an fwg5 is the smallest, sexiest gun

i don't like to use blades cause you randomly slice opff body parts of yourself and fellow dancers

and much to my dismay the vibroknuckler doesnt work

so the fwg5 or nothin for me

I think the Scout Blaster looks even smaller. And it's black, so it doesn't stand out as much.

Since I always dance in a dress, holding a small derringer-like weapon makes me look almost like a femme fatale. Heh.

I do dance with the Tusken whomping stick, which is a favorite on Tatooine.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Is it a bug? Yes. Exploit - eh I don't know. Before I knew about the "no falling" thing I used to dance with a gun all the time, simply because I forgot to unequip it until one of the patrons said "you gonna shoot me with that thing?" And some dances look kinda cool with a big stick.

I don't think it's "wrong" to dance with a gun right now, simply because it's not really doing anything dishonest. But yes, it needs to be fixed. I won't spout off that lame argument that "it doesn't affect gameplay" because that's just not the case: we dancers play the game, falling on our butts affects our gameplay. Having said that, the gun bug/exploit is problematic because we fall entirely too often without a gun, even at high levels, and this really should not happen.

My suggestion:

  • decrease number of falls based on skill in dance knowledge

  • higher level dancers doing low level dances should almost never fall: a dancer with knowledge 4 should fall 1 out of every 20 flourishes doing exotic 2, 1 out of every 30 doing lyrical, and so forth. (Or even less often than that, dangit)

  • have a slash command like /balance where if you see yourself starting to fall, you can catch yourself and go back to the base dance, instead of finishing the "fall flourish" (and likely falling a 2nd time.) This would also reward people who are atk paying attention because they could "fix" a misstep, while the afk-ers would fall and look silly.

I was never a fan of holding weapons. Even a vibroblade. It just looks silly. Nor am I a fan of a sword on exotic.. The movement is just wrong for it. Formal is good for a sword, lyrical for a staff.. Poplock can be good for a staff as well. (Best wearing black slacks, white formal shirt of some kind, boots, and with an ommni box and chid horn playing jazz, and only doing the "good" flourishes 1-4 - give it a try sometime if you can get all that together.) Formal can be used for staff as well for a mixed formal/lyrical dance. But beyond that, I don't use weapons in my dance because either the movement is all wrong, or makes it look like I should be missing a few body parts or have a hole through my body by the time it is done.

In my opinion, I'd rather fall and look a bit ungraceful from time to time than look like I'm committing hari-kari when I flourish.

Sometimes we make a game of it. Fall once and you're going to answer an embarassing question. Fall twice in a row and a piece of clothing comes OFF! Fall three times in a row and it's a sure signal that the server's about to crash.

Hey, if we cannot stop falling, we can at least make the best of it.

I am master dancer/master entertainer. The ME gives me +10 dance knowledge. I rarely fall on lyrical, and never fall on anything below that. The falling on lyrical/exotics is still a bit much though.

Or reward people who setup a macro to time /balance right as they start a flourish. That would need to be balanced by making it so if you did /balance when you weren't falling, it would cause you to fall, and /balance wouldn't be able to catch that one.

An interesting idea. I'd personally like to see falling just taken out. Most dancers aren't sitting there waiting to catch a fall. They are chatting up with their friends often. And in performances where falling hurts the most, even catching it will throw off the timing of the performance. I prefer to just let the person fall and pick them up the next flourish. (Even with lyrical)
