Hi,

Was wondering if anyone heard of Dancers ever being able to buff themselves from Devs? I originaly became a dancer for when I group with my friends based on their proffesions. I found it a little upsetting that I would not get buffed myself when grouped. I mean a Master Doctor is able to buff himself why not a Dancer or Musician? It is rather annoying to have to run around looking for a master dancer to get a mind buff when I myself have the ability. Just wondering others views on this.

Well, they have been hashing this around for a long time, but from what I remember hearing, there was a conflict in that we gain experience for buffing, and the devs thought that buffing ourselves would be unbalancing for the profession for the endless xp loop that could exist Or something to that effect. Like we don't gain experience for dancing anyway *sighs* and honestly, we don't get THAT much for buffing....if they were really worried aboutthe extra xpbeing a conflict, you would think they would take out the effect ofapplause or cheeringgivinga bonusas well..... (or have they already? O_o haven't been dancing much lately )

Well, the emote bonuses (or determents) are intended and very small, so I don't think they are going anywhere. They just aren't very noticeable.

I think the most true thing I've heard about why we can't buff ourselves is the same reason we aren't seeing any of the buffing improvements we've asked for: our buffing code is a mess and needs a full rewrite.

That's what our Dev told both me and Tiaga in person and I think it's the frankest answer we've gotten, though there have been two others on self buffing in particular.

I buy the "code is a mess" response as the most honest and plausible as well. They can't really be worried about the ability to self-generate 2-7 healing XP per tick. If they were that worried about "free" XP, they'd have cracked down on AFK minutes after it appeared.

Just make it so we dont get xp for buffing ourselves, i'd be happy to sacrafice some crappy amount of xp for a buff when i need it. Or is that too easy?

Why can't the devs make Dancer like Medic. You don't get any xp for healing yourself as a medic you only get xp for healing someone else. Dancer should work the same way. No xp for buffing yourself only when you buff others.

Again, ladies and gentlemen, it's likely not an issue with xp imbalances. Real reasons for not changing the buff coding in a manner beneficial to the entertainer probably lie within the complexity of theskill and the "messy" nature of our buff coding.

Yeah they probably hired someone with a degree fresh out of the "Barbizon School of Programming" to write the code instead of some 17 year old computer geek who actually knows what he's doing.

Mabye in a future patch the devs could let dancers dance infront of mirrors to buff themselves

Sure. Problem is, they'll forget to put the mirrors in the game to go with it...

I heard it had something to do with self-targeting.Doc's can buff themselves, but they aren't skill animating when they do it.There's some conflict with the waywe perform our buffs anduse the targeting system. I don't understand it, but there you go...

Maybe there could be some sort of option to where you can buff yourself without skill animating, and it would only work while targeting yourself. I can't program past Visual Basic, but it's an idea
