What part of this did you have work Tess?

I still can't get past the "Someone is on stage."

*sniff* Surely that is supposed to time out before 24 hrs. o.O

I thought the rest wasn't in yet, but if you actually got the audition once... *puts on confused Dancer Corre sign*

i could be wrong, but i'd like something cleared up for me. were we told we would be getting new content, ie, new dances, or at least flourishes?

if that's the case, then are those going to be in the entertainer quest minipublish, or with the hutt casino? o.O

Well, that's a pain for testing, but that's really pretty cool!

I don't think any other static content has a timer... if we're the first, that's pretty nifty.

Yeppers. Only one person can be on stage auditioning at a time. So I'm guessing the 24 hour timer is to make sure one person doesn't tie up the stage.

Just noticed these patch notes for TC:

  • Entertainer Quests: Changing Theater Manager dialogue to correctly reflect the amount of time before and audition starts
  • Entertainer Quests: Fixed a problem that kept the Entertainer Quest theater manager from resetting the stage status

  • Heading in to TC now to test with my 0 2 4 4 Entertainer Deila... I'll report on what I find.

    Update on TC Entertainer Quests

Alright... update here. I'll keep it somewhatvague, because I don't want this to become a spoiler. I'm not sure about how many specifics we're supposed to come blabbing about to the forums, but I didn't want to ruin the experience for anyone who wants to wait until these go live to hear about what the quests are, and how to do them successfully.

It looks like the entertainer quests are being patched into TC in pieces. I first ran into TC to try testing these when I first heard about the Theatre Managers being in there, and got the same thing as others did - no judges spawning, no system messages that the audition was actually beginning, and the famous "someone else is onstage, come back and talk to me later" spiel that has been mentioned in other posts on the forums.

The first two steps of the Theatre Manager quests arenowin, andI was able to complete these. They're not really working smoothly yet though; I've had a few good bugs to file on them so far, and that's while successfully completing them. I'm not sure if we'll be able to redo them so I can put in some testing time intentionally trying odd situations or intentionally failing auditions in different waysto see if they break or not.

The third step to the questsappear tonot yet becoded in. Again, the Theatre Manager talks to you to set you about the next (third)step, and no system message, and no way to do anything. The system messages letting you know that the quest stages are triggering seem to be the way to tell if the content has been added yet or not.

    General Notes

My Deila on TC is currentlyan 0 2 4 4 Entertainer, so yes... at least the first two can be completed without having Novice Dancer or Musician. I also had an 0 0 1 0 entertainer try them as well... with no adverse affects. Additionally, I met a musician who was testing them at the same time I was, and he reported that the music version of the quests (I auditioned and got my show as a dancer, of course) were working, and buggy, in the same ways as dancer, soany reports that quests are working for musicians and not dancers are as of this morning incorrect, at least where I was testing at Theed.

Not a spoiler, but a teaser. Deila on TC has achieved Popularity Rank One now. Does this mean anything outside of the quest progression system? Remains to be seen, as there is, as of yet at least,no 'character sheet' indication of a Popularity Rank. I had wondered if this was just for purposes of the new quests, or if it might be some indication of a Fame system that could possibly be tying into the Entertainer Mission terminals. I'll look into this when I hit TC next time, and start tracking entertainer mission levels and payouts as I progress through the quests. Not holding my breath on this one - we've heard nothing at all about mission improvements - but I'll look into it just in case the devs are being sneaky and helping out our missions, and just leaving it for a happy surprise. Don't run out and quote me as saying there is any change at all to entertainer missions... this is purely speculation on my part.

There appear to be Theatre Managers at all of the static city theatres (the nice big Guildhall theatres found throughout the galaxy), and they also are all apparantly linked, regarding the entertainer quests. If you blow your audition in Theed and get notice thatyou'll have to wait 24 hours to try again, running off to the Deeja Peak theatre yields the same 24 hour waitresponse from that manager. If you get up to the beginning of the third quest as I did, going out to the manager at Deeja Peak picks up your entertainer quest at the same place you left them off at Theed.

It looks thusfar then that when you choose to audition as a dancer, for example, you may not be able to come back and do them again as a musician. Completing steps in the quests progresses your character through much in the same way that the themepark quests do... we don't seem to be able to come back and do them again. At least, it looks that way thusfar. If it remains a one-time thing, that's a bitdisappointing for those of us who enjoy music and dance as part of our entertainer skill sets.

Are they fun, or do they "suck"? Again, I won't give spoilers here. So far, they're nothing to write home about, but they are only the first two (out of an unknown number of steps in the quests), and I would think they're supposed to be simple. We won't be able to tell if the whole entertainer quest experience will be good content until we can take the full ride, and look at it in its full context. Until then, I'm focusing a lot more on trying to see if the systems work in my testing, and not so much on the fun factor just yet - though I'm keeping that in mind as well.

This was in Theed on TC2. I am Master Musician / Master Dancer / Master Entertainer. This is the farthest I got so far. "The audition has begun! Listen to and follow the instructions given to you by the judges."
Then the three judges and their table appeared on the stage. I then walked onto the stage, stood in front of the three judges and waited for further instructions, but it never came... someone else reported getting a system message to 'do flourish 1, do flourish 2' but I did not get this at all and no reaction from the judges whatsoever... also the Theater Manager (+ the one in Deeja Peak) won't talk to me at all now
    thanks

it sounds like it could have potential...

    Yay! Thank you!

Ok, so far this sounds like what I was expecting. I swing back and forth on this Fame from NPC thing... I want it because I know others do, but I'm scared it misses the Social point entirely. I just don't want us to be told "well you have quests now" when we try to talk about our issues... *shrug*

Oh well, this could still be fun for a lot of people... and maybe the higher levels of the quests will offer something really Social... or at least some neat lootage.

I had this problem yesterday. I bet you cannot hear any NPC's talking to you (outside of the blue response boxes they give you to use) Isolved it by going to "Options" on the launch pad and choosing "reset in-game options" at the bottom of that window. Unfortunately this alsoerases your live game settings forchat bubbles and such. (but it leaves some things alone. II noticed that font colors and other things like that work fine. It doesn't erase macros or anything.)

Here are the things I found out today...as I posted in a reply on the Music forums:

    Red-Dwarf wrote:

Note on the audition: you need to use /changemusic (or dance) or you will fail the audition, and the flourished and music is random (I did it as Novice musician and did folk and rock).

It is also currently bugged on mission2 - the people listening to you get the system message you should get so you don't know how many more have to listen to you.

Mission 3 is still bugged, you don't get a system message telling you to get on stage.

We'll keep /bugging it but the quests are getting better - they at least get this far now!

    Senom Shiro

Yup, I tested this out with both a musician and a dancer today. I would also suggest having your customers /bug the message they get so there are more reports to get noticed.

While mission 3 does not spawn an audience, and you don't get anymessage to start your performance, you also do not fail your mission if you leave the stage. In fact, you can return to the manager and she will give you the mission again.

Oh, so you do have that watch/listen requirement? That's funny, lol, I was told that wouldn't be happening.

Yep you have to entertain 10 people.

I also forgot to mention that you get 500 credits for the first mission, and there is no reward from the manager for doing the second one.

Hmm, maybe it just hasn't been put in yet... I wonder if they are trying to sneak in a kind of patron rating system too. That was the other thing I heard was going to be too hard to get in... but if they did the watching like the noobie tutorial... hmm.

Well, I hope it's fun. I wish I could be testing too... keep us updated and keep bugging!

Okay, so I go to all these lengths to avoid spoilers for those who wanted it to be fresh, new content that we've all been asking for, and everyone else spills the beans... okay, fine...

There is a reward for the second quest. It is being awarded Popularity Rank One. For whatever that does.

And yes, my allusions to it being a bit possibly sucky so far is that it entirely reminded me of the starterdroid quest thing. Dance, do a couple of flourishes, then change, do a couple flourishes. Then go get some people to watch you. I fear for the spam of "please watch me, I'm on my entertainer quest!" to come, like we hear so often in Mos Eisley now on live.

Still, as I stated elsewhere, if they progress well beyond this level and branch out of just running around, it could get great. The musician that helped me test a few of the later issues and I came up with some really cool ideas for where we'd like to see those quest go. "Now, form a band or dance troupe consisting of at least 4 members, and come back and put on a coordinated show." If they found a good way to "judge" the coordinated show with the system AI, this sort of thing could be heading in the right direction...

My judges were there, and they had chat bubbles just fine. Yes, the dances or songs you perform are randomly chosen from ones you know, so any level of entertainer or elite class can do these first two, at least. The flourishes they ask you to do are also random. The judges are not de-spawning, apparantly after a failed audition, and are currently stacking up in the three seats. When I did my round 1 audition, there were three judges in each seat. After returning following running out to New Unity to find 10 people to watch me, there were 4 judges per seat, and a musician there returning after getting his 10 to listen to him.

I then called a 0 0 1 0 dancer to come to Theed to further some tests, and also put word out on /tcpa to bring more trials, with the idea that it would be funny to stack about 30 judges per chair. She thought she had failed the audition earlier in Kaadara (her judges went to sleep on her, poor thing), but she did not get a failure message. She left the stage in Kaadara. She also had not /changedanced to do her switch - she stopped dancing in between, but couldn't remember exactly when the judges snoozed. Now, she did not have to wait 24 hours to re-audition (probably due to not getting a failed audition system message). When she started her audition, 5 judges were in each seat (by now I had filed a bug on the judges). Upon successfully completing her audition (I told her about /changedance, but oddly enough the judges asked her to switch from Rhythmic to Rhythmic, so she didn't have to), those fifth judges indeed despawned.

Minutes later, a master dancer/musician answered the call to come test, and began her audition. When she slipped on her toolbar and hita differentflo # than what the judges asked for, she immediately got the Failed the Audition system message, and was told by the Manager that she'd have to wait 24 hours before auditioning again.
