Thread: Dancer Buffs

I think I read that dancers buff is on the mind, and that musicians get the same kind of a buff on the other two mind stats. So you don't need spices at all.
THis is better than I thought... Hurry bring the servers up --- I got some dancing to do on my alt character =P
I don't think you understand how Dancer buffs work. They last twice as long as you watch the dancer, so if they keep that formula, you'll be looking at a 1hr watch time to get your 2hr duration. The problem is that they currently have food like durations and don't have Doc Buff type durations. So, ours are nearly instant (takes 90 seconds to fully apply all six buffs as an MD) and apply to six stats while theirs are based on time and only buff three stats.
Sounds fair to me.

They "fixed" it in the patch today Zerona, should only take 5-10 (I've heard both) for a master to double your stats for a duration of 2 hours.

"Dancer - Increased the effect of dance mind buffs. A master can now increase a stat up to double of its base value. Maximum durations have been increased to 2 hours."
Arrgh, hit enter too quick.
Meant to add in that the test, it seems like there is some acceleration, so it may be faster than it is now.
Also, meant to say buff two stats.
Acording to the Dancer Correspondent:
"The active buff can target anyone. In group or out of group. Just target the person you want to buff and do a /setperform and after about 5-8 minutes if your flourishing a lot they'll have the max buff. (this only works on one person at a time)
The Passive buff only works if someone is in your group. Then they can just listen to you without you targeting them. This buff takes slightly longer to apply at its max level.. 8-10 minutes I think (not entirely sure yet) The passive group buff was added so that the dancers could buff an entire group at one time. This helps either speed up buffing a group of people paying you or, if the dancer is out in the field he/she can buff their group up faster during downtime. Just having a targeted buff would make both of those cases really tough. It would mean we wouldn't be able to buff a group effectively."

hmmm ... does not seem quite fair that they can auto-macro all the way there and be able to buff without any resources at all.

I dunno guys - how many customers can you buff in 5-10 mins of your game time for $5k each? Granted you had to go get your stuff and make it and all that, but if you're in the field you probably did that while camping, waiting for a shuttle at the starport, waiting around for groups to get missions, etc etc.
Dancers have to be either in a camp or a cantina to do their stuff. And have their character spend action points for 10 minutes, depending on other people to heal them (since you can't do anything else while dancing, even heal your action pool). And depending on other people to *maybe* tip them.
I'd say it's a good skill for them to have and a good tradeoff for them not to require resources to do so. And it's only Mind stuff they can do. Now, maybe other forms of PVP attacks will be more useful and more common.
I guess the issue breaks down to time and money.
Yes it takes them longer to perform the buff(s) they do....but not once you factor the running (shuttle wait times anyone?) & craftingI have to do. Even if I buy everything at one location (never happen) I still have to craft my buffs.
Credits make the world go 'round. I have a lot of overhead on my buffs any way you slice it (ie harvest, craft, craft again, and use or just buy and use). Entertainers clear 100% profit on any buffs they sell.

I'm not all that concerned.
Dancers are pretty much limited to that.
Sure they don't need resources, but that is pretty much all they can do with their entire dancer skills which took as much skill point as our doctor skills.
If someone spent THAT much skill points for that little reward, I'd say let em have it without resource cost. Even if she did it all the way by AFK dancing.
Now if they are given ability to actively heal mind damge in combat or something, then sure there is an issue here, but as it stand now.... *shrug*
I don't care how they do it - make it as easy and as cheap for them as possible in my opinion. All I care about is that I can have double my mind. If it's so easy to be a dancer and so hard to be a doc then you have the option of switching. This is the best thing to happen for docs since factories working.
Does anyone know if the dancer buffs stack with food/spice?

all i have to say is the "time sink" come from it taking 3 weeks of non-stop dancing to become a master dancer, and you can master doctor in a day. i am both master doctor and dancer, and i don't see anything wrong with this at all. finally dancer's have some use.
thank you, wonderful decision on the mind buffs

No, actually, it costs more skills points to Master Doctor then it does to Master Dancer or Master Musician. They don't have to Master Entertainer the way we have to Master Medic.
And yes, it may seem unfair to allow Entertainers to buff mind without a money-sink(resources/harvesters/travel) but they do have a minimal time sink in that their buff isn't instantaneous the ways ours are.
And, in all honesty, they deserve this ability. For an entertainer, their usefulness in a group situation is dependent upon their other skills. NOT their Entertainment abilities. Doctors, on the other hand, can buff, revive, heal wounds, heal damage, heal states, cure poisons, cure diseases... Our grouping abilities are known and sought.
It's about time the Entertainers received something that others perceive as useful besides mind wound healing and BF healing.
Entertainers needed some love, and what they got not only helps them but helps US tremendously as well.
