Thread: What did we do to get such little respect?
(...just to clarify, becuase I know people will take this out of context if I don't say: I KNOW that "we" didn't all go AFK. But you guys know what I mean.)

I've read that other thread. It's obvious to me that the OP and the others in that thread the disparage entertainers are so short-sighted and so obviously immature that it's almost not possible to label it with a degree.
I have always enjoyed having a world in which there there are others who play a game that has little to nothing to do with "nice shootin' Tex!" The crafters and entertainers flesh this game out into a world, or at least they used to. I hate how these two groups have been dumbed down and marginalized.
Here's to hoping that the producers get smart and make a game world and not just something that can be controlled through a silly game console. A B B B A up down up up up down.

Yah you know, cuz entertainers are the only profession to ever go AFK.
Can we PLEASE let the AFK thing go now? Entertainer problems startedBEFORE theAFK craze, and they will continue now that the AFKers are gone.
Grow up and learn to look at the real problem.

Heh...I just have to say
I was one of those people who has fought vigorously in the past to remove AFK because I truly do believe they are the root of most of our problems. I'm not going to debate about that here because we have another thread for that.
However, in my opinion, I have literally given dozens of very good and logically thought reasons about how and why AFK is harmful, not only to the entertainer professions, but to the game as a whole. And, I can honestly say, that we will never realize our full potential, no matter what we have, as long as our professions can be 100% AFK'ed.
Now, the reason I say this is because I want to point out that, as I said, I believe that I have given dozens of well thought out reasons about why AFK should be removed. If you don't believe that anybody has satisfactorily explained to you in a calm and logicalmanner why they should be removed...then, I simply think that's your perspective. I don't say this to be rude, but, I believe that you don't think there's a problem with AFK. And, as such, you have personally decided that no matter the argument, no matter how sound and logical, you will dispute it. I don't think you are leaving room in your thought process to "get" what most of us are talking about.
I respect your decision to feel how you want to feel, even though I vehemently disagree with that viewpoint. However, I won't concede to not giving sound, logical, calm, reasonable, intelligent, and truthful reasons why they should be removed. I have. Many times. If you think those reasons are not valid. So be it. There's no way anyone can change your mind in that case. But, passion runs deep about this issue. And, I won't apologize for getting wrapped up in it and fighting against it. Because, to me, AFK has done so much harm to our profession and to the game. So many fixes, and wasted developer time trying to get around the issue instead of simply fixing it. The wasted opportunities do not come from us. They come from the people (and developers) that refuse to believe or understand how damaging AFK is. But, the fact of the matter is, the props and new stuff is incredibly cool. I love them. BUT, any kind of use that we could ever possibly have to the greater game community will NEVER come to fruition as long as it can be afk'ed. That's a fact.
