lol i see both sides of this cos I'm a guy, I've got a female dancer on Bria (no gender-bending issues, just thought she'd get better tips!) & male combat toons on 3 other servers. I've probably been guilty of flirting with the odd toon too, on all servers. I suppose I foolishly assume that everyone else plays the game like I do, ie treats it as a game & not real life, if some dancer throws a few flirty emotes at me I flirt back, I dont care if they're a dude or a girl, it's a game, I treat it as a bit of roleplay, nothing more, nothing less. I've also had some dancer toon start flirting with me in coro & responded only to be told 'IF YOU'RE GONNA CYBER WITH THAT GUY TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE RUDY'!!! Do people really think that I'm getting my rocks off being /kissed by a computer character? LOL, all I can say is to even think that was the case you've got issues. I got the RL girlfriend for that kinda stuff, it's more fun that way!
If you ask me the only way to play the game's if your toon's a girl I'll treat you like a lady, what's the point of worrying about who's behind the keyboard, you'll never know.

I want to know what it is with men and Twi'leks. Especially Twi'lek dancers.
My dancer, Rhyse'ra, a dark purple twi'lek, is a fairly new character. However, she has already been hit on, flirted with, proposed to and so on so many times, I've lost count. There are some very sweet guys that roleplay with me that like her, which I don't mind, knowing that if it got annoying or uncomfortable I could just ask them to stop, OOCly, and they would. It's not been too extreme yet, luckily, so I've not had to ignore anyone.
I did come close when some guys were hitting on me while dancing, but some comments along the lines of "Do you mind, you are invading my personal space", "I do not think we would be genetically compatible" and so on helped, as did the assistance of the nice guy dancing next to me.
I never had those problems when I danced with Kaline. Of course, I did most of my dancing with her in Mos Eisley, where she's known as a tough lady who can take out prety much anyone in a fight. Playing it as Rhys being under her protection gives Rhys a bit of a break from the roleplayed-tough guys, they don't want Kaline to kick their butts.

not every guy in game has rl girlfriends, and they need an "outlet" for their frustration

Yes, I've even had to resort to hitting on popular male server-mates at times
Then again, Til would flirt with a Rancor if it was the only living being in sight....

Anytime you have a way for people who have never met to communicate with each other, hook ups will happen. SWG has very detailed and expressive character avatars so it's really easy to convert the text we type into something close to our real emotional states. Even when you go in with the idea that you won't get attached to the people you are interacting with it's very easy to slip and fall in love or at the very least become incredibly attracted to the idea of 'what if I meet this person out side of the game and this IS them?'
Anyone who has been a part of an online community knows people that met their partner online or at the very least has made some lasting RL friendships that way. It's like a great big constume party and everyone is a little tipsy and in the mood to find someone. It's no wonder that so many really do.
What really sucks is when you find someone that you are absolutly and totally drawn to and in love with and you look at the situation realistically and it's just not possible for it to work because of distance, family or financial problems.

I can honestly say that my female Bothan Tailor/ID has never been hit on, nor assumed to be played by a male player (which she is)... At least not vocally. Though, she doesn't really open many doors upfor idle chat. She's pretty much strictly business... Though, I'm also willing to bet that most people don't warm up to bothans as quickly as other races.
Oh, and I'm bothan in RL as well, so there wouldbe no surprises there at least.

I LOVE Bothans. I have two of the fuzzy guys on my server that I just adore. They're so sweet!

My main character is a male Twi'lek, and whats funny is I have hit on a female bothan. Go figure.
It also wasn't just messing around, she's cute heh.

There is very, very little chance that yourun any real risk in admitting your RL gender. That being said, it's none of their business if you don't want to say. But I've been asked that numerous times, and I always answer it, and I can honestly say that not one of them has moved to Ohio and hidden in my bushes witha pair of binoculars.

I can't say that any more. Tonight two completely different people asked if I was a girl in RL. And it totally freaked me out. I probably overreacted, but it felt like such an invasion of my privacy; I froze up and couldn't say anything. It was as if they were going to start stalking me if I said yes.
The first time it was /tell after he left the cantina, so I was able to ignore him and soon forget it, but the second time, the guy was standing right in front of me, and up till then we'd been having a normal conversation. I couldn't keep dancing, even after he apologized and left. It just destroyed any sense of comfort or safety. I even changed into a more modest shirt.
Any advice?
