Maybe there could be some sort of option to where you can buff yourself without skill animating, and it would only work while targeting yourself. I can't program past Visual Basic, but it's an idea

Yeah I noticed while dancing you can't do a /watch or /listen, even if its someone in your own group. You have to stop dancing first.

I can understand now wanting to allow a dancer to gain xp from buffing themselves, but if they can set it up so a Doctor doesn't get xp when buffing herself, then its certainally possible to make dancing the same way. It is frustraing to be the ONL person in your group to go into combat without a buff.

I don't really think it has anything at allto do with not being able to watch ourselves. See, when we start dancing, we automatically, and by default, are watching ourselves. That is why we can heal our own BF and mind wounds. It's something else... and likely something counter-intuitive.

Right, we automatically watch ourselves, hence we heal ourselves. We get no exp for it. We can also target ourselves, I've done so on many occasions to see what my title was. So, we can target ourselves, and we automatically watch ourselves. Maybe the issue is we can't *stop* watching ourselves (We're just that vain!) But, then again, I don't see why not. We have a /stopwatch command. And, also, as I'm sure many have noticed, when a dancer dances, they can't watch another dancer. So, to me, that says we're watching ourselves the whole time, automatically.

I think then it may be an issue of both though. The issue of not being able to do the normal target of ourselves to /watch and that we automatically watch.

If we could target ourselves like we can others I'm betting we could buff ourselves. What is probably happening is the "auto-watch" of ourselves has the limitation of not allowing you to buff your own mind but the "normal" /watch does not.

Yes, very good. I'll bet the problem is they can't code it to let ourselves stop watching ourself without breaking us. Or perhaps, in order to heal ourselves, we'd have to ALWAYS watch ourselves everytime. turning off auto-watch may cause bigger problems.

Then I'd say take out the "auto-watch" of ourselves if it is causing the problem and make it so we can /watch while animating with the "normal" watch mechanism.

The only additional step it would take at that point is to just target yourself and do a /watch while animating. One which I would gladly do to be able to buff ourselves.

If the only reason the "auto-watch" is in is to heal our own wounds then they could most certainly cover this by making the above change. It just wouldn't be automatic anymore and would require an active additional step by the performer.

Well, not quite right either, as I see it. See, as soon as we stop dancing, we also stop watching ourselves. This is why if we're not performing, we can be healed by another performer, but if we start dancing, all healing XP is cut off as our self-healing shifts our watching/listening back onto ourselves, andwe don't get healing XP forself-healing.

If we never stopped /watching ourselves, we could never get mind buffs from other dancers either... as we'd be watching us, and not them.

I'll have to check this out but I don't think this is quite right. If you start watching another dancer in your group....then startdancing and execute a /stopwatch while still dancing you get a buff (need to double check but I'm sure this is the case).

So probably what is happening here....

1. The first /watch set does notallow the "auto-self watch" to kick on until you do a /stopwatch which affects your /watch of the other performer.

so what appears to be happening here is there are two seperate watches and listens. One for ourselves and one for others. This is why I say remove the "auto-watch" and allow it to be set like watching another entertainer and have the same affects. The only addition that would need to happen is having it so you can /watch or /listen while skill animating.

I think you will find is that you stop watching yourself and experience stops building. There is a bug that when someone stops listening to a musician the musician also stops listening to themselves and they get an interuption in their sound. There is a watchdog process that restarts a musician listening. I've read the same thing happens with dance but they don't have that watchdog to restart them watching themselves. Once they stop and start again or someone else does a /startwatch all the experience suddenly gets accrued but if they leave the cantina or log in the unwatching state they can lose experience. So watching someone else why you are dancing yourself could cause you problems in accruing experience.
