Would you be interested in a entertainer website with dance macro's, image design, musician stuff, hairstyles, eye color charts etc...???

Well for image designers, there is a very well done page at swg.atomicspacekitty.com (A website that was almost gone, and I for one am very glad it is back.) You may recognize some of the pictures there from the recent Friday Feature about the ID mini-publish.

For performance, I'm not really sure what sort of web pages would be useful. Maybe something like Sultrina's Dance Academy... But just macros and that sort of thing would make for a rather dull place.

There are a few bands that have their own web page, even a few that have their own live DJ with streaming music 24/7. (No, not the game music.) A club I used to dance for regularly had such a thing. Sadly, the DJ left the game a and the club closed down.

A website for entertainers would have to be different to say the least - interative, fun, social . . . just like we are!

To attract "real" entertainers (not the holotainers in it for the grind to Jedi) it would take a bit of doing, but with the right input it might work. However, your focus would need to be different - we are not macrotainers. We may utilize macros to benefit our play style and the needs of our patrons, but our focus is on making our little area of the galaxy fun and entertaining for ourselves and others. Many (if not most) of us are role players and as such desire more interaction than perhaps other profs.

I know that I'm not the only person that has a few song macros stashed away for SINGING while you're dancing. Perhaps part of the page could be for folks to suggest songs that could go along with your dance or playing. (I'm rather a big fan of Delerium for singing in game myself. But there's tons more.)

This week I was subjected to something that up until then had just been a word for me. But as soon as I started to understand it, it really started to hit me that it might just be the kind of thing for entertainers.

What I'm talking about is a wiki. For those who haven't heard of it, basically it is a web site written by the community. The original Wiki has lots of information on what it is, how it works, why it works, and that sort of stuff.

What got me to think about this, is it seems to be an entertainer web page would be something to express the community knowledge of being an entertainer. When I was subjected to wiki this week, it seemed like the perfect medium for community knowledge - something the community writes.

Ooh ooh! That's exactly what I was thinking Tiaga! I put in a Domain request for swgdancer.com last week when I was working on the Master Dancer list. I wantedus to have a real place for "Calling Cards" and it just wouldn't work right in the forum here.

Also, the TC off site board has really inspired me. We need more community with out all the questions that seem to throw us off. I wasgoing to wait tillI had the site up, but I'd really like it if we could havefancy copies of some of our posts and little articles and what not.

Wikis are good, I think we can do that!

So that's why it was taken. Networksolutions suggested "skidancer.com" "divinedancer.com" "christiandancer.com" or "chipdancer.com" .... Not sure what to make of that..

I was going to grab swgentertainer or swgentertainers. I don't like the segregation of dancers and musicians, we should all be working together. Right now these boards enforce that segregation, everyone goes to either the dancer or musician board. I'd like to see steps taken for any external community to try and break that down and make it just a community of entertainers.

Ha!

Oki, I can donate the Server space if you want to handle the main coding of the site... I mean, I can host the whole thing. We can have both domains resolve to the same site.

What's up with swgmusician.com? Should someone be grabbing that too?

Well seeing as I've already got my servers configured.... (I've got an equipment rack about 6 feet behind me which already hosts the SWG city planner I made)

K, well, I'm a founder in a High Bandwidth Web Hosting ISP company that has been turning a profit for the past two years and I've been doing Web admin since I was 20, but that's cool. lol

I am not intimidated by your puny at home rack, you can't beat my NOC! Mwahaha.... *cough*

Ok, now that the techie peeing contest is over, are you just wanting me to put in your IP for the swgdancer.com DNS listing? It's cool, just give us a little space for Dancer Calling Cards somewhere off to the side and I need no more input other than the normal community member is going to be giving. Just email the IP to my panthu at mmoghell.com addy and I'll the DNS setup tonight.
