Thread: My Dancer Revamp Wishlist
Esharra wrote:A Fame or Popularity rating system:Selling/trading the tradable form of Inspiration and completing missions at the underused NPC cantinas and hotels would (in addition to credit reward) award the dancer with Fame points. Fame points may be traded to the Theater Managers to purchase props and entertainer specific clothing or to the Choreographers to obtain additional base dances and flourishes. Any obtainable clothing or items should be either gender neutral or have an equivalent item for both male and female avatars. In addition to providing a post-mastery game, a Fame rating system could also be incorporated into a pvp competitiveness; awarding dancers with high Fame rating the priveledge of billboard advertisement when performing in select cantinas or hotels, public display of their holographic recordings in cantinas where no entertainer players are available or public availability of their uncharged Inspiration recordings for purchase at a NPC cantina (payment going from the cantina to the dancer). The player obtaining the uncharged Inspiration recording would contact the dancer to arrange to get the recording charged. You may find information about Deila's Fame System here. Panthu's list of enhancements for dancers may be found here.
So you want to add yet more Lag to the cities with these Advertisements (Holograpgic Billboards and Recordings in public places) so less people go to those cities? If not then how do yo propose SOE implement this without the Lag?
There are some player cities out there, that I and some of my friends simply can not pass through because they are so populated by structures the lag is just tooo much... most of the NPC cities are terrible... I have a friend who simply can not approach ANY NPC city because of the lag, or computer craps out as a result of trying to enter one... yet she is very interested in pursuing one of the Entertainment Professions...
So how will she benefit from this Fame System? Or are you being prejudice towards people who can not afford better Computers to run SWG effieciently yet still loves the game?
Now ok, those Datapad Recordings sound like a cool idea... just not the Billboard Advertisements and such.... I don't want a bunch of Billboards trying to load onto my screen while I am riding my speederbike through Lagg's Ville, Tatooine...just to find a player vendor...Entertainer Oriented Adventure:A "themepark" type adventure of multiple entertainer quests rewarding the participants with permanent admission to Jabba's throneroom.
Ok, so how many ways does there need to be to gain access to the Throne Room? There are already 2...
Ok granted; one way involves the Privateer piloting tree but it is only the first two Teirs and the mission is given out at random by the Tatooine Space Station.. but it is doable... though I was not able to complete it on my own, I had a friend fly as my wingmate in her Krayt... I just hit the waypoints and she blasted the heck out of the targets that spawned and bam... I had access to Jabba's throne room without doing any work...
As for the Themepark... even a novice combat prof to easily get through it with a friend helping them... I was amazed at how easy it was when I did it just recently on another character, with just basic Marksman skills. I only needed a friend to help with a couple missions to complete it but for the most part it was super easy...
Don't see why someone can't just drop one Skill Tree of their Ent profession... pick up one novice combat tree and go knock it out.. be in Jabba's Throneroom within a day.... then drop those combat skills and go push the ent skills back up... say the ID tree in Entertainer... one could easily work that one up in less then an hour in the Cantina Entertainer Groups...
You guys could be in Jabba's Palace with in a days time, with just a days bit of work... working on either of the two ways to gain entry.
For that matter... how many Entertainers can we crame into that Throne Room.. performing... until it gets so laggy that no one ever bothers to go there anymore?
As for access to Jabba's. I'm sorry but I don't feel that I should surrender my skills to get some combat ability to get in. That's be like telling someone who needs clothes to drop a skill tree from pistoleer to make some pants. Some people like combat and some people like other aspects of the game. We should not have to be forced into a part of the game we don't want our character to go just for access to a very entertainer centric spot.

How about if the billboard was just attached to the cantina as a sign with "Now appearing....." That's not going to create any where near as much lag as someone say...fighting in front of or even inside the cantina. Or even as much as a bunch of people leaving their vehicles parked in front.

Many people choose to become entertainers or crafters because they do not want just another "shoot 'em up".Why should "blast 'em" professions be the only ones that get access to a popular POI? All we're saying is that if you are going to offer a game that says you can enjoy the Star Wars Universe without being a fighter then let us actually do that. And I don't think entertainers with access to Jabbas are going to just decide to live there so that they'll be so much lag no one else can everenter again. We aren't asking to be able to heal there. We just want the option of dancing and playing music there without having to go kill something first.
I would love that!

Ok, here's a simple request. How about hotkeys for bandflourishes? The only way to get that now is to make a macro out of each one. It would be nice if we had an existing set that we could just drag into the hotkey toold bar and use right away like the standard flourishes. This should be trivial to do.

The following contains ideas that I would like to see considered for Dancers in an Entertainer Revamp. Many of these ideas readily crossover to Musicians and Image Designers. I have not included bug fixes or directly addressed our common issues (although some would be addressed).
Skill Advancement:
A variety of additional inspiration enhancements, graduated by skill level:
^ The idea was brought up either to lessen the SP reqs for Ent or a new point system for them in general. Nothing can be said for defenate but they at least know thatthere should be something done.
An alternate means of providing higher level Inspirations:
^ Good idea.
A Fame or Popularity rating system:
^ Was discussed and said that it wouldnt be feasible. Would be like the Fight Club problem. Where guilds and people more well connected would get high on the rating system and would be extremely hard for those not well connected or in a powerful guild to compete.
A Performance Group option:
^ Was brought up. N hopefully they will adress the problem. Cause they know the group nerf hurt ents alot. Also dancerflourishs and effectflourishes were brought up.
Player created props and costuming:
^ Chs might get that for their now worthless pets, to make em into stuffed animals instead of setting them free.
Dance Instructors:
^ Chances are that they will implement something like that so non ents dont do that so aweful dance emote. And on the same note: Let people have better emotes auto playing while listening to a musician. So no more waving your hands wild in the air while someone is playing ballad or waltz.
Entertainer Oriented Adventure:
^ Good idea.
Theatrical Performances:
^ Was brought up and hopefully will get implemented.
But a permanant /denyservice list was shot down. ( Griefing Issue). As was a private area for person to person buffing. (Due to the chance of even more bots).
Alot of things were brought up. More than I care to write and more than I can remember. But as it stands now Ents are not the major concern for the Devs atm.
PS: Sry for bugging u that one day Esharra. N thx for your help.

Higher level dancers/musicians can buff higher combat-level players better than low-level ones and vice versa ... low level dancers/musicians can buff low-combat-level players better but for that they cannot buff high-lvl players so well!
This way it would also make sense to use covercharge while other dancers/musicians are around which are not master and not demanding covercharge or only a few.
You said Revamp right???
**Change all Base Dances**
Humm that base dance looks a bit Choppy between flourishes!!!
They could continue to try to fix the base dances oooorrr
Almost every flouish starts and ends in the same pose for each respective dance already.
So why cant we just use that simple pose instead of a base dance??!!
This would make all dances flow smoother.
This would *almost* eliminate the need for a group /startdance /enddance or /changedance.
(don't understand how? please read the explination section)
They could also make the old base dance a new flourish so we wont accually loose a thing!
***Jazz and Ballet Run***
I know this is very unlikely to happen but here it goes!
I have thought about this time and time again when doing a performance and someone
wants to change the positions of the whole group.
Changing position looks so ugly and it can be much prettier if we were able to do a jazz
or ballet run instead of regular walking or runing. It doesnt even need to be limited to
Jazz or Ballet runs or walks.. Imagine .. we could do the same for breakdance.
We are dancers. Why not run or even walk with style when we want to!
***It's all about the flo***
I know I am dreaming but stacking flo's would be really very nice as to help make things
flo a little better.
***Explination***
Explination for "This would *almost* eliminate the need for a group /startdance /enddance or /changedance"
I am not sure how many of you have been to a live performance, much less to an outdoor dance performance
or recital without a curtain to hide things. This is the situation that we are all in durring gameplay. We are all
really outdoor performers we have no backstage! How do real dancers deal with this. Very simply, we even do
it every day in dance class. We simply ballet or jazz run to position.. we wait for everyone to hit thier respective
marks, the music starts and then we dance. How would this work in SWG? In a performance situation and would
it really remove the need for group startdance enddance or changedance? Yes in some cases, everyone could get
into position /startdance formal (it wouldnt need to be in unison as it rarely ever is in real life) once everyone hits
thier marks the choreographer starts the /bandflo. What about End dance? well if you stop your macro or if you
stop /bandflo your in a pose! Wow instant finish. Change dance.. well you prolly already have the idea.
Well thats what I would really like.
