Many changes are coming. All of them are coming fast... including changes to Entertainer. I'm pretty sure it's all going to work out best for us and the game at large in the end, but the changes will feel drastic and rapid to many of us who have been around for a long time.
It's going to happen either way though, so it's not going to be very useful to get upset about these things. As long as the core purpose and fun behind Dancer is maintained, or even better enhanced, I'm a happy Dancer. I took up this attitude long ago and it's probably best that everyone else try to as well for sanity's sake.
The game's changing. Luckily, I think we have the staying power to survive changing with it.

This post worries me. And to then say it's not going to be useful to get upset tells me we have no control or input....

SOE may have found a way to make dancers and musicians totally useless. As it is now, many dancers and musicians (the ATK ones) are starting to hate what entertainer has become and feeling useless. With the powergamers getting everyhting they ever desired, SOE has to take away from somewhere else. They cried and complained about having to spend 5 or 6 minutes in a cantina to get buffs, but yet they would wait 10 minutes to get a 2700 doctor buff. They whined and moaned about having to spend 10 minutes getting mind wounds healed, but yet they spend 30 minutes or more looking for a medic to heal their other wounds. Because of those cries and moans about entertainer services taking forever, entertainers get bashed with a "healing/buff timehalved" bat.

The introduction of a jukebox is nothing more than the first wave of the "entertainer revamp". First, musicians will be replaced by jukeboxes and no one will go to a cantina to listen to the musicians jamming away. Next will be "holo-dancers" or something like that. People will be able to get these and reduce dancers to nothing more than skill animating players. "Why should I go to a cantina when I can listen to my jukebox and watch my holo-dancer to get heals and buffs?" will be the most commonly heard phrase in the game. Once these 2 wonderful items are brought live, what will entertainers do?

Entertainers will cease to exist. Why should we dance and play music when the only ones watching and listening are ourselves? We will serve no purpose to the community, no purpose to exist, and no purpose to play. SOE will have satisfied the powergamers fullest wishes while promising entertainers that everything is hunky-dorie. In reality, entertainers will be nerfed to the pont that there is no need to waste skillpoints on something that serves no purpose anymore. All of this is because powergamers hate having to interact with entertainers.

I love dancing and playing music. I love performing for an appreciative audience. I love wearing my Master Entertainer title. But times have changed that. I hate dancing anywhere but in my own home because of AFK lamers and spam. I hate playing music anywhere but in my own home because AFK lamers cry (when they bother checking) about having to change songs. I hate performing anywhere but in my own home because I'm sick of hearing people demanding me to buff them. I hate wearing my Master Entertainer title anywhere at all because people assume I'm just a bot on my way to set up somewhere.

Will I drop my entertainer skills? No, because of a very select few people that I love to be with and perform with hae made entertaineing fun. But if SOE decides to replace entertainers with cheap imitations of us, I will drop my entertainer skills, buy comp armorand join the masses in SWG - An Empire Soloed as one of the thousands AFK loot lamer clones.

For some reason, I don't think our future is that grim.

I'm waiting for the revamp before making any sort of judgements on the developer view of our profession. Right now we're in limbo, and I'm just going to sit back, relax, and let the combat upgrade run its course. Then, a little later, it'll be our turn.

Oh, that was just some advice from an old Glowie. I haven't seen anything new. I only know new stuff is coming, but we all know that. Tyrant himself came in here and posted that we were going to be revamped many months ago. My only "hunch" would be that it should be about that time.

I know Deila has been very busy in her communications with the Devs lately, but as usual she's under NDA so I don't know what's being said by who or anything else right now. I can say that I totally trust Deila to represent all Dancers and I think she is a great Corr! I'm waiting for the big news with the rest of you guys though.

Bullshhhhh-Nikes. C'mon, there has to be something you know! Otherwise, how would you know the changes will seem drastic and sudden? Spill it, blue girl!

Okay, you chomping-at-the-bit Dancers... here's the straight dope regarding what Panthu knows and doesn't.

Any discussions that may or may not be taking place, in the recent past, present orfuture,on certain topics that might have relevance to the entertainer professions in SWG, would have been or will be taking place in a forum that Blue Glowies do not have access to. I of course can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any such discussions that may or may not have taken place at this time, due to the existence of Correspondent NDA's.

In other words, Panthu (bless her heart) knows nothing. Leave her alone.

Now, that enough of an NDA disclaimer above there for everyone to go nuts with speculation about? Long and the short of it is... I'm busting my butt in there right now for all of you, which is why I've been quieter out here on these boards. Pan hasn't seen any legendary 'secret documents'.
