I would first like to say, that I ATK grinded all of dancer. Mastered, but have recently dropped all but 0044 (for CL). Second I am working on FS, and am going to be doing my paddy trials in about 1 week (does Popular2, Flourish 1).

I am guilty of one thing....AFK dancing. Strickly for the FS xp. However...before the persecution begins, may I say, that I do it in the privacy of my own home. I don't even do it in my cities cantina for my guildies to use my services. I do not want to be the afk dancer in theed, or ME or Dant. I refuse to dance there, even if it would mean more xp. So, I dance at home, when I am not atk . If I am ever caught dead in a public cantina with my afk flag up, or not atk...It's usually because i'm using the little Twi's room.

Your compromise is a reasonable one Doriana.

I still think, though, that any game that allows any aspect of it to be AFKed efficiently and effectively is in trouble. The evidence is all around us. Look at the AFK looting going on in some NPC spawn points... That leads to way more of the loot available than should be, which totally hoses the various markets. A rare item that might be better than crafted ones but is supposed to be RARE, suddenly shows up in everyone's inventory because it's as available as blob candy, and now the crafting economy for that type of item is shattered.

And beyond this, the devs have to keep inflating XP requirements because if you can AFK 24/7, then something that takes an AFKer a month to level, will take an at keyboard person who plays even 24 hours a week, 30 *weeks* to do (which is why the Jedi grind requires such an obscene amount of XP to be gained).

The problem is that it's NOT just about direct griefing of AFKers in public taking one or another person's business away. It's that in an online game everything is interconnected and letting people gain rewards without doing any work for them cheapens the effort-reward system and blows the whole balance to Kingdom Come.

The devs of this game, unique as far as I know to every online RPG ever released, do not understand this fundamental concept of effort-reward ratios.

Oh yeah, I know. I would very much prefer the ability to gain anything AFK (skills, items, etc.) be removed all together, and I truly believe that until it is, SWG will never be more than a "mediocre" MMO when it could be the best on the market otherwise.

But I'll settle for baby steps, and if they give us even the small step of just getting rid of the buffbots, I will calm down some.

Heck, I might even start playing again..

Yup.

Doriana, you are awesome. You keep saying in one sentence what it usually takes me a paragraph to express.
