I don't charge, and I don't give them out unless you're a friend or you ask nicely.

It varies.

My guild gets mind buffs whenever they want for free. Sometimes I'll give neutral or imp players buffs for free (depends on my mood). Most ppl ask what the normal tip is for a buff and I reply with,"1 - 75k" Yes, I actually was tipped 75k (or maybe it was 50k). So they do normally tip +1500.

There are times when I'm busy. Perhaps standing at a starport waiting for a ship. I usually keep my Master Dancer profession visible and sometimes get a request for a buff. If they are willing to pay 5k then I'll leave the Starport and do the buff.

As for rebels... well... I don't aid the rebellion.

I don't ask a certain amount. If people ask how much I charge, I tell them, "I can dance to double what you have now, and it will last for two hours, if you watch for 10 minutes or so. Pay me what you think it is worth!" Most times, I get something that is fair, and a decent amount of the time, I get something that is more than I expected. I have only had someone not pay me for buffing once, and, yes, I wrote down that name. ^_^

I am not sure how well charging a fixed price works, though, I haven't tried. Good luck!

Well now.............................

Few things are ever simple with me, so here's how it goes for me.

I have some PA members and other friends who keep me in bikes, mounts, weapons, whatever. They have a standing order for mind buffs anytime they like, and if they want I'll do the novice musician level too so they get some boost to all of their mind related stuff. Most of them dont' want to take the time to do it, but they know that I can.

For the folks in the cantina, it goes like this: For those who insist I charge, I will be pinned down to 2k credits, as I have seen a lot of other people charging the same. But I will only be pinned down to that after I have explained the effect (increaseand duration)of the buff and told them that I prefer to let people put their own value on it. (I, too, find that I make more that way, in general.) If I were master, the 2k would probably be a little higher.

I think it's kind of silly to buff for free. I'm a professional dancer; I worked hard to become a Master and I deserve to be rewarded for that as much as a professional bounty hunter. When you consider how much a hunter can make in the two hours that my buff lasts, 1000 credits isn't much.

I don't demand cash up front or anything, and usually just say tip me whatever your conscience dictactes. Of course, if someone's conscience tells them to tip me 50 credits for 10 minutes of my life, I won't bother to buff them again.

Of course, there is a difference between not charging and not being paid.

I do not charge for my Mind buffs. I'd say I had only 10% of walkouts. If I was more organized, then I would write those names down. I'm pretty laid back, so maybe I have been taken advantage of.

But I don't mind. I get paid well for my buffs. People ask how much, and I respond with, "Whatever you feel a 75% of your Mind score is worth." I got 500 once, which seems low, but since a Doctor charges 1k and it takes materials, I didn't mind. Usually, I get multiples of a thousand. If I ask for 5k, I'll probably chase them away. And if I have a big line, then I may start charging more if people want to be bumped up. But since I don't usually have a long line, I take whatever they're willing to pay me.

Now, group buffing is very profitable. I was on Yavin when a couple people came in. I asked if they wanted buffing, and they said sure. Turns out they were part of a Guild. And the entire Guild was arriving for a big hunt. I had requests to buff each one in turn. When I realized that there were about 15 or so, I told them it'd be faster if I just join their group and buff them all in one big swoop. And about half of them tipped me a few thousand credits. Since the tips were trickling in, I never was able to figure out how much I made, but I'm guessing about 20k from that one group. If I had charged only 1k per person, I'd make out with less. But on Yavin, I probably would have been justified in charging 2k to 3k.

There are little tricks to get money to part company with people. As only a Skilled Dancer, my buff is 75%. When someone is asking for a buff, I tell him that I can do it, but it's only 75%. He can do better if he talks to that Master Dancer over there. For one, I feel the need to defer to the masters, because, after all, they invest more in dancing than me. For another, most Master Dancers are also AFK *sigh* so when someone realizes the Master Dancer can't buff him, he is much more grateful that I'm around. The money comes more freely that way. If the Master Dancer is not AFK, then he deserves the extra business. *smile*

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Obioviously the one here that said they don't charge are dancer + something else but when you are master ent + musician + dancer you got to make a living from your profession right ?

Yes and no.

I do receive good tips for giving buffs, even when I tell people that they are free to tip me whatever they feel is appropriate if they want to. It does help too that I can give people both the Musician and Dancer buffs heehee

I've been a master in all three professions since before we had buffs to give, so I never had to rely on them for income. As a Musician, I make a good living crafting instruments, and selling them on the bazaar in the biggest markets (Coronet, Theed), and have been doing so for the last 4 or 5 months. Also, as a dedicated entertainer, I've had the pleasure of playing at a few private parties, guild, player cantina, and business openings, and once at a player event (GrooveFest on Intrepid), and was fortunate to receive some very good tips then from some generous people(even though I never expected them).

I should note that I also have a few personal harvestors, and do also make a living selling resources gathered from them (although Imainly use the resources for crafting instruments). I'm also a Novice Medic, and have received some good tips healing people as well.
