Thread: New trend?
Heres the trend I've noticed since the patch...
First day...most people didn't know aboutthe new buffs, I spent most the day explaining it to folks and trying to figure out just how it worked myself
Second day...I logged in to find people standing in front of my char (in the cantina) throwing money at me and waiting in line for buffs. It was great, I felt so needed(hehe). I made a good bit of cash that day.
Third and since...Seems like it peaked the second day, and started heading a different direction. I have always gotten pretty good tips because I'm always at the keyboard chit-chatting and what not. What I started noticing was that some of thesame people who came in for healing before, now came in and asked to join the entertainer group. They eitherdance or ask our musicians to make them and instrument, put up the afk tag, entertain for 15 mins or so, leave group and head back out to hunt. That way they get their buff, don't have to tip etc. Maybe they actually intend on becoming entertainers, I can't read their minds but...Yesterday I think I had maybe 4-5 requests for buffing, and I was offering it with a full explanation. The other noteable difference? Less tipping. I am a master dancer, never had any trouble making 15-20 k in 3 or 4 hours. Not now. I still got tips from my regulars but the others didn't tip at all. Could it be that they feel since they aren't asking for the buff that no tip is needed? I don't worry about tips too much , I have a second job, but I would like to see it even out to where you feel you get some compensation for time spent. Also if I'm a master I imagine the new dancers/musicians aren't getting much at all.
Should we not all group together? Sure makes it difficult to dance synced up (my favorite) and I know this will hurt the dancers working on xp.
Alot of the AFKers added the /join command in their macroes too so that anyone can join them and get the buff, I even saw an AFKer with it in her macro..."invite me to your group for mind buff" spam spam spam :/
Another question I have, a friend of mine (CH) came in and said the buffs were nice, but not really needed for most professions. Made my heart sink. I'm an architect and dancer, so I don't know alot about what professions need what. What other professions really benefit from this, besides doctors? Or was he just wrong?
Class balancing...glad its not my job, hehehe

I certainly hope this doesn't start cutting down on the normal tipping, but if it does I'm not sure how we could fix that. Positive reinforcement comes to mind by offering discounted buff rates for regular (paying) customers. But thats so hard to do with as much as people move around from city to city/ planet to planet.
As far as the AFK performers go, until we can find a way to get rid of those rats (the ones with the /join command and especially those loosers offering to buff while afk) your best option is to group them so they can't group with anyone else. This is even better if you can group two afk people then make one leader and leave the group, hehe. (these are a few of the ideas I've seen posted that work well)
Now when it comes to allowing people to join the entertainer groups, this is just more reason for the rest of you out there to be more picky and not allow afk people in your group. (unless your purposely messing with them) Ask a few questions first, see if their a real entertainer or just someone who wants a free ride. If they go afk shortly after joining give them the boot. We need to toughen up on these people now more then ever.
When it comes to our buffs being necessary/ not necessary. No, not every profession is greatly benefited by them. But you friend is wrong about most professions unless he's counting the crafting professions which I suppose he could of been. Truth is, the majority of combat professions / classes as well as the healing professions (doctors, CM's) need our buff bad and love it. Rifleman probably most especially along with the healers out there. However, anybody who PvP's and has a clue what their doing is going to want to have our mind buff on first. Mind damage is the biggest weakness in PvP and our buff is the only thing that can counter that.
Really I think as more people find out about the buffs, and find out how long they last they'll get more and more popular. I think some of the problem may be people don't realize how long they last or have gotten mind buffs that only last a short while and think thats the norm. Make sure you tell people how long they can last and as time goes by I'd be surprised to see any Master Dancer that doesn't see a regular flow of people wanting these. For non masters it might be slower tho, but thats to be expected.
Thanks for the suggestions Raven ![]()
I love the afk grouping idea!

The first day,
I had 3 people from one guild all send me tells at the same time wanting buffed. They offered 5k for the buff. I let them in with me and another master dancer to do the group buff. They sat there for maybe 15 minutes and watched and enjoyed our dancing. We even talked and explained how it all worked. Sometime during that 15 minutes they had tipped both of us 5k each. I didn't even notice til they asked to make sure we got the tip.
the next few days I had very few people even ask for a buff, most watched the AFK dancers and the few that watched me (because I talked to everyone that came in) tipped pretty well, yet noone asked for a buff, they just wanted healed.
Last night I got tired of talking everyones ears off and getting nowhere, so I headed to the Med center to heal and do other buffs there. In the cantina I made maybe 2500 total for the day, in the med canter I made 10k for the day. Can't tip and AFK doc cause you can't be afk. hehe (my game time consisted of maybe 4hours for the day)

Well as stated elsewhere, the three that really need mind buffs are CM, MD and Rifle
As for need, it's not a direct need outside those three classes, but every class will benefit. A master dancer friend buffed me Friday night as a 'thank you' for all the heals (I didn't ask for one since I was just chatting in the tavern).
Anyway, there was a lot of action outside and I even took poison a few times but my mind bar was never in jeopardy. Between keeping myself standing and the fact I never ran out of mind while healing wounds and applying poison antedote, I think it's safe to say that mind buffs are extremely useful. Obviously they're more useful to certain professions, but most will get benefits either directly or indirectly ![]()
Thanks CKilla!
It really helps to know this...now to find some CMs MDs and riflemen...yoohoo...yeah you! get over here! hehe

Anytime Sen, the medical professions need you as much as you need us ![]()
It was great having that buff, it was great that the only thing holding back heals was my timer instead of having to worry about my mind pool running out
I know my novice swordsmancharacter will be seeking out these buffs. I can't migrate enough to her mind stat without taking too much out of the others-and I can heal the other two bars. Often my downtime is a result of my mind taking too much damage.
I've been sick lately so haven't been able to play much, but I did buff a group the other night before they went hunting and they absolutely loved having the additional mind. They said that before they had problems with people getting incapped due to mind damage-no problem after the buff. ![]()
TK's should love the buff too. I'm a master dancer and part-way up the TK tree and I -really- wish I could buff myself along with everyone else in the hunting group. The usual reason a TK goes down is running out of mind.
would it be that big of a deal to take out the /join command? a window does pop up on your screen.... i'm trying to think of a real important reason to have to be able to type /join... but i can't think of any. hmmm
No, Ihave tried many different ways (rotary menu, /watch, starting to watch before dancing and while dancing). It appears that you need to do the buffs while just observing. So, if you are a dancer/fighter, no buff in the field for you unless your group will wait for it and you have two dancers.
stole this from another post but if this is true, this helps out one of my problems. Maybe they are just testing it to see if they can get it that way....(they being combat classes who join and dance trying to get a free passive buff from the entertainers group).
