FYI, SpaceRancor just fixed the treetop cantina and says we should watch the patch notes for it.

I have not had much time to play past few days (killer week at work )

So, for those who had chance to explore the wookie world, is there really, truly nothing in there for us, profession related? Not even a mini-quest?

All things on Kashyyyk, beyond Kachirho (where you first load in), are pretty much combat-related. There aren't any quests that are non-combat that I can recall. I think the Kashyyyk Expansion is predominantly for combatants, because first of all - the Wookiee homeworld is supposed to be pretty dangerous. Second, it's been awhile since the last significant combat content was added...the Death Watch Bunker. I think the Devs' strategy with this expansion was to give combatants something new to do and check out, while they work on non-combatant stuff.

It has been awhile since the DWB went Live, so I understand getting out some serious combatant content. Still, at least the DWB included crafters in the process. And it would have been cool to get anything in the expansion for Entertainers to do, a new Kashyyykian instrument, some kind of Wookiee dance, heck I dunno. Anything would have been better than nothing, and a cantina whose functionality was never turned on or messed with.

I'm happy they're finally going to make that cantina work. The macrobots may end up there, but whatever. We Wookiees understand the value of quality entertainment. And, those who go there will be checking out the new content, and asking questions. And we'll be hanging out to get the scoop on stuff and telling people where to go/what to do. Or, just say, "heck I don't know - it's too dangerous out there, I just play music/dancein this big tree."

Please don't misunderstand me Warryyr, I am not begrudging other people getting content added. It's just that I'm surprised since it is an addition to the game as a whole and not a publish #XYZ that it was not intended for everyone in game.

That's all.

I have just never seen an expansion in other games being tailored only for certain classes while others classes didn't get zilch.

And yes, it's very nice of them to make the Cantina there actually functional.

I guess you've never played Everquest much at all....

Expansions tailored for a certain crowd, and giving others zilch or pushing them out... is something that SOE is very famous for.

With EQ though, it is usually an Expansion tailor for a specific Level Range... they push out the high end content for that game and then forget the little poeple, the newbie ranges... and they add more new content while neglecting the old content.

There are Zones in Everquest that sill remain unfinished... even after 6 years.

The only thing that SOE cares about, is marketing the game to the crowd of people that will make them the most money... and they ruined Everquest doing it.

Actually I did play old EQ for over 5 years, so know explansions were tailored to levels but never was a class left completely out.

Levels were left out, but never whole classes.

*nods* This is pretty much how I feel about it too. I think Warr was the first person to bug this cantina. I thought it might be intentional that it was just for show given the past responses about social hubs and new areas, but I was thrilled when a Dev came in and corrected me and said that Warr was right to bug it. It's great that they included a social spot for us, even though we weren't the focus for this EP.

I do like getting "the scoop" from the patrons and being able to pass on any tips I might have heard, so I might be out there shaking my groove thing with the Wooks.

What huh? *is confused* Whether or not you personally enjoyed EQ and the way new content came through the new zone EP method I can't say. I personally never cared for EQ even though I tried it a few times over many years... but goodness! You can't say the game was ever ruined. Games can be ruined. All the players unsub, there is no money coming in, the game servers go down... that still hasn't happened for EQ! They are just now combining servers and the game is a freaking dinosaur of MMOs.

Boy, if SWG is going to be "ruined" that way, I say bring it. Sure, it may not ever make everybody happy (like I said, EQ never did it for me), but if the game lives on, then Dancers live on... and that makes me very happy!

I assume when he said "ruined" hes speaking of it in the same terms that I would.. SoE killed the game for the "casual gamer", they made it impossible for somone to log in for 3 hours and acomplish something. If you wanted to go anywhere or do anything you had to be in a power gamer guild. if you were not in X,Y or Z guild you were a worthless Noob.

They don't even know the meaning of the word "Roleplay" anymore in EQ, on the server I played on there was only 3 roleplaying guilds and all three folded because of the power gamer mentality..

They are doing the same thing here... in slightly diffrent ways...

  • Forcing people to group

  • Nerfing crafting

  • Nerfing Entertaing

Sure.. EQ continues on. but its not the same game it was as littel as 2 years ago.. its all Me Me Me!! I want to be Uber... I need toget to Time..

I Really can see alot of paraleels here to EQ.. and that worries me.

Guess you haven't played recently then... At least certainly not since GoD and OoW were released... they screwed quite a few Classes then. There were rumors of them removing a couple Classes at one point. Many of them were constantly screaming "neglect! they're going to do away with us! neglect! we're a worthless class now because XYZ Class can do our job better! neglect!" ... */em scans the SWG Forums*... Sound familiar?

You want to know the truth about why they are combining Servers in EQ... just months after they adamantly and defiantly declared it would never happen?

They lost over half their player population with in just the last 5 - 6 months....

Server Populations dropped like a rock, they lost revenue becuase many people cancelled their accounts and went to other games like WoW and SWG...

Now they're turning SWG in to EQ... and look at the forums here... lot of peolpe upset over it, and threatening to cancel their accounts.

It happened in EQ.

The same company is running SWG.

...and they just ported EQ code into SWG...

Sure, maybe SWG will live on... but it will NEVER be the same game it was a year ago. NEVER.

You will be seeing within the next couple months... Ub3r L33t 12 Y3@r 01d's rushing the Level System so they can be the biggest, baddest in the game, get all the fanciest loot and gear and run around like jerk offs pretending they're better then they are because they got to join that super uber PA Guild and they can do things that you can't... because you can't play the game as much as they can... so nyah nyah.. they get to go "ppbpbpb!" at you and make faces over it.

I don't like what SWG is becoming... but I am staying because I have friends who enjoy playing it for what it is.. a Role-Playing Game.

Not some Uber Level Grind Fest.
