I like the idea of being able to have a doctortype droid that allows us to buff and/or heal BF outside the cantina (I love the cantinas but I miss the days when entertainers where standard hunting equipment in camps).
Dancing protocol droids, uh? I can just see it now - C3PO doing Poplock2. ![]()

I would die a happy entertainer if I could just use my playback droid on a yacht!
However, I do like the ideas of holodisks, portable buffs, a module that provides the ability to heal BF in camps, Til's thoughts on social quest-type stuff (think abstract here) and a Pocket-Lilo (tm) of my very own.
Mmmmmmm - Pocket-Roho (tm). I like it . . . No, wait a minute! Forget that idea - it's terrible, it wouldn't work and I won't stand for it! Ub-ick! What are you doing to that Pocket-Roho?! Put itdown right now!!

Oh, and Ikewe, you don't need to be a CH to name your droids. Just teach it 4 commands with it's name in them.
I must just be bugged then. I tried the "use the name 4 times in training" just as you described and it refused to change the name. Very frustrating but not surprising since every time I log in I find some new bug that makes me feel oh so very special...

Well I think the #1 thing our profession is missing is a way to effectively charge for our service.
My idea then is;
The box office droid. This droid module would grant the ability to a droid to work as a box office for an entertainer who was performing outside of a cantina or theater.
Of course this idea would require that the devs first install box offices to each and every theater and cantina.
Oh and of course you are probably asking, "Just what is a box office?" Think of the box office as a mission term for entertainers combined with entry fee like system. Entetrainers would select missions from the box office to perform inside of a cantina. This would give a scaled payment to an entertainer for working in a cantina, theater or even a scout camp. It would also add the effective credit sink for all combat players as they would still require healing and enhancing.
No one would be able to recieve healing or enhancing without first making a payment to a box office. This would take the place of /watch or /listen in the healing process. Making a payment ot the box office would authenticate your healing ability.
All box offices would have their rate set by hard coding. Tipping of course would still be possible for thise who felt that their entertainer needed more encouragement or for thise entertainers who required more than the mission terms could pay for certain services.

The problem with this system is that often I do not charge friends or guildmates for healing - we use more of a barter system. One of them may have given me a crate of food or drink earlier so I'm certainly not going to want them to now also have to pay to get healed. Also, what about the very new player who may only have 100 credits because they just took a shuttle and then got killed at the mission terminal or running to their mission target? - this happened to me on my first day in the game. If the fee is set so low that everyone can afford it then we are still in a position where entertainers are not making a reasonable wage and if it is set too high then we will have players who must successfully complete several missions before they can get healing. (current space missions have very low payouts)

It wouldn't be in our hands anymore. Instead of barter you have a higher credit balance and could afford to purchase from your guildmates.
As to how much it would cost the combat people... It really wouldn't matter to us. Our missions would be scaled by our character skill. The combat people would not be paying us at all. They would pay the box office. The box office would only give us missions like the current terms do (only with a better pay system more in line with the combat mission system). A box office would just act as the mechanic for allowing the healing and our payment.

Hmm DE... Honestly I would love it if I could in some way program a droids response. I love the protocol droids but with the limited mod space.
Like maybe being able to put Lines into a data disk(new loot anyone) (like you would put a statement or question or action and then the droids response) and then put the disk into the droid.
So then I could /say droid Wow is sure is chilly today.
And he would like /shiver(with out the action tied to the emote) Your right we should head on over to the cantina.
More special affects would be great like maybe a mirror image hologram(would just project a holo image of yourself dancing but it would be like a mirror. So you twirl left and it would twirl right). I would love to have to really pick and choose what to put into my droids.
Being able to put more then one storage mod into a droid.
Hmm a vendor mod. So that I could put items into the droids storage and then have it stand there or patrol around and be able to sell some stuff on the adventure planets with out using the bazaar(due to it's price limit)
A cloaking device to hide the droid while performing.

A droid you can wear like a pack that can be invisable or visable and be in a fun shape like a heart or bantha or something 'cute' to wear.

I have to add my request for a storage droid. Something that would hold more ofmy clothing, props, etc. than the 10 items currently available in my two little boxes on wheels.

Sirii, you rock. A valet droid would be great.
What I would love is an advertising droid that doesn't spam, and doesn't require a jillion skill points in Merchant to use. I'd love to be able to drop one down at the spaceport to tell poeple there's a live entertainer over in the cantina. It would still have a waypoint option like the current barker droids, but instead of spamming spatial it would have a user-written message in the description field. People would /examine it once instead of having their spatial window assaulted every 30 seconds.

Umiio "Umi" Panwanga • Rodian party girl • Bria
Iba'onchab • Gets boarded sometimes • Chimaera
This random sig quote is brought to you by King Arthur In Fifteen Minutes:
CYNRIC: Hey, ease up there, Swiss Miss.
CERDIC: ARE YOU QUESTIONING ME?
CYNRIC: I'm just saying, man . . . that's kinda harsh.
CERDIC: B*tch, please. You don't know harsh. I had to film that Exorcist prequel twice.

A droid with effects that work in places other than at ground level would be nice.
I will also repeat that storage would be really great... entertainer costumes take
up SOOOO much space!
It's great to have these neat effects, but yeah.. having that droid out in the middle
of the dance floor just makes for hideous clutter sometimes. I like the "cloaking
device" idea...
If we get it to store costumes, a module that helps us make costume changes would
be nice. I know a lot of people use a macro to change clothes during a performance,
but this takes up a lot of hotbar space, which at least personally, I never seem to
have. so if there were a module that allowed you to say ok, start me in costume set
1 for x amount of time, then switch to costume set 3 for y amount of time, etc. I would
find something like that very handy.
