Thread: When buffs fail :(

Its been awhile since I had a buff fail, but tonight I tried twice on a customer, using both the active and passive methods and neither of them worked. This is extremely discouraging not to mention embarassing. Its just another reason why we need to be able to tell if the buff process is working BEFORE we spend 8 minutes (or however long it takes you) wasting a customer's time. I am pretty sure the guy was /watching me, he affirmed he was. I did everything the way I have been for months, but it didn't work.

Honestly, its only decent to ask that we be able to monitor the buffing process. It doesn't give us some unfair advantage that is going to throw the whole balance of the universe out of line, it simply allows us to do our jobs. I don't think its a lot to ask.

I'm horribly embarassed now, I gave the guy his money back and logged because I was so discouraged and humiliated about not being able to buff him after 20 minutes of trying. I am a Master and take my profession seriously, I need to know when my buffs aren't working so I don't diminish my reputation. After all, one of a Dancer's most important assets is her(or his) reputation.

*cry* I'm so embarassed now and my confidence is shot...

I had this happen to, once, before the last pub. I was trying to buff a friend who hadn't been online in about 2 months and hadn't seen this new char. I tried 2 times but it just wouldn't work. I think I was just bugged ( I know he was watching andI did /setperf) so I didn't buff anyone else that night. I was soooooo mad.My friend didn't mind, thank God, but it was really frstrating.

Since the pub, well, let's just say the my husband's 2 'toons are my guinea pigs

I'm close to getting it fixing it though.

Don't let it kill your confidence! We all have had this happen at one time or another. I bet next time it works just fine!

The "fixes" for our buffs left some things semi-broken. I too have had this problem (getting buffed since the patch.) It's a random problem that I seem to get when I use the radial menu to watch the dancer or whe I use the radial menu to stop watching. The /watch command still only seems to work about 1 in four times.

I had this happen to me 3 times since the last publish. For one incident, I think I /setperform before he was watching me, and I feel that somehow messed it up.Another time I found he stopped watching then restarted every time I stopped to heal myself. Now I'm just extra careful when I buff. Ask the person if they received themessage that your attention is set to them and the 2 minute warning.

Don't feel bad, it happens. It shouldn't, but it does, and it's not your fault.

I gave about 6 buffs last night. One of them didn't work at all. He watched, I used /setperform, he stopped watching when I told him to...and nothing. *shrug*

Don't let it throw. I have had this happen as well. Themost embarrassing time was a fellow Ent. I /setperformed. Floed like crazy and he ended up getting a buff for about 30 seconds. . . twice in a row! I know it easy for us to say this to you, I also know what its like to be in your shows. You lose your confidence and wonder what you did wrong and worry about the next one. Please don't. I do enough worrying for the entire Bria server.

Sorry to hear about that. Nice to see you Dancers are so supportive of each other. (Not like us cantankerous horn-blowers!)

Hmm, by any chance was a Musician playing in the room at the same time? Is it possible a Musician was actively buffing your target? Were you grouped with any Musicians?

The person doing the buff in my case was a master musician and dancer. She did the dance buff first (didn't take) then she tried the music buff (it also didn't take). Then she tried dancebuffing me again and after two minutes I stopped watching and still didn't have a buff. So we did another 8 mins... so basically a total of 18 mins and then the buff finally stuck after I tried the third command option through the group menu (right click on her status bar to get the stop watch and watch commands).
