Thread: Petition for 30 second Mind buffs
Gah, wouldn't that be cool? I'll try reposting that in the corre forum, but I don't know if today (or this week even) is going to be a great time to get attention... try to remember this one or stick it in the issues thread unless it gets lost.

I'd like to see us able to give an instant buff for ONE person that has a delay after giving it. The easiest way to make this happen and look good through dancing is with it being tied to a special effect while dancing. Allow us still to give a group mind buff over a duration but allow us to zap someone with an instant mindbuff with a simple /dazzle mind or /color mind command with a delay just like a doctor has on a stat buff. The buff effect would take a larger than normal action amount of couse as opposed to the group buff which would just be the already in effect dance while being watched.
The other important change I would make to this buff action is that it would not require the person to be /watching you at all. It would be 100% under the control of the dancer or musician (since this could easily work for the musician as well).
I have to say in nearly 8 months of being a dancer, I have never once had a customer complain about how long it was taking to do a buff. If you entertain the customer as well as buffing them, I don't think they mind at all.

I don't like to complain about mind buffs, I am grateful to each and every musician & dancer able to buff, it's difficult enough at times to find a mind buff, so why try and put them off continueing the profession?
as a general rule, I tip twice the buffed amount, a lot of entertainers only ask for 5k, I tip 10k. Speed tapes for dancing and mind buffs would make a significant difference to the prof and would maybe help no end. A doc with speed tapes can buff in a full set in less than 30 seconds, compare this to entertainer profs and it's just not fair. I have seen many people drop the entertainer prof to go doc because they can't make the same kind of money, this is quite sad that swg has this kind of situation.
Mind buffs are a maximum of 2 hours too, this doesn't work with doc buffs, they last for an average of over 3 hours, soe should either bring mind buff times in line with doc buffdurationsor allow stacking of them again.
I don't really think we need the 30 second buff.A little over 3 minutes and you are set. From what I read in the forums many people still use the original8 - 10 minute rule. Plus you can group and do about 20 patrons in the same amount of time. Just let a doctor try and do that.
Of course getting them to watch all at once can be a bit trying.
As for money, while I like tips (don't we all) most of us do it because we love the prof and the interaction with our customers, we don't dance to get rich, although that would be nice.If we could just get the buff to stick every time. . .
In answer to Panthu below (if you are referring to my post) I am FAR from satisfied with the Dancer's state of affairs. I am only reffering to the IMO uneeded speed buff.

Please be careful with your comments
... let's not give the impression that we are satisfied with our current state in the game if that isn't really the case.
Positive comments are good! Discounting our profession makes it hard to get any attention though. ![]()

great idea i love it.
Panthu, I, too, have to ask for clarification as to your post. I couldn't care less about the 30 second buff - I neverused it and was never asked to. I probably wouldn't use iteven if it were made available as I am a roleplayer and it runs contrary to my play style. However, your post makes it sound as though we should curb our comments to fit in line withan agenda. I, for one, am not willing to do that. There are plenty of things I am not happy about regarding the "state" of our profession. The loss of the 30 second buff is not one of them and I feel I have the right to say so.
