Today, the official SWG "Friday Feature" is a "Full Macro How-To and Full Command List."

Never mind the fact that the thing was written by someone who quit the game months ago, and that it's inaccurate and out-of-date. I just want to know whose BRILLIANT idea it was to post this thing as a Friday Feature? I mean, come on! Why don't they post a Friday Feature on "How to Spam at Starports" or "How to Dupe Credits" or "How to Double-Slice Weapons?"

The same developers who tell us they don't like afk macroing, they realize it's a problem, they want it to go away - and they post a macro guide on the official website of the game, as a Friday Feature.

I really find it difficult to express my disgust adequately. Am I overreacting here?

I am shocked as well. It seems inconsistent to seemingly encourage something that many devs have admitted is undesirable, as well as put the time and effort into schooling the masses about elements that are going to be eliminated.

What's really shocking is it's not a Friday Feature - it's a Wednesdy Feature!

Ok really I think it's a featured guide or something. Whatever it is, it's officially sponsored and prominently featured. And it makes me sick.

I see the entertainer correspondent already chimed in and deflected/defended instead of showing outrage.

Ah well.

Any hope the entertainer community has at this point rests with Combat Assist bot breaking the game.

I think this might be another "calm down" thing. If things weren't the way they are, we wouldn't even care about this, I think. But we're hypersensitive right now (for good reason).

Do I think they're stupid for cut and pasting someone's grammatically atrocious "guide?" Yes.

Do I think that macros are bad? No.

Do I think that ABUSE of macros is bad? Yes.

I don't see in there where they are promoting the abuse of macros (i.e. AFKing), only the use. Yes, the dance macro is horrid, but honestly..Look at this forum. Do people take our advice to go read the buffing data Tiaga so meticulously compiled and learn the hows and whys of buffing? Or do they just ask for a cut and paste macro and ignore suggestions that they actually educate themselves? I learned this lesson today, and wonder why I take the time to truly try to help people become better entertainers, sometimes.

There will always be people who just want to cut and paste a macro and go about their way. But as long as they are ATK, there's not much we can say or do. Honestly, though, this is where those of us who DO learn and who DO take the time and who DO care can set ourselves apart from the crowd. Someone wants to make a /flioursh2 macro, let them, as long as they stay ATK and use it instead of going AFK and abusing it. We can outperform /fliourish2 every time.

Its like the author didn't know how to spell "flourish"...and so they spelled it three different ways just to cover their bases....lol.
