Just wanted you all to know that the Myoflex enhanced (BE'd) clothing issue is also being adressed on the tailor forums as is the armor for costumes issues. Entertainers aren't in this alone!

Wonderful, absolutetly wonderful. This isn't an upgrade, this is a nerf of all non-jedi professions. I read through the whole post and realized that my Pikeman/Medic/Doctor is pretty much useless after the "update". Since anyone can heal themselves, makes Medic/Doctor useless. Guess I'll be dropping skills to get the unarmed tree so I won't lose Master Pikeman. I'll be working on that in the upcoming weeks. So much for trying to keep points free for FS.

As for my Entertainer/Musician/Dancer/Pistoleer? Well, at least with falls going away I won't have to dance with a gun to maintain balance. I may end up dropping the Tech treesfrom Music and Danceand free up SP for what little medic skills... wait, won't be needing to keep medic at all. I can drop my medic skills and free up more SP for something else. I have no idea what I'm going to do now, since everything I was doing was based off keeping my entertainer skills.

Thank you Devs for this wonderful Combat Nerfdate. I can't wait till both my toons are nerfed out of exsistence. Looks like I'll be spendingmore of my time in EQ2 after the CN goes live. The one good thing they left untouched (for now) is JTL. But $15 a month to fly in space is a bit too much. I can break out X-Wing Alliance and fly there for free. Now only if I could find an entertainer there when I get shot down.....

From Blair's original post:

  • The following profession trees will be modified by adding and removing new special abilities to bring them in line with the new system: Marksmen, Medic, Brawler, Scout, Riflemen, Pistoleer, Carbineer, Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Commando, Pikeman, Swordsman, Fencer, Jedi, TKA, Doctor, Combat Medic.
  • All of the above professions will be re-balanced so that mastery requires a more equal number of skill points for each of the elite professions. No player will be able to master three elite combat professions.
  • The profession trees for Entertainers, Musicians, Dancers and Image Designers will be affected by the Combat Upgrade, and will likely need some profession tweaking because of the changes with wounds, stat migration and buffs to the mind. We will make adjustments to entertainers by creating some long lasting, minor buffs for combat professions.

  • And a little further down:

  • Players that have skill boxes in one of these affected professions will be allowed a skill re-spec for their character. This does not include the force sensitive skills. (A re-spec is short for "respecify". It is the chance to choose new skills for your character).

  • Later on, TH posts:

Folks who play existing combat professions will get a "respec" (A respec is when you can respecify your character's skills/abilities). (My emphasis in yellow)

So, is this just another classic example of TH forgetting that entertainers are players too? Will we be getting the opportunity for re-spec, as seems to be the case from Blair's post? If so, how will it work? Will it depend on skill points currently allocated, previous masteries, some other factor?

If the re-spec is dependent on previous masteries, it will be useless for any player who has notchanged profession and leveled to mastery atleast once. My entertainer templates have not changed since I completed them - I found the professions I enjoyed quickly, and kept them. Will I be stuck leveling a new profession from scratch if I choose not to keep my ent skills?

I'm going to cry if I can no longer wear the RIS that I spent weeks gathering things for, months mastering AS to make, and specially made just for myself, all because I am and still will be a TK/pike.

Not to mention my NS bicep. Things won't be pretty if I can't wear that.

That said, I think Esharra sums it up very well, better than I could have. It's scary, I didn't realize there were -quite- so many, and I've still been throwing a fit since that doc was posted.

I can't say for certain, but as the requirements for many of the elite combat professions are going to be changing to be either increased or decreased to two lines from a starter profession (i.e. the TKM who before needed only the unarmed line of brawler before will now need the unarmed and 2-handed lines so those who are TKMs now will need to either move skill points from somewhere else to fill in the 2-handed line if they wish to remain TKM, or possibly, if allowed, convert their TKM skills to something else that they would rather do instead), it is the combat players or the skill points devoted to combat skills that will need respec'ing. According to the CU post, Entertainer skills are not being affected in this way and thus would not need to be respec'ed to maintain ent masteries. Now maybe ent SP could be respec'ed to combat SP if you already have a combat profession and your combat requirements have changed. I don't know how they would actually implement this. Maybe something similar to what they did for Jedis?

Esharra, on this point, at least, I doubt there should be much concern. Although a Novice Ent. can heal BF, the rate as it is now, I think, is very slow. A while back I was trying to heal someone with about 900 BF with Novice Ent. skills, and after about 10 or 15 minutes or so it had only dropped 100 or 200 points as I recall. Given the hurry that most players are in, I doubt this would be an acceptable rate of healing, so I think in this regard at least, the low level skill will be inadequate much of the time, and the higher level skill will be far more desirable and in demand. On the down side that only gives continued value to the existence of BF bots.

I'm not particularly concerned about it myself. I don't think most combat players will consider BF the problem that obtaining buffs has seemed to them, simply because BF healing is completely passive..they don't even have the hassle of getting into the buff group. I suspect they just won't bother with having low level ent skills on their combat orcraftingcharacters..every skillpoint counts.I don't think they'll logtheir bots for BF healing and will keep the accounts open for lots. But someone mentioned the concern so it got itemized with the others. I'm not passing judgement on opinions..just gathering data to pass on to others.

I just want to point out a few things from.

The profession trees for Entertainers, Musicians, Dancers and Image Designers will be affected by the Combat Upgrade, and will likely need some profession tweaking because of the changes with wounds, stat migration and buffs to the mind. We will make adjustments to entertainers by creating some long lasting, minor buffs for combat professions. The initial changes to these professions will be:

    Profession Dancer

    • Added new dance (Tumble) to Dancing Knowledge I
    • Added new dance (Tumble2) to Dancing Knowledge II
    • Added new dance (Breakdance) to Dancing Knowledge III
    • Added new dance (Breakdance2) to Dancing Knowledge IV
    • Removed the 15 second delay between stopping one song or dance and starting a new song or dance.
    • Removed chance of making a mistake while dancing.

    Profession Musician

    • Added new song (Starwars4) to Novice Musician skill box.
    • Added new song (Funk) to Music Knowledge II.
    • Removed the 15 second delay between stopping one song or dance and starting a new song or dance.

    Profession - Image Designer

    • Reduced Image Designer skill point costs by 16 by reducing each skill box between Novice Image Designer and Master Image Designer by one point.
    • Removed Image Designer action timers for Body and Cosmetic changes.

I was wondering about this as well. Currently, I'm a TKM, Master Dancer, Master Entertainer, with the rest in FS skills.

Now, we can't respec the FS skills. And, if I can't respec any dancer or entertainer, then how exactly am I going to fill up that extra line in Brawler? Am I going to have to use some TKM boxes to fill out the Brawler boxes and then be required to grindback 5-8 of the hardest TKM boxes?

Been wondering this too. I just can't see them penalizing existing masters in such a way.

Existing masters should be grandfathered in and not have to respec, but as if that would happen . . .

Actually what I believe Blair said was that all players who have points in those professions will get a respec... lemme see if I can dig up a quote...
