The bitter part would be that honestly these aren't some big announcment. These are just the normal things that SHOULD have been happening all along. /cheer It's good.
The other "bitter" part would come from reading in a another thread our blue glowie and Cors thoughts and feelings on what ever it is going on behind the scenes.

I just came back from being on a two month hiatus from this game because I became so jaded and cynical that I could no longer enjoy it. There were times where I actually became upset over things happening. I took time off, I started playing other games, I still play one of them, but I missed this game, my friends still in this game, and most importantly the Entertainer Professions.

For me, having just gotten back, to see them put forward this kind of change after everything else that they did, I'm happy for even the little things. I'd love to see them saying that starting on X date that they will begin banning all Bots under these strict guidelines. I don't see it happening, but I'm happy for the attention. Personally, I believe that they are not going to arbitrarily forget about us.

If I turn out to be wrong, well, then I can take a step back towards the jaded cynical Dancer I was. I'm trying hard to just enjoy this game and be happy with what we can do. All the new games can be great fun, but they still don't offer anything close to the Entertainer professions. I want to enjoy these professions and embrace the changes as they come.

I hope all of SWG enjoys how pretty the bot Dancer dances the new steps, and how nice the bot Musician toots their bot horn.

Grossly disappointed with all of this.

I wanted new dances, I wanted new songs, and there's a LOT of good things in this update.

However, I see absolutely nothing in here that could truly be considered a "positive change."

I see changes and additions in this update that are LONG OVERDUE.

Our professions are hopeless destroyed by AFK, and we don't even get a bandaid, we don't even get an old piece of napkin for our wounds. We get a new hat to put on, while we bleed.

I hope all the bots enjoy their new found abilities in mastering Dancer, Musician, and Image Designer.

I'll sure as hell enjoy the new stuff, don't get me wrong. And, please don't assume I'm not grateful for all the hard work that went into getting this done for us. I AM. I am very grateful. But all that was announced means nothing, if our skills are still given away with the simple act of a copy/paste and hitting one stupid F key. Think about it - that's all we are, that's all we continue to be, regardless of how cool we look doing stuff. To the playerbase, we are a copy/paste and hitting an F key. And that makes me so sad to see this perpetuate AND to give these people more stuff to use when it should be OURS, that I have to ask that youexcuse me becauseI'm gonna go cry a little bit.

I love the changes and the addition of new dances! How exciting is that! Why do some of you still have to be so negative! These things the falling, new dances, broken base dances.. how long have you wanted these fixed! To come here and read something like this is really, really annoying!

I don't mean to sound harsh... but geesh stop complaining and enjoy what you're getting!

The problem boils down to whether you have hope or fear about the future of the profession. If you are still hopeful then this announcement is nothing but good news. If you are not, then these changes are simply the pillow they give you to kneel on before they chop your head off.

For me, I'm happy to see these changes. I love those movement dances and I want others to be able to see them. The problem is that I am fast losing hope. My server has maybe 10 - 15 ATK entertainers. (and that's allowing for those who I don't see because they are on a different schedule). I regularly see3 of those and occasionally see3 others. However, if I go to the MO I can see at least 7 bots. And that's just one, tinyoutpost, yes it's the most botpopulated but there are bots else where. Not a single entertainer that I used to hang out with when I was working my way toward Master Dancer is still an entertainer. Not one. In that atmosphere I need to hear that the ability to dance or play music while AFK is going away. I know they posted that recrusive macros were going away but has any RED name posted anything more since that thread was started? For all I know they gave up on the idea because they bought into the whole "we have to have our NPC mind healers andbuffers" whining. Until I can have hope that the AFKtainers are going, then no matter how many fixes they make I still end upbracing for the axe.

cheers,

Ikewe

I think it was the longer than expected wait, that allowed dreams of the end of AFK'ing to fester into my brain until that's all I could think of when considering massive Correspondent cooperation with Devs, and a response of positive changes coming our way when a Musician complains that a Jukebox stole part of their livelihood.

You're right, of course. I will enjoy this.

But today, I cry for the professions I love so much, who continue to die before my very eyes, with almost every visit to an NPC cantina.

I don't care what people think in that feedback thread, we're dying and the Devs aren't really helping. They're just making us look better while we perish. I hope that perspective wears off sometime soon, so that I can take the positive stance you are taking. Right now, I'm just missing some long gone friends, and seeing the reason they left get the same "positives" we get for sticking it out so long. And it's NOT FAIR.

Exactly. Some of us have very good reasons to have more fear than hope. Unfortunately there's also an NDA in effect that prevents enumerating those reasons. So ease up on those of us who aren't exactly dancing on air over this announcement.

Good things? For now, yes. But not enough for the long term. Not nearly enough.

There are many other professions which could be considered 'broken' as well. Are they getting anything? It's just a game, why all the drama. I dance in SWG because I LOVE dancing! I sacrificed skill points that could be better used but I love dancing. Bottom line if you love dancing then the not falling and the new dances are FUN. I just don't see anything negative about the addition of these things tothe profession. It may not address the bigger concern but it's still pretty darn fun. I can finally dance without a sword in my hand and make routines that LOOK really nicely put together. To ME there is joy in that.

No other profession or set of professions is so broke that 90% of the playing customers online at any one given time is AFK, because that's the best and nearing only way to do it. Entertainer is in a realm beyond broken.

If everyone hadn't made this into such a big annoucement I would have been happier I think.. but spending a week waiting for fixes .. I mean.. the one thing that I really likeare the broken dances getting fixed.. (which makes me really happy, I'm not denying that).

Congrats to IDs though, they seem to be the big winners

But I'm still hopefull, I usually hate most patches when they come and then grow to love them

Are these things good? Yes, absolutely. In fact, with this annoucement I'm considering dropping all my remaining TK skills and becoming a Quad Damage Entertainer. My alt character may or may not pick up combat skills as the combat in this game is..well poo as far as I'm concerned.

Yes these are great fixes and stuff that we have been needing for a long time. So long in fact that it seems anti-climactic at this point. We were toldalmost two years ago that new songs and such would be added. I doubt anyone took that to mean that theywould be an annual event only. What they fail to do is address the core issues and problems for our professions. The leading one of which is the AFK plague and the second is more engageing stuff to do while we perform. (mini-games for the win)

Oh, and a HUGE thank you and /hug to the corr folk and glowie folk that you *know* had to push for this to get it done. You guys rock.

So, I'm happy to see this stuff, yes, but it wont help us for the long haul...we need a ground up revamp for that.
