The best tactic my male dancer colleagues seem to haveis to not let it bother them. Making fun of their insecurity works well too (and will usually get all the women in the cantina making fun of them too... since they were trying to look tough bashing you, this drives them nuts!)

Something about pointing out who is the one constantly surrounded by all the women and who is always out alone with other guys tends to take the wind out of their sails.

hehe! I didn't say anything about the last part.

I recall the a response awhile back on this subject. The male dancers response to any demeaning comments was something to the lines of:

You're out hunting knee deep in rancor droppings with a bunch of guys in tin suits, while I am here in the cantina surrounded by beautiful women.

If you are comfortable enough to hit on them, I've seen that to be an effective method as well. However if you are the non confrontational type, /addignore. My best advice is to seek out fellow entertainers, very view that I have run into have anything against male dancers. If they do start that way, they change before long or learn to hide it very well. You're fellow entertainers will stick up for you and make situations like this alot more bearable.

/blush Thanks Sunjammer for using a quote from a post of mine about this stuff. Since I've come back it hasn't been as bad as it was during the hologrind but lately I've had guys tell me my title is funny or say "dude, why are you dancing". The funniest thing was last time I was dancing with a beautiful young lady and I was asked this and I replied "look at my partner" and the reply back was.....so? If I need to explain that then it kinda makes me wonder who has the lesser of the "male drives". When I'm told my title is funny I ask "why's that" to which the intellectual reasoning of "it just is" usually comes back. Then I usually go on to tell them about how enjoyable the social aspect of the game is for me and what a great gig entertainer is to do.

I thought I was the only weirdo that thought this but I was dancing with my friend tonight and somehow she and I got on the topic of male and female dancers doing the exotic dances together being the closest thing to sex in the game LOL prob shouldn't say that cause I'll never get another dance partner For me I'm a pretty passionate individual so dancing like that with a woman is quite expressive. The body language involved for communication with no words especially when you're in sync and bandfloing is something to behold!!

A Male Master Dancer title just means the ladies know they get to see a man use advanced moves, don't have to worry about teaching them any skills, and aren't stuck with the basics

I should add I've had women patrons ask me if I was really a guy before too. The funniest one was the last one in which she said "are you really a guy?"....."yes"....."well get your pants off and get to work"....after I got done laughing on came the hotpants and I got to work

War Gronda mission vs having a woman tell me to take my pants off and get to work......yeah that's a tough choice.....needless to say my character has no combat skills.

Okay please don't take this the wrong way lol..but the ladies I hang out with on SF,,we actually LIKE watching male dancers. We find them really hot lol. But you really shouldn't let what anyone says get you hun. If you are happy in what you do then thats all that should really matter.Just remember..its only words while they can cut..its best to Be yourself because the people that mind don't matter and the people that matter don't mind. SO Smile and dance the night away =)

Hi there,

im pretty new to entertainment. i just started my chatti on farstar a good week ago.

she a nice dark hided girl and pretty well build, as i think- but i am a guy.

i like to play my girl, i have a chatti also on kettemoor, even if im a guy.

i never had those bad tells and or behavior, even when i was flrited to from guys and they

found out i am a guy, some wre curious, some maybe a bit offended first...

but i never lied to them or tried to play the girl to get more better tips... whenever i had the

feeling they may getting fantasies, i told them im a guy and all of them just asked me nice

and freindly, why the heck i then play a girl and even dance???

my answer? because its a roleplay and im a real man in life, so i like playing a girl. for fun

and because its fun to see the other side. even, the best, to see all those really big mouthed,

heavy muscled guysgetting kicked in their backsides by a small skinny girl

after that all laughed and thats it. i wont try to find an ingmame man who is a man in rl for trying

a partnership, but with flirting and all other entertainer stuff i have no problems, its fun-

hey isnt it a roleplay?

im sorry for you to get those bad response, but it is as everywhere else- bad and nice ar all over all...

sorry to hear about your negative experience

it's been different for me, in that a lot of male players will just say daft things like "Dude, that looks allllll wrong" when buffing or healing them - which I find quite funny, and actually starts a whole bunch of conversations as to why I decided to be a dancer. Plus I find that sometimes female dancers enjoy dancing with male dancers particularly as it makes a little change from dancing with females all the time - there are definitely less male dancers around!

having said that, mind buffs tend to decrease in number when there is another female dancer in the cantina, so I think female dancers should be nerfed! (j/k!)

Happened to me more than a few times. Rude comments, the works. Shrug it off, male dancers need thick skins.

Or do what I do, hit on them. That scares most of them off pretty well.

Quite honestly, there's not a lot of respect for dancers across the board, so females and males alike deal with verbal abuse at times. Sorry you ran into it so soon, but it goes with the territory.

Just remembered a couple of my "homophob" retorts...feel free to use any you like

*Ignorant Patron spits on you* (been awhile since I've had this happen)

Retort - Ohhhhh, thanks for oiling me up big daddy...you know what I like.

Patron - Dude, you're queer

Retort - And I'm all yours!!

Patron - Shut up you queer

Retort - yes I've been bad and need a good spanking

Patron - Haha you look so queer

Retort - and you look interested

I also have an outfit that goes on about this time consisting of Pink Hotpants...Pink chef's hat....Long Pink formal gloves....Pink padded boots....two bracelets and a necklace

If nothing else it gives them zero satisfaction which is what it's all about and it usually just ends up making me laugh.

"I feel a story here...."

Well, hitting on them does work if they're your average teen who gets weirded out by that. Which is a great majority of the player base, really. But there were a few cases...

One was someone who, I think, really was openly gay. He threw a statement out that could be taken either way, like "Wow, you're a pretty boy." That might be an insult, it might be a compliment. So I hit on him and he took it in stride and hit right back. If I didn't have to leave the cantina because friends were waiting for me, things might have gotten real interesting.

Another time, the guy was pretty much in my face from the beginning. Hitting on him just generated comments I won't repeat here, but they were things like ordering me to perform various derogatory sexual acts and that sort of thing. I can't recall if I just left or put him on ignore, it was a while ago.

I don't seem to get so many rough comments nowadaya, but then I rarely enter an NPC cantina, and if I do, it's usually not to dance.
