Just found this recent interview on SWG Vault. The very last question (scroll all the way down)is what had me blinking in disbelief.

Why nobody could tell us this on the SWG website, I've no idea. Again, communication is just so disappointing with the Dev team.

ANYWAYS - LOOK!

SWG Vault: The entertainer professions are the ones that seem to be hurt the most by this, with most entertainer classes being rendered nearly useless. This group was already hit pretty hard by AFK buffbots and before that, hologrinding. Do you have specific plans to make the entertainment professions viable again, and if so, could you outline them?

Devs: There were new Inspirations introduced into the game with the Combat Upgrade and there are actually more coming soon!

Also, we have actually removed the "Buffbots" from the game which is an added bonus because it forces players to use the Inspiration system. In addition in May we will be removing the ability to make recursive macros in game, this will eliminate the AFK entertainers and re-establish a place for the real entertainers to enjoy SWG.

As you can see, they've said AFK will very soon be going away, and they will re-establish a place for the real Entertainers to enjoy SWG. I'm still disappointed they don't understand they did NOT REMOVE BUFFBOTS, they made it EASIER to buffbot with totally passive Inspiration buffs that require little to no action cost to apply.

Anyways, rejoice! And we'd better hold them to this!

What makes you believe that THIS time they're telling the truth?

On the other hand most buffbots seem to have completely dissapeared. The cantinas of Bria are all but totally vacant these days. And the ent channel is omnimously silent....

Me: What if we don't like them? Also, who asked for them?

Devs: Also, we have actually removed the "Buffbots" from the game which is an added bonus because it forces players to use the Inspiration system. Me: No you didn't. You just made doctor buffs insignificant and created inspiration buffs that are worthless to the community. The community cancelled the buff bot accounts it was using because these new buffs were incredibly useless.

Also, It's may... Looks to me like recursive macros still work just fine and AFK entetrainers are still in existance spamming away that they need me to look at them so they can get experience and to tip because they need my credits to survive.... Whenever they get back to the keyboard.

I wouldnt hold onto the May date too tightly but it is definitely nice to see that with all the huge changes recently, that their stance on getting rid of AFK did not change. I believe someone mentioned it at the breakfast as well and when they said they were still planning on doing away with recursives everyone in the room cheered.

Nothing makes me believe it.

I am simply reporting what I've found.

Besides, believing it or not believing it doesn't mean a thing. What we needare results, which is the only thing that will convince many of us that these "Devs" mean business. So far, their changes for us in this game have been a complete disappointment to me. I hope they wake up and actually finish the job they started with us in August 2003. Entertainers are iconic in Star Wars. They are a joke in SWG. And I expect results, and I expect them very soon. Not promises, but results.

I was merelyreporting that a timeline was finally stated, so they must have a plan. We haven't heard a thing about this in a long time. It seemed like a valuable bit of information, and I was shocked that SWG Vault actually asked about us in the first place. It seems a LOT of players ended up having some good friends who were Entertainers, and a LOT more people now know how badly things have been for us. We havethe empathy from the playerbase, it really is there. Read the SOE President's post, you'll see Entertainers mentioned a lot. We're getting the visibility we need to get heard. That's good. We've got people fighting for us on fan sites. That's good.

Speaking of visibility, time togo sit in my house and stare at the wall while Bounty Hunters circle my place and send me annoying/tells. Because Jediis totally screwed up, and the only timely way to worktoward a skillbox is to group and get visibility, then have Bounty Hunters after you. I got 130,000Jedi xp last night. Then I got killed by a BH. Now I'm at -70,000 xp. This game is all screwed up...*shakes head*

so we are losing ALL recursive macros? so no one can loop anything - even while they are AT the keyboard? How incredibly stupid. So my jedi cant loop a heal macro while he fights? ugh

The May bit could always change. It's IT, and dates always change.

However, this interview happened yesterday. They must have a plan. They aren't just starting to work on this, a less than 4 weeks time estimate means this is an impending fix for us, and that makes me happy.

I'm sure there were a lot cheers when talking about removing recursive macros. It should've been done ages ago. I've said to my guildmates that I noticed the "default attack" command is essentially a recursive macro that doesn't require....a recursive macro. It effectively pulled the looping out of a script, and into the game's function itself. It was a promising prelude to what I feel will truly be the end of bots in SWG.

It may be the dawn of a new age of Entertainers. Or, it could be delayed again...and again...and again. Something is on the horizon, though...I just hope it's a good thing.

The devs seem tobelieve that removing the recursive macro is the only way to get rid of the ability to completely AFK certain aspects of the game. It has it's pros and cons, no doubt.
