Thread: Evil Idea to (temporarily) fix buffbots!

We're all aware that buffbots - AFK master dancers/musicians that park their 'toon in the cantina and spam that they are giving mind buffs, just invite them to group and they'll auto join - are causing the rest of us REAL entertainers problems in terms of lost opportunities and lost income. Well, I say we rebel against those nasty buffbots, in any way we can. A couple of ideas:

If there are two or morein the same room... invite themall to group with you, make one of them the leader, and then disband. After that, they'll be joined with each other and can't buff anyone.

If there's just one... group with them yourself. Or convincea friend or guildmate to group with them and not disband.

We need to take a stand against this rash of buffbots who stand in the cantinas and take away our business. This might seem harsh to some... but it works.

I/m all for the idea to give any spamming entertainer TEF, so we can kill them all over...but this works too, we have low enough income as it is, and AFK's taking the money away from the real ones should be KOS.....

Good thing speedbuffs are about to be gone.....

I have been doing just this for a long long time. Just join up the afk's that are spamming and make them leader and disband. Not only that if they group has musicians in it i usually stay around awhile, and make a macro that keeps stopping them. Just for a while mind you i dont waste all night doing this.

Anything the entertainer community can do to keep the bots at bay I am all for.

Thanks for the giggle!

Sometimes it's really disheartening to know our profession can be replaced by bots who buff and heal in public or private cantinas. What's even worse is knowing that this is what some players prefer.

The great news is that there are dancers who enjoy their profession and haven't given up!

It's also good to know that there are dancers, musicians, and other assorted players who are willing to go that extra mile by using in game approved tactics to fight against tactics that are being used to undermine our marketability.

As long as their buff-bot macro doesn't have a /leave in it you'd have a pretty good system there.

Very tempting, but I'm afraid that this is the kind of thing that gets us accused of "griefing" people because their playstyle is "different" from our own.

I do take very evil pleasure in contemplating it though.

Well, ya know, they can't accuse us of griefing if they're NOT THERE. And you know what... if this is griefing... so be it! They deserve it.

I had LOTS of fun with it last night. Everyone should try it sometime. I think I'm gonna start going around and collecting all the AFK buffbots and grouping them all together. *snicker*

Oh, I wouldn't worry about that kind of thing, La'lepa. First of all, they'll have no way to tell who did it. Second of all, they open themselves to things like this when they go AFK. Its like saying that the bounty hunter is griefing a player for killing him while declared and AFK. If you wish to avoid circumstances like these, simply attend to your monitor and keyboard. It seems like the risk they take for the ability to influence the game world whilst not taking part in it.
