Thread: Droid Engineers would like our ideas!

I've always loved this idea--a miniature Lilo on demand for anyone to watch at any time, anywhere.

Well, unless there can be created a holomodule, that you can record your performance on, and when played shows a small holo of you dancing, kinda like Leia.
And let the programmed modules be useable by everyone.....
I know I would have several such droids then..with programmed holo modules from all my favorite performers...To play when I'm at home on Lok, or when I'm in a camp, just watching the sand on Tatooine drift past. Then I would love to have one, to keep me companied.
- droids could enhance our abilities to performas well as increase where we can perform (like mobile med stations)
- droids could replace the need for us to perform in some cases or act as a conduit for us to transfer the results of our performances to others via holo recorcdings (like stim a droids)
- droids could help advertise by displaying "marquee" signs, distinct from barker droids, but just a static sign of limited text that doesn't appear in spatial.
These all need some discussion because there's some danger of affecting the "roles" of other classes, as well as hurting the social focus for entertainer ones. Aside from coding, these types of things could change player incentives to interact with entertainers so such things must be done cautiously.
2) fun: The main reason for changes here are to increase the entertainer's role in the roleplay sense of simulating a performer in the world of Star Wars. That's the other meaning of Roleplay in RPG.
- More light shows--we have jawas dancing, why not ewoks and nighsisters (ok, maybe not them but why restrict ourselves to tatooine animals/wildlife)
- More sound choices--I've noticed (ok this is musician not dancer) that I can't seem to record the same song with different instruments on the same droid.
- More dance moves-- droids can sort of follow wedge or col on some dances, but it would be funny if they ahd a "dance" mode to correspond to some of the other dances
- Different functions for different droid types: I sometimes use a probot--be funny if it could shine a light *down* on me like a spotlght, or if my 3po could appear to be holding an instrument when he's on playback. Just fun stuff that's not functional.
I don't think there is as much need for cautionhere except aesthetic debates about what to include. Personally, dancing ewoks are my favourite, maybe in green. I'd like to see a rainbow of different animations of "dancing" characters , so that entertainers actually have variety in the shows they program. Maybe some ship animations, or rebel/imp faction images and the like.
Ultimately the "social" classes are unique in the trade of skills of having this focus on providing atmosphere and while many players often say that's unimportant, I think they're ignoring just how much time people do spend on decorating houses, their character and their posessions. Entertainer feeds into that side of what draws people to play the game and its undeniably an easy role to expand without stepping on the toes of other classes in some way. So while I don't want the functional side of entertaining to be dismissed as unimportant, I think the developers could quite easily add new "fun" droid module types for those who are socially inclined to enjoy and stimulate some droid sales.
