, only novice dancers, novice musicians, or master entertainers can heal battle fatigue in a camp - so that it won't be just one dude in the group grabbing novice entertainer to become totally self-sufficient. Also, make it such that it must be a large ranger-y camp. In that way you'll need a true entertainer AND a ranger - diversifying the group. Most groups won't be able to get both, and will have to resort to the cantina. But having something like that in place will allow dancers to get out every so often.

I think high level dancers and musicians should be able to have some combat-useful skills. Just off the top of my head, a distraction move that freezes opponents, or the ability to heal bf in the field, or knockdown your target with your fizz, or a droppable stage (like a camp). I'm sure the bright minds at SOE could re-arrange the skill tree to make a Feild Entertainment tree. Doctors and CM's have feild capable tools and abilities, why not entertainers?

At this point, I think the developers and higher-ups in the company have decided to just wait us out.

Every day, another dedicated dancer quits the game. Eventually, all that will be left will be the 2nd account heal/buff bots and the like; nobody "playing" those "charactes" will give a hoot about the profession, so all the complaints will go away and the developers will be able to get back to the "real" professions.

They could argue, "Few people are really interested in playing the profession so we don't need to do any work on it," but it would be more accurate to say that few people are interested in playing the profession any longer because the developers have done what amounts to zero real work on it since launch. The few things they have added have been of the "throw them a bone to shut them up for a few months" variety. Not one of our REAL issues (other than mind buffing) has ever been seriously or even semi-seriously addressed.

I love this thread! I love the dropable outdoor stage idea even! All of these are good! Any of them would rock!

Even J is on the bard bus now and we have an in concept thread, maybe the next one will let us talk about real class issues instead of just missions. Maybe they well let this class be as fun as it should for everyone if people keep talking about it.

First off... If you're a master dancer, are imp, and unguilded, then e-mail ziffus in game. We need some good dancers for hunts (group buffing, healing... generaly large parties that spend 45+ minutes looking for mind buffs).

Second... I agree that entertainers need some type of portable stage for performances. I think this would be great for creating more realism and eliminate forcing people with lower end systems to hit up a cantina w/ 30+ afk entertainer grinders.

Third... I understand how horrible dancing seems. Yet despite the faults, any profession can match. Commando (horrible in pvp, nerfed once again, acid rifle w/ 14+ sec delay on specials, 50% grenade hit/miss ratio), Droid engineers (They make 2 disposable droids... The rest are limited to storage, crafting stations, or med bots. Plenty of bugs, last on the list), Pikeman with horrible accuracy, etc. Yet despite the flaws, when weighed, master dancers are saught after much more frequently then any I have listed.

let me reiterate, once again that this is not a "my proffession sucks the worst" pissing contest. The point here is that this class has serious problems that are not being adressed in any way shape or form and the standard means of communication with the powers that be has been an utter failure. We need some other way to get thier attention and let them know that we consider ourselves a viable class and we will not sit idly by while patch after patch is implemented without so much as an aknowledgment of our issues from the devs. We are being ignored because we are allowing ourselves to be ignored. I am asking dancers to take a proactive attitude on this. Educate the general public of what we could be cabaple of if we were fixed and how we could improve thier effectivness on the battlefield or out on a hunt, perhaps it will provide motivation for them to join us in our plight to get some attention.

in the mean time please get over to that in concept thread and offer your ideas and opinions.

Thanks zoynk! Before things got really ugly I used todance a lotin what we called the little Trailer on Dath outpost. Now I'm terrified to go into a public cantina so I mostly just work for the guild lately.

But it is nice to hear that our services are appreciated and I'll try to make an effort to get out to Dath again sometime soon

I agree - I hope this works out for everyone. Quite a change coming to this board than any other, as there is noone claiming to be uber l337 or whining about how their prof needs to be fixed. All the posts here seem to be well thought out and verbalized, instead of the spastic-skip-every-third-letter-and-every-other-vowel typing that some have begun to do...

I would imagine, though, that many of your AFK grinding masses will migrate elsewhere once the new way to open the FS slot comes into existance.

Good luck, I'm rooting for you...

Been promised to see some results on our questions by mid week, I know most of you don't believe them anymore, for me this is the last try before I give it to someone else to see if they have better luck then I do. I dont' think they intentionally mean to ignore us, but like some of you said, when it comes to priorities and their making their list of things to do today, the professions with the numbers are going to get more attention, not to mention as far as their concerned we more or less already serve our purpose.

On the bright side, I've heard that the new dances are almost finished. Course we have no word yet exactly what we'll be getting when their done and what we'll get with the expansion. Should see something at least. Of course they will continue to work on our buffs and are supposedly tryin to get our missions sorted out. So really we're going to see our buffs made so we can buff ourselves and they'll be easier to apply. Great! We'll see more dancers or at least flourishes semi soon. Very cool. And we'll see some changes to missions... maybe? Maybe cool. All the information I can get so far tho.

Sorry I don't post as much as I use to, just been so little in the way of changes and still harping on the same ol with the devs. Just isn't much point and I don't have any time to spare just messin around on the boards anymore. Its all buisness now with the time I have to spend here and if theres no work to do except for the daily annoyance I make myself to the devs, then there isn't much else I'm going to post, hehe.

If there is something that comes up or a thread you think I may of missed that needs my attention please PM me so I can check it out and post a reponse. I try to keep up on most threads but I may miss something now and then so don't be afraid to pester me in PMs.

Raven,

You're doing a great job. It's just sad to see you so frustrated.
