Thread: The 2 minute timer is a minimum, not in addition to.

Just tested it and it seems to be working fine. I can fully buff someone in 2 minutes 5 seconds on TC right now. The Devs only ever intended this to be a minimum, not an addition to. The 2 minutes is not a dead period, you can still build buffs same as before, tho some old techniques to speed it up may not work as well. Hopefully Panthu will be able to post a quote soon, but til then take my word for it. I've spoken to devs and tested on TC, unless you think 2 minutes is too long then you have nothing to worry about.

That's cool, I'm really happy to hear that! But, have you tested it using the 3 minute and 10 second method? Because if you're just using the 1 to 5 second method, your tests aren't really showing that this is not an addition to. A method that normally takes 3 minutes or 5 minutes or 10 minutes needs to be tested to prove that it doesn't take 5 min, 7 min, or 12 min respectively.

You should keep them until he promises to wear hawtpants fulltime.

As of tonight:

3:12 works fine, no change... 1-10 sec now takes 2 mins... the 8 min 1 flo every 10 secs (or any variation on that)now takes 10 mins from what I see. I don't know why. I'm asking. I can confirm that a Dev has said it should be building in duration and that the 2 mins is supposed a minimum only. Over flo tests confirm that duration is building... I don't know why non-over flo is acting different.

So if you are used to using the 3:12, you should see no change.

I'm also asking if the 2 min one is legal and if I can share it. (Not extremely different from the 30 sec IMObut no stop and no spam for others )

Oh god, I'm confused...

Okay, so what would my macro look like if I wanted to buff someone in the SHORTEST amount of time possible? And what is this 3:12 y'all are talking about? And... *head explodes*

I'm with you.

Honestly... I don't know what "intended" is and that may be where the confusion is coming from. RM I'm guessing does know what's "intended" and I'm trying to find out. RM's old guide said 8 mins and about 1 flo every 10 secs. That's what I was taught and that's what I think we all used to think was normal.

Some people rounded that up to 10 mins.

I learned that when I "over-floed" I could do it faster... I also discovered on my own that it went even faster if a wasn't buffed and was stopping and restarting a lot with a healer. This was not anything I ever used to buff patrons, because I have always been spooky about anything that could be an exploit.

Now that I'm a correspondent, I'm double spooked.

What I figured out on my own ages ago are what's now being called the 3:12 (or 3 or 4 min) and the 30 sec respectively. The 5,6,7 min versions are all the same with less overfloing... over floing is just passing through more flourishes than you can actually animate. Is it intended? I don't know yet.

If RM wants to post all that he knows and can, that's a'ok by me. No one has told me what I can say and what I can't yet, but I'm a talker... so as soon as they do I'll tell all. I don't like cryptic and I hate to leave anyone hanging but till then, that's what I know that I don't think anyone would mind me saying because it's all pre 30 sec hype.

Better?

No! All I can think now is "Oh, God, we're SCREWED, our correspondent doesn't know anything either!"

*goes to put her head in the oven* Come on in, Panthu, there's room for two in here...

TH does talk to me a lot and I know about his secret weakness for hawtpants even if I don't totally understand everything he says... and... we have a new answer coming up next week anyway! Yay! (those are public so you all get to be boggled with me )

I have confirmed a few things live today....The two minutes is a minimum. It does not seem to effect the duration of the 3:10 buff for dance. I got 2hours from that both times I tried with music and dance this morning.

Also, the 15 seconds stop/start delay is more annoying than I was hoping. It impacts any entertaining. So, if you stop dancing you have to wait 15 seconds to start dancing OR play music. I can live with it, but thought you'd all want to know.

I agree, it is annoying, but you kind of get used to it. The only place I've found this to seriously impact entertaining is on the musician side when you go to change instruments. It makes it impossible to switch instruments on the fly.
