When people assume that because you are playing an online game, you are a male playing a female toon? I know this doesn't so much have to do with dancing but I figured dancer has the largest female population base, I don't think I even see girls post on my server's forum.
The reason I post this is I have a BH mentioning me in the BH forums and everyone was like "Don't worry, that Ay'la chick probably isn't reallya girl anyways" and it just got to me more than it should.

I get it occassionally, hence my posting on SWG faces. And sometimes I'm on teamspeak, and I think I'm unmistakably a female.

Pfft, I had one jerk call me a guy once on the Ahazi TC. But considering who and what he was I was unaffected. Don't let it bother you, though. It usually stems from gender envy . . .

They make a huge deal about this kind of thing in the Bria forums
There are some players that post there and play on Bria that say they are girls... even post pictures of a girl holding a sign up with their forum handle written on it saying "I play SWG" etc..... they call them shims (she/him).....
I think it's really sad : (
Many guys feel threatened by playing a game like this with a female..... they are scared to loose in pvp to them etc..... in other words the guys have no real confidence in themselves, and the only way they can cope with it is to act like the girls are guys.... which makes many girls not want to participate in the forums or not want to say they are girls or worst of all not want to play the game anymore....
I really enjoy playing SWG and other MMOs with females
sorry if you are having trouble with this : /
p.s. my pic is on swg-faces.com under Bria : O : P heheeh

Im not sure if its admitting losing to a girl, that could be one part. I always assumed that because alot of male players are expecting sexual or romantic related interaction with the female characters it brings out the inner homophobic fear that they may be talking to another guy.
Personaly i dont play to cyber with, flirt with, or pretend to date other players. So i realy could care less what they are. Even if i did it would be from a roleplay sense so it wouldn't matter much to me if the person was male female or wookie on the other side. Though im not realy a very good roleplayer sowhen i do try it i don't generaly attempt anything like roleplay relationships. There is an interesting article i read on stratics i believe written by a man that roleplays as a female character and even went so far as to marry a known male played character and play the part of the good wife. I personaly have a friend who is a woman and would have no problem roleplaying a male character, even in a roleplay relationship.
In the end the what i think it comes down to is the people who accept this is a fantasy world realy don't care what you are at the keys, because you are your character to them. Thats the way i see everyone i know. The ones that play thinking "its just a game, like quake" Seem to be the ones i see complaining and calling people out on their gender. I don't generaly even care to know a persons real name as it somewhat spoils the immersion.
*edit*I forgot to add yes it does bother me heh, There was this one time this guy was refering to me as dude, and i haaaaate being called dude. While looking right at me mind you. I even went so far as to politely correct him, the next word out of his mouth... Dude. In one ear and out the other.
*edit#2" on further thought i think that someone should find whomever is responsible for the "dude" craze, and launch them into the sun in a rocket. Along with whoever invented the "not" craze. Remember the "not" craze. Aghhhh just remembering it makes me want to cry out in frustration.

Does it bother me when guys think I'm a guy playing a girl toon? Personally, I think it is funny as hell. What does bother me is when players..who know I'm a girl IRL..treat my male characters with a greater degree of respect butfeel the need to explain the game to me like I'm an idiotwhen I'm playing one of my female characters (my one combat character is female and she pwns, my two male characters are the slaves who keep the credits coming in
). The double standard is alive and well in SWG.

It doesn't really bother me too much, because I know why I am being referred to as a man by the individual.
In both instances its been when:
- I don't wish to cyber with them. Of course, I have to be a man to refuse the "catches" in this game.

- I have soundly beat them in an argument on the forums or trounced their weeneeasses during battle in game. They can't "win" so they try and "put me in my place" by either saying I am a man, or by saying I am such a biotch they feel sorry for the man in my life.
One would think it would hurt my feelings, but it only makes me laugh and do a little dance on this end of the computer. I know thats the only way they can try and recoup what little manhood they had to begin with. I know, I know...I am not being "kind" when I speak of this. What can I say though?
My name is Oqua.
I am a stinky lady at times....and proud of it. ![]()

I have been playing the game for nearly a year. I don't have a problem with guys calling me a "dude" or anything but one thing does burn me up:nearly every guy I interact with does at some point feel the need to "explain", often with really sweet patience, the game to me. I really try to curb my tongue because they are trying to be sweet and are generally a nice bunch of guys.
I only play one character so I don't know if they would treat me differently if I played a male. However, I do have a good friend who plays a male and she seems to get a lot of respect playing bouncer at the cantinas even when her male character had NO combat skills. I got none as a master of an elite combat prof [coulda been my propensity to wear pink padded armor with matching hotpants
] [and ya, carbines suck but thats for another forum]

Sometimes it bothers me... and sometimes it bothers me a lot. *snickers* Truth is though, it's not like I'm looking to hook up with anybody so should I really care if some silly won't believe I'm not a big stinky boy? No, most likely not. Besides, some of my favorite people are big stinky boys.

I get called a Todd so, SO much. (Todd being the Tarquinas term for a male playing a female character.) It infuriates me. Maybe that's really stupid... but it does. I am a female, both in-game and in real life. Just because I'm a gamer does not mean I have a donker, thankyouverymuch.
It shocks me how many men assume I'm a dude. One night Ava was out with her now-husband, and two guys from a rebel guild came across us... and rather than just asking - or even commenting - if I was a Todd, he simply referred to me by a male name... called me James the entire time he was harassing us. I was so pissed off.
It seems like there's no in-between in this game. If I'm really a girl, obviously I'm dying to cyber with every male in the game. If I'm not willing to cyber, I must obviously be a dude. *rolls her eyes*
