Thread: The end of Large Performances/Concerts?

this is a sad policy.


Protests - ok I can see wanting to make a policy to break them up.


GCW and Player Events - That's what makes this game fun for SO many people! Breaking these up is just like shooting yourself in the leg. Where are people going to get their content now?

If the gathering is for the explicit purpose of "bringing down a server" and nothing else, FINE.


Otherwise, any significant content in this game may have just been destroyed.

I think this is directly pointed at events like SPJ


50 entertainers entering an area where 15 AFK barkers, 10 buffing docs with their 20-30 deep lines of buffees was enough to cause rampant (LD)ing and terrible server performance.

Carry on with Starport Jams as normal. If a CSR shows up and asks you to move along, please do. This has not been a problem for Ent Gatherings before and I don't see any sign that it will in the future. This was a restating of something already in place, you should see no change.


If you do, please come back and post about it or PM me then. Until that time, carry on as normal.

First publish 10.2 comes stripped of the entertainer content... and now this all in one day... Good job making entertainers feel like dirt yet again devs.. I know i do.

If you read it for the full effect, you'll see that normal social events are only mentioned in the beginning... the rest is talking about something else and encouraging us to use other channels.


I will pass it on that this has the Ent Community freaked though. Maybe he can add on a note saying that we are still encouraged to hold Social and Ent Events. I know that it is the case, because this was something that was discussed at the Summit. Just carry on normally. We don't have a problem till a CSR shows up anyway.

Panthu while you are asking that. ask him why it's only large scale events interfering with other players game experience that is against the TOS. If interence with other players game experience is against the TOS I expect known buff bots to start being banned today.

Id like to point out that every single starport jam that has been held has been marked by someone getting the notion to harass us about lagging the area and reporting us for "damaging their gameplay experience".. Im glad to see the devs are so on top of improving everyones gameplay experience, but im kinda interested to know when there gonna get around to improving mine.


And while your letting him know that were "freaked" let him know im more fed up than freaked and wondering if it was a mistake to subscribe for another month, maybe i should have just let the acount lapse after all.

This isn't anything new, they've released pretty much the exact same statement before. If anyone remembers the Battle of Battles on Bria, the load ended up crashing the server.


I'd say this isn't directed at Entertainers at all, TH just chose a really bad way to start off the notice, especially given the fact that they came up short on adding things for Entertainers again.

When are they going to get a community liaison who can sound like something other than an arrogant, dictatorial ass? Half the time the uproar Thunderheart causes isn't due to what he's saying but how he's saying it.


It amazes me how hamfisted they are in communicating with their players. First 10.2 is entertainer free, and now this, both in one day.

Its the fact that normal events were mentioned at all. I run a lot of player events on Kauri. I don't want to be harrassed by a CSR everytime I have a party because Stinky Killsyou doesn't like player events or roleplaying in general and reports mefor gathering folks in an area. I'm sure CSRs will catch on and tell Stinky to shaddup after a while but there may be some CSRs that take TH's post at face value and break us up anyway.


I've never had a wedding over 50 folks in an area. I've had large player events but not hundreds like TH said and they were all in player cities away from large npc towns. I'm not worried that my events are breaking the rules, I don't believe I am. The problem is TH named and singled out events like this and so now I may find it a little more difficult to conduct my events in peace.
