I have not verified this but I have been told that when you put some one on your ignore list they get a system message. Obviously that's not the same as "announcing" they are being ignored but it's something to keep in mind. I can understand the frustration and the desire to add those who feel some sense of acomplishment when they belittle us as a profession. I personally choose to just ignore them in my spatial conversations. I don't respond at all and if someone else does come to my defense or the defense of entertainers in general then I'll give them a /thank /deepbow or something similar. Butthe strategy that I am comfortable with is just to continue being a live entertainer. I continue to greet everyone whether they are running to a buff bot or not. If the atmosphere becomes to hostile or I find myself not having fun, then I move on to some where where I will have fun. Does that mean the robots won? Perhaps, but I do this to have fun. If I'm not having fun then I most certainly have lost.

I do not believe you get a message when being put on ignore. Unless its changed.

Oh I never wanted to cast you that way at all dear. There may be very legitimate reasons to do it. The problem though is--rightly or wrongly--that oftentimes the perception of the things we do or not do in the cantina make the difference in how we are treated as individuals and as a profession. We may have very real and reasonable reasons for doing the things we do. I'd have to say manyin the audiencedeserve to be ignored or denied. But just because they deserve to be ignored and denied doesn't mean it is in our interest to do so.

Well, to be a little more clear on what I'm getting at. I don't *want* everyone to like me. Only the good people. If someone is spamming, or rude, it's not up to me to convert them and "win them over". I have no interest to do so. And to think my /addignore action has the impact you imply on the whole of the entertainment community is rather farfetched. I am tuning them out of my world and not yours.

I have no grounds to complain about harassment if I have not excercised my right to ignore. I'm simply cleaning house and want the garbage put out of my sight so all I have left is the good people who live in our world. I interact with these good people and I like them and they like me. They tip me and I don't ask, I buff them for free, because I feel I'm one of those good people. I do other things too, but when I dance, I dance. I'm not a self-appointed spokesperson of my profession. I'm enjoying my game more than ever now that it is a noticably happier place. I came here to announce that it works, it really does. My game experience improved by leaps and bounds by the simple and often forgotten /addignore.

Everytime you deny someone or /addignore them they walk out of that cantina with the attitude that ALL ATK entertainers are stuck up snobbish oafs that would just as soon ignore and deny you as buff or heal you. Which in turn leads them to jump into threads where we plead our case against the jerks running the buff bots to say, "ATK entertainers treat us like crap so why should we bother? The buff bot does not ignore and deny us when we just want a quick buff or heal!"

It used to be, you did not get a notice if you were /ignored but you did get a notice if you were /denied. Unless that's changed recently.

I doubt your first statement is accurate given you're using an absolute. But, if someone even *knew* they were on my ignore list, if they held my actions against the whole of the entertainment community, who's really the idiot? And if they DID jump into threads and proclaim their insanity, I'm sure we'd notice what kind of person they are by how they actually present themselves. If they had a good case, their opinion can be considered. If they say they hate the entertainment community because *I* put them on my ignore list, then they'll be exposed for the fool they are. Problem solved because they would meet the fate of others' ignore list too.

Just FYI I did test the /addignore function last night and you do not get a system message. Not sure what message my source thought they saw but it clearly wasn't for the /addignore feature.

I don't mind putting the bots on ignoreand have even gone so far as to ridicule them a tad with /ras and other harmless things.

but the spammers I try to educate first. I even taught one guy that spamming is te wrong way to go about joining a group. The leader had him on ignore for spamming and once he stopped, bam! he was in a group and having fun.

I know this method doesn't always work because some people are jerks and never learn. But try teaching first and then use the ignore stick.

Either, I'm just lucky or Corbantis is an awesome server. You cannot believe the response I get when doing buffs right next to 3 or 4 buff bots. It's just crazy. At least 3 of 4 people that come into the Mining Outpost cantina on Dantooine looking for buffs come to me, on most days at least. This is while there are 3 bots(on average there is 3) sitting right next to me. Once of which is pretty rude for a bot. All you have to do is let people know that you can do a buff much quicker than a bot. Once you show them that you can, they will come back and they will look for live entertainers more often. Like I said, it could just be luck, but it's been working very well so far.

From your last sentence it sounds like the robots on your server are not very bright and that's why you are able to outcompete them. On my server they can perform the buff in the same amount of time as I do so I have no edge there. The edge that I have to offeris I can travel and I can use /setp if someone is in a group. But up until now that has not been enough to outcompete the established bots. With the change in group payout things may be in a whole new playing field. Plan to test that out this weekend.

But glad to hear your server is different. WIth a bit of luck we'll all be seeing that same trend.
