Yes. Then again, when I was levelling about a month after the game's release more people were at their keyboards than were afk... so, the entertainer groups were actually fun.

Hey.

I leveled up slowly, i used 3 months.

And no i werent afk, in my entertainer days, before novice dancer i danced in my city cantina. I could talk to guildies, and we had alot of fun.

When i moved to theed cantina at novice dancer i actually were lucky enough to meet people who were at the keyboard and fun to be with.

I met alot of new people there, not only entertainers but customers too wich i have remained good contact with.

There was a period in theed when there were almost no-afkers at all, and there is alot of boot happy leaders there to make the groups fun.

So yeah, ive been mastering dancer not only not-afk but i had fun

I hope you will have the same fun too.

It took me some time to master it, though not as much time as some probably, and I had fun doing it. I never afked during my time levelling up to master dancer ,and I had a good time doing it while meeting interesting people in both Theed and especially Kaadara at the time.

I Mastered Dancer in the first 10 days after I got the game, back when an AKF dancer was a rarity rather than the normality that it is now. I had fun back then chatting to people but at the end I was a bit sick of seeing the inside of the same cantina and with the numbers of AFK'ers rising rapidly I went off to start on Tailoring.

I don't dance all that much anymore, but if someone asks for a buff I enjoy helping out. I have been dancing in Dathomir a couple of times, it's pretty good there with fewer entertainers and more people actually ATK.

I have always freely admitted to being an AFKer. I didn't use it a whole lot the first time I mastered (I actually didn't use macros much at all the first time I mastered) but after that I was hooked. Especially since my purpose in getting master dancer at one point was so I could drop our player city cantina.

Feel free to one-star me, I know how strongly it's frowned upon. I don't care, to be honest.

Did most of my Alt on Sunrunner AFK.

I enjoy the class... but simply get bored after 3-4 hours. If i feel like helping out ill goto an empty cantina and AFK dance all night for people. But sitting in a useless cantina in a player city is boring. Hitting the same buttons over and over is boring.

I talk all the time... and their are many that talk back. Both other entertainers and patrons. Frankly the people bitching about AFKers are just looking for something to **edit** at and refuse to direct their energies anymore at the Game/Devs themselves

On Panthu, I never afked... ever, for anything. I sat her down before going afk, even if it was just for 2 secs. At the time, I felt like we were still telling the patrons how to treat this class and had some influence over people's impressions on the class. I didn't want to have any hand in making the class seemtrivial to those not in it and less fun for those who were... which is what being able to afk through our only activities with no end product seems like to me. I actually don't care if anyone levels lightning fast with little to no effort, I only care about how it effects the over all class from a gameplay (not leveling, unless you are talking about leveling _as_ gameplay). I think it is insane to have the ability to harm other people's game play by protecting unattended leveling, the unattended leveling itself doesn't bother me at all though.

Ok, anyway... yes, on my main, I did it and I did it _slowly_ ... it was a lot more fun and rewarding than the alts I have since leveled almost exclusively in the cantinas and with some unattended dancing. The class has changed in game usage so much since I first started, I think no one should be made to feel too badly about afking in a zombie filled cantina. I don't like what it's become, but I don't think we'll be changing anyone's minds now even if a fairly large number of dancers never afk. The harms been done now and it's in the devs hands afaic. If even one other zombie is present, it won't be taking tips away from ATK dancers if you go zombie too, but I think it's just polite to stay in one of the big zombie cantinas if you are going to afk dance.

So advice... if you are wanting it to be fun, dance in camps and bases (if you are factioned)mostly, only hit the cantinas as it fits into your other gameplay, stop by in each one you pass to see if you are needed or if there are fun people to talk to there... but if you are just wanting to get to master for some end purpose, like dropping a cantina or giving the best buffs and you don't care about having fun or being fun every time you dance, go ahead and afk in one of the zombie filled places.

Zombie dancing is much more rewarding xp wise, it's just not very much fun for anyone.

I've done a little bit of AFK grinding with my alt, but I never did it in public. And I did it purely when I was a few 1000 xp short of a skill.

Hi all

Except for getting a drink or the occasional biological break , no, I didn't go AFK.

I guess I was lucky, because the first cantina I walked into I met someone who also just started playing Galaxies and was wanting to become a Master Musician. We played around with the emoted for half an hour then got into getting xp, learning about flourishes, etc. This meant that I had someone to group with and talk to the entire time.

On top of that, I'm a very social person , so dancing around for hours while talking to people is, for me, not boring

I just want to say also that I do feel sorry for those of you hologrinders that are combat players and got an entertainer profession to master. So just hurry up and get out of our cantinas

It took me a couple of months to master dancer. I went out on hunting groups to get a break from the cantina. I also traveled from cantina to cantina. I never went AFK while dancing. Checking out different cantinas gave me the opportunity to find out where other ATK entertainers hung out. I was hardly ever bored.

Although, thinking back, going up the entertainer dance line to get to novice dancer was grueling because you were still making "cantina friends" and getting used to the flourishes.

Never being AFK paid off. I was asked to place a cantina in the city I reside it. It has become the home to the ATK entertainers.

Somesuggestions if you are going to join the AFK ranks:

  • Don't spam begging macros

  • Don't stand in the doorway of the cantina

  • Join a group and find yourself a corner

  • Don't expect tips

Good luck on your journey to Master Dancer.

Yes I mastered dancer without going afk except for the occasional bio break/ water run. Like many others have stated the norm was ATK entertainers. I grew up in Kaadara and did 95% of my dancing there, made alot of good friends both other entertainers and patrons.

The cantina in Kaadara used to have nightly groups of 5-7 dancers and musicians minimum. Heck I didn't even know how to macro until almost novice dancer, and that was a blessing because I would have horrible finger cramps from pressing the flourish keys.

When someone asked who sold houses I could tell them, who was selling spices I had vendor locations, what tailors where in the area I could email a list of tailors and their current skill levels it truly was the "hub" of information for services and goods.

Iused to blame the AFK folks for the state of the cantinas and the profession, but actually it's not their fault, they areplaying the game and using legal means of advancing. I blame the short sighted folks who set up the holocron jedi system, the people whohaven't developed the content and skills of the profession for it's current state.

Would I do it again? Yes because even with all the issues, dancing is still my first love.

To my group ofsisters and brothers I salute you, to the new people just learning your craft take the time to enjoy it.

*hugs*

My afks were a couple minutes, tops--to get a drink, etc. I went from Novice Ent. to Master Dancer entirely in Moenia. I was even part of a small "hotel revolution" where a rather large group of us went to the hotel to entertain since we had a strange influx of afkers for a while. Once they went away, we went back to the cantina! In my last leg of ent. healing xp, a few of the guys would kill themselves over and over so I would get the xp faster. What gentlemen.

Ah.. those were the days...
